케이블-트러스 복합구조물의 형상최적화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Shape Optimization of the Cable-Truss Hybrid Structures)

  • The purpose of this study is to obtain the optimum shape of cable domes by using the real coding genetic algorithm. Generally, the structural performance of the cable domes is influenced very sensitively by pre-stress, geometry and length of the mast because of flexible system. So, it is very important to decide the optimum shape to get maximum stiffness of cable domes. We use the analytical model to verify the usefulness of this algorithm for shape optimization and analyze the roof system of Seoul olympic gymnastic arena as analytical model of a practical structures. It is confirmed lastly that the optimum shape domes have more stiffness than initial shape ones.

MQW 광변조기의 변조대역폭 확대를 위한 실장 기생 인덕턴스의 최적화 (Optimization of parasitic inductance for maximizing the modulation bandwidth of MQW modulators)

  • An optimum parasitic inductance is observed for maximizing the modulation bandwidth of the multiple quantum well (MQW) electro-absorption optical modulator. For 1.1 pF device cpaacitance of the current MQW optical modulator, the optimum parasitic inductances for maximum bandwidth are calculated for different terminating resistors. In ase of 50.ohm. terminating resistor, the 3-dB modulation bandwidth can be increased 45% wider by using the optimum parasitic inductance than nothing parasitic inductance. This calculated optimum inductance can be practically implemented, since the parasitic inductance of bondwires can be accurately analyzed using the method of moments (MoM) and controlled by changing the length and shpae of bondwires.

투과일사의 유입길이에 따른 Tilt 창호의 적정 기울기 산정 (The Calculation on the Optimum Angle of Tilt Type Window by Length of Transmitted Solar Radiation)

  • This study is suggested tilt window type to be restrained solar radiation through vertical window type in buildings. The shading and aesthetical effect of buildings would be solved by installation of tilt window type. For investigate optimum an angle of tilt window and building azimuth in reference region, the distance of transmitted solar radiation is calculated. The results of calculation showed optimum an angle of tilt window is obtained $7^{\circ}$ that the distance of transmitted solar radiation is 20% of 1.5m of balcony width. In case of an tilt window angle of $7^{\circ}$, the optimum building azimuth is showed $SW15^{\circ}{\sim}SE15$.

Optimum design of a reinforced concrete beam using artificial bee colony algorithm

  • Optimum cost design of a simply supported reinforced concrete beam is presented in this paper. In the formulation of the optimum design problem, the height and width of the beam, and reinforcement steel area are treated as design variables. The design constraints are implemented according to ACI 318-08 and studies in the literature. The objective function is taken as the cost of unit length of the beam consisting the cost of concrete, steel and shuttering. The solution of the design problem is obtained using the artificial bee colony algorithm which is one of the recent additions to metaheuristic techniques. The artificial bee colony algorithm is imitated the foraging behaviors of bee swarms. In application of this algorithm to the constraint problem, Deb's constraint handling method is used. Obtained results showed that the optimum value of numerical example is nearly same with the existing values in the literature.

  • Error detection in ARQ(Automatic Repeat Request) protocols is very important in wireless data communication systems. The throughput efficiency of ARQ protocols can be improved by dynamically adapting the protocol packet length so that it approaches the optimum value for throuhput efficiency. In this paper, a simple and novel adaptive packet length allocation method is proposed which transmits the packets with variable length by dyanmically estimating the channel codition. The simulation results show that the average of throughput is improved by 315.4% in the stop-and-wait protocol, 41.4% in the go-back-N protocol and 155.9% in the selective repeat protocol respectively. And the throughput performances of adaptive packet length allocation method approximately approach the theoritically optimal throughput performances.

  • In the design of microwave multi-stage amplifiers composed of N amplifier modules, the variation of performances of amplifier as various connection length between modules has been studied. In addition, the methods, equations and conditions for the maximum gain or the most flat gain are presented. The results of sensitivity analysis for the connection length showed that the small change in phase of input, output reflection coefficients(S$_{11}$, S$_{22}$) of module itself is the most important in determination of connection length for the most flat gain. Th egain flatness of 2-module amplifier of which connection length between modules had been determined by presented methods was the best one out of performances with various arbitrary connectio lengths.s.

Gate Length Optimization for Minimum Forward Voltage Drop of IGBTs

  • The forward voltage drop of IGBT is studied numerically and analytically as a function of gate length. An analytical expression is presented for the first time for the surface potential variation along the channel layer under the gate of IGBT. The surface potential drop and the carrier density near the surface allow calculation of the forward voltage drop of IGBT analytically as a function of the gate length. The voltage-drop in the drift region near the gate decreases exponentially, whereas that on the surface increases linearly with increasing the gate length, the sum of which exhibits an optimum gate length, resulting in a minimum forward voltage drop. Based on the surface potential drop, a remodelling of the forward voltage drop of IGBT is also proposed.

  • This paper proposed a m.Sketch to search the optimal link lengths for a legged walking robot. In order to apply the m.Sketch for the proposed, set the design parameters of the constraints and use the m.Skecth to get optimal GL(Groud Length) and GAC(Ground Angle Coefficient). The legged robot designed based on four-bar linkage theory and Theo Jansen mechanism. The stride length of the legged walking robot was defined based on the proposed kinematic analysis. Use the Edison Design m.Sketch simulate and find the optimal link length having the best of the Ground Length (GL) and Ground Angle Coefficient(GAC). And use these length implemented the Theo Jansen mechanism both in Science box parts and acrylic. In addition to the further expansion of the legs to reach the goaltranslating heavy objects or person.

  • In military applications of equipment, it is of the utmost importance that the equipment operates without breakdown for a specified length of time. We can increase the reliability of a system by adding redundant components to the basic nonredundant system. This study introduces a dynamic programming algorithm of finding optimum redundant design that maximizes the system reliability with constraints.

Double-Flap 조파기의 설계 및 조파판의 최적 위상관계 (Optimum Draft and Phasing of Double-Flap Wavemaker)

  • A method to determine the optimum drafts of waveboards of single and double-flap wavemaker is presented by using a linearized first-order wave theory and a linear regression method. A linear regression is verified to be quite simpler than the local disturbance consideration or regular-wave forming distance. It is pointed out that lower hinge should be deep enough to keep the upper flap vertical for a long wave length.
