  • The procedure of investigation and design of the soil contaminated with petroleum was introduced. Soil and water quality analyses were carried out to figure out the type of contaminants and the flume range according to the national regulation. In the investigation, it was verified that the soils in several dispersed locations were contaminated with petroleum. Therefore, in the design process, it was necessary to select a optimal remediation method after making the conception model of the site, and then the treatment method of incineration was selected.

  • In the patients with hematologic and solid tumors. clinical application of peripheral blood stem cells (PBSCs) increases to reconstitute hematopoiesis after high-dose chemotherapy. To mobilize PBSCs. the hematopietic growth factors have been widely used as single treatment or after chemotherapy. The important issue in the collection of PBSCs is to predict their potential capability to reconstitute hematopoiesis. which depends on optimal time of leukapheresis and the quantity of collected PBSCs. • AC and DC conductivity of the MWNT(Multi walled nanotubes)/polyurethane composites were investigated with respect to the various oxidative conditions, where these means acid concentration, treatment temperature, and treatment time. We suppose that the conditions of oxidation of the MWNTS have a certain influence on the degree of functionalization, damages, and dispersion of the MWNT themselves. Futhermore, the electrical properties of the resulting composites strongly depend on the oxidative conditions of MWNTS. The conductivity of the composites produced by using the optimal condition was measured as a function of frequency with volume content of MWNTS. These experimental results were analyzed using percolation theory Electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (SE) of the mixtures of polyurethane (PU), optimized MWNTs, and silver (Ag) is measured in the frequency range from 10 MHz to 6 ㎓ by using ASTM D4935-89. The measured SEs of the mixtures could be controlled from about 55 dB to 85 dB with the compositions of Ag/MWNT and compounding methods(C1, C2).

  • Titanium alloy conducted in this experimental study has superior corrosive resistant and is mainly used in aerospace, automotive and petro-chemical industries. It is also treated with important materials of domestic goods due to improvement of the standard of living. In this study specimens were processed in the wire EDM after annealing, solution treatment and aging. Results were obtained through repeated experments of main rough process and finish process with the change of process parameters. Processing characteristics such as surface hardness, surfaces roughness, shape of processed surface and components were measured. The results confirmed that the above mentioned elements were improved in accordance with the number of process. Therefore, the optimal wire EDM condition in accord with processing characteristics is proposed in this experiment.

  • In this study, the graphite/epoxy prepregs were surface-treated using oxygen plasma, and optimal treatment time was determined measuring the contact angle en the prepreg surface. Interlaminar fracture behavior of surface-treated graphite/epoxy composite was compared with that of regular (untreated) graphite/epoxy composites. The results showed that the contact angle was a minimum when treated for 30 minutes. The interlaminar fracture toughness of surface-treated specimen was improved about 15% compared with that of regular specimen.

  • This paper includes the comparative study between Cr plating and nitriding process with an aim at improving corrosion, wear and maintainability for KNR(Korean Next Generation Rifle) 5.56mm barrel. The endurance test was conducted to compare the performance of standard barrel, Cr plating barrel and nitriding barrel. Main activities are described as follows; optimal Cr plating and nitriding process set-up for KNR 5.56mm barrel; durability test of each barrel(20,000 rounds); salt water immersion test; dispersion, initial velocity, inner diameter data acquisition. According to the results of this firing test, Cr plating barrel is superior to standard barrel and nitriding barrel in view of corrosion, wear and maintainability

  • The development of Fe-based metal matrix composites (MMCs) with high content of hard phase has been approached by combining the use of advanced powder metallurgy techniques like high-energy milling (HEM), cold isostatic pressing (CIP) and vacuum sinterings. A 30% vol. of NbC particles was mixed with Fe powder by HEM in a planetary mill during 10h, characteristing the powder by the observation of morphology and microstructure by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). After of sintering process the variation of density, hardness, carbon content and the microstructural changes observed, permits to find the optimal conditions of processing. Afterwards, a heat treatment study was performed to study the hardenability of the composite.

  • Respiratory diseases in dogs and cats can be classified into respiratory problems brought about as a result of a specific abnormality of the respiratory system; so called primary respiratory disease, and bronchopulmonary problems which occur as a consequence of heart failure; so called secondary respiratory disease. This section will concentrate predominantly on considerations regarding the treatment of primary respiratory diseases. This includes agents used to facilitate bronchodilation, to reduce coughing and various expectorants and mucolytics. In addition, the optimal fluid therapy and various ways of oxygen delivery with complication will be discussed with emphasis In order to understand the indications for, and action of, various drugs used in the treatment of respiratory disease an understanding of normal respiratory physiology is important and these considerations is described in this section for helping to understand further for readers.

  • Surface heat treatment of SM45C round bar by diode laser was simulated to find it's condition by using commercial finite element code MARC. Due to axisymmetric geometry, a quarter of model for SM45C round bar was considered and user subroutines were applied to boundary condition for the heat transfer. Material properties such as conductivity, specific heat and mass density were given as a function of temperature. Rotation speed of round bar and feed rate of beam were considered to design heat source model. Shape parameter values of heat source were determined by beam profile. As results, Three dimensional heat source model for diode laser beam conditions of surface hardening has been designed by the comparison between the finite element analysis results and experimental data on SM45C round bar. Diode laser surface hardening for SM45C round bar was successfully simulated and it should be useful to determine optimal heat treatment condition.
