  • In this paper, we proposed an optimal ILP algorithm on memory address code generation for DSP in embedded system. This paper using 0-1 ILP formulations DSP address generation units should minimize the memory variable data layout. We identify the possibility of the memory assignment of variable based on the constraints condition, and register the address code which a variable instructs in the program pointer. If the process sequence of the program is declared to the program pointer, then we apply the auto-in/decrement mode about the address code of the relevant variable. And we minimize the loads on the address registers to optimize the data layout of the variable. In this paper, in order to prove the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, FICO Xpress-MP Modeling Tools were applied to the benchmark. The result that we apply a benchmark, an optimal memory layout of the proposed algorithm then the general declarative order memory on the address/modify register to reduce the number of loads, and reduced access to the address code. Therefor, we proved to reduce the execution time of programs.

  • Two major issues of the blood bank management are quality assurance and inventory control. Recently, in Korea blood donation has gained popularity increasingly to allow considerable improvement of the quality assurance with respect to blood collection, transportation, storage, component preparation skills and hematological tests. Nevertheless the inventory control, the other issue of blood bank management, has been neglected so far. For the supply of blood by donation barely meets the demand, the blood bank policy on the inventory control has been 'the more the better.' The shortage itself by no means unnecessitate inventory control. In fact, in spite of shortage, no small amount of blood is outdated. The efficient blood inventory control makes it possible to economize the blood usage in the practice of state-of-the-art medical care. For the efficient blood inventory control in Korean hospitals, this tudy is to develop formulae forecasting the standard blood inventory level and suggest a set of policies improving the blood inventory control. For this study informations of $A^+$ whole bloods and packed cells inventory control were collected from a University Hospital and the Central Blood Bank of the Korean Red Cross. Using this informations, 1,461 daily blood inventory records were formulated.48 varieties of blood inventory control environment were identified on the basis of selected combinations of 4 inventory control variables-crossmatch, transfusion, inhospital donation and age of bloods from external supply. In order to decide the optimal blood inventory level for each environment, simulation models were designed to calculate the measures of performance of each environment. After the decision of 48 optimal blood inventory levels, stepwise multiple regression analysis was started where the independent variables were 4 inventory control variables and the dependent variable was optimal inventory level of each environment. Finally the standard blood inventory level decision rule was developed using the backward elimination procedure to select the best regression equation. And the effective alternatives of the issuing policy and crossmatch release period were suggested according to the measures of performance under the condition of the standard blood inventory level. The results of this study' were as follows ; 1. The formulae to calculate the standard blood inventory level($S^*$)was $S^*=2.8617X(d)^{0.9342}$ where d is the mean daily crossmatch(demand) for a blood type. 2. The measures of performace - outdate rate, average period of storage, mean age of transfused bloods, and mean daily available inventory level - were improved after maintenance of the standard inventory level in comparison with the present system. 3. Issuing policy of First In-First Out(FIFO) decreased the outdate rate, while Last In-First Out(LIFO) decreased the mean age of transfused bloods. The decrease of the crossmatch release period reduced the outdate rate and the mean age of transfused bloods.

  • Because Lysimachia mauritiana is not able to maintain the seed viablity for a long time, it has difficulties in using for the ornamental plants or landscape gardening. This study was conducted to elucidate the optimal germination conditions of Lysimachia mauritiana seeds. The germination rate of the seeds was higer in light condition than in dark one. In experment determining the proper germination temperature, the germination rates were 2.2%, 96.9% and 91.2% under 35$\circ $C, 25$\circ $C, and 20$\circ $C, respectively in light condition. The approprate temperature for the germination was 25$\circ $C in light. The decreases of germination rate with the increase of the preservation periods was able to recover by priming pretreated with NaCl solution and KNO$_{3}$ + K$_{3}$H$_{2}$PO mixed solutions. When the storage period was 300 days, the germination rate was 75% without priming treatments. But the seeds primed with NaCl 0.1M and KNO$_{3}$ + K$_{3}$H$_{2}$PO mixed solutions 0.1M, showed germination rate above 90%. T$_{50}$ also was shorten from 5.25 without priming to 3.78 with NaCl 0.1M. Seed priming may induce earlier sprouts and increase germination rate of long-preserved seeds of native wild plants.

  • The objective of this study was to examine the combined effect of fumaric acid with mild heat on the inactivation of microorganisms on spinach. Spinach leaves were inoculated with Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Listeria monocytogenes. Based on the results of single treatment of fumaric acid (0.1, 0.3, and 0.5%) or mild heat (40, 50, and $60^{\circ}C$) regarding the inactivation of the inoculated bacteria, the optimal condition for the combined treatment was suggested to be 0.5% fumaric acid and mild heat treatment at $50^{\circ}C$ for 5 min. The combined treatment of fumaric acid with mild heat caused 2.53 and 2.62 log reductions of the populations of L. monocytogenes and E. coli O157:H7, respectively. In addition, during storage of fresh spinach at $4^{\circ}C$ for 12 d, the combined treatment reduced initially the populations of total aerobic bacteria by 2.77 log CFU/g compared with the control. In particular, after 12 d of storage, the population of total aerobic bacteria for the combined treatment sample was 4.84 log CFU/g, whereas the control sample had 6.66 log CFU/g. Color and vitamin C content of spinach samples were not altered significantly by the combined treatment during storage. These results indicate that the combined treatment of fumaric acid with mild heat is an effective method to control microorganisms on spinach during storage.

  • We raised the white-spotted flower chafer, Protaetia brevitarsis seulensis, from the larvae stage using a fermented mulberry sawdust-base diet at 25℃ and 16:8 h light:dark photoperiod. First, we determined the optimal density of the neonate larvae to be introduced into a rearing box (543 × 363 × 188 mm). The survival rates of the larvae were higher than 80% at 90 days after rearing at 100-175 larval densities but reduced by more than 10% at 200 larval density. The larval weights at 100 to 150 larval densities were similar; however, the weights at 175 and 200 larval densities were lower than those at 100 larval densities, indicating that the rate of weight gain increased under lower density. Based on these results, we inferred that 100-150 larvae was the optimal density. Second, we investigated the storage conditions of the last instar larvae under low temperatures. Four weight groups (1.8-2.0, 2.0-2.3, 2.3-2.5, and 2.5 g) of larvae were stored at 4, 8, and 10℃, respectively. All the larvae at 4℃ died 70 days after storage, whereas 80% of the larvae survived at 8℃ 70 days after storage, indicating that high larval weight was associated with high survival rates. The adults that emerged from larvae with more than 2.3 g and stored for up to 50 days at 4℃ laid few eggs. However, the adults that emerged from all larval weight groups stored for 70 days at 8℃ and 10℃ laid several eggs successfully. Based on these results, we inferred that the last instar larvae with more than 2.3 g could be stored for 30-50 days at 8℃.

  • There are usually plenty of material inventories in a construction site. More inventories can meet unexpected demands, and also they may have an economical advantage by avoiding a probable escalation of raw material costs. On the other hand, these inventories also cause negative aspects to increase costs for storing redundant inventory as well as decreasing construction productivity. Therefore, a proper method of deciding an optimal level of material inventories while considering dynamic variations of resources under uncertainty is very crucial for the economical efficiency of construction projects. This research presents a stochastic modelling method for construction operations, particularly targeting a work process involving on-site fabrication of raw materials like iron-rebar process (delivery, cut and assembly, and placement). To develop the model, we apply the concept of factory physics to depict the overall components of a system. Then, an optimal inventory management model is devised to support purchase decisions where users can make timely actions on how much to order and when to buy raw materials. Also, optimal time lag, which minimizes the storage time for pre-assembled materials, is obtained. To verify this method, a real case is applied to elicit an optimal amount of inventory and time lag. It is found that average values as well as variability of inventory level decreased significantly so as to minimize economic costs related to inventory management under uncertain project condition.

  • This study was attempted to enhance nutritional value of cooked rice by adding milk in cooking water. Cooked and soaked rice with five different levels of milk in cooking water (0%, A: 30%, B: 50%, C: 70%, D: 100%, E) was tested for rheological parameters, fine structural changes, sensory evaluation. 1. Water absorbance of raw rice in cooking water with varying amountes of milk, was tested at $5^{\circ}C$ and $15^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. Water absorption ratio was decreased as milk content was increased and soaking temperature was low. Time for maximum water absorption of sample A was 40 min at 1$15^{\circ}C$ but for sample B to D, it was not reached until 120 min. 2. Electronmicroscopic observation revealed that starch granules of rice lost their regular forms by soaking for 90 minutes, but recovered most of initial regularity after 24 hours. Increase in milk content of soaking water decreased marginal sharpness of the starch granule, presumably due to reduced swelling of the granule. 3. Degree of gelatinization of cooked rice was highest in sample A and progressively decreased as milk content was increased. It was, however, increased in all samples when the cooking water to rice ratio was raised from 160% to 180%. During 4 hour storage, rates of retrogradation were not different between A and B samples, but those of C, D and E were about 2.5 times higher than A and B under the optimal condition of 170% cooking water to rice ratio. This was in the order reverse to hardness order of AC>A, D>E at cooking water to rice ratios of 160% and 170%, above which A sample surpassed the rest of samples. 4. Sensory evaluation conducted by fifteen university students as panelists showed that there were more significant differences among five samples in flavour, texture than appearance and a notable preference for b and C over A, D and E.

  • Vibrio, Photobacterium, Alteromonas and Xenorhabdus species are capable of emitting light, called bioluminescence. They exist in marine, freshwater and terrestrial environments. Bacterial bioluminescent reaction is that reduced riboflavin phosphates and a long-chain aldehyde are oxidized in the presence of molecular oxygen and enzyme luciferase. This experiment aims to develop the proper culture media and to optimize the storage condition for the recovery of bioluminescent activity in Photobacterium phosphoreum. The Luria broth (LB) medium was modified for cultivation of Photobacterium phophoreum, called as modified LB(mLB) medium. The mLB medium is LB fortified with 3% glycerol and 1.5% NaCl. In mLB medium. bacterial growth and bioluminescent activity are 25% higher than those in a Nutrient broth medium. When the cell stocks were stored at $-20^{\circ}C$, $-70^{\circ}C$ and LN2 for 3 months, cell growth and bioluminescent activity of culture after stored at $-20^{\circ}C$ were better than those of other treatments. The highest bioluminescent activity obtained at the late exponential phase in all treatments. When the cell stock was freeze-dried with 5% adonitol as a cryoprotectant, the recovery of cell was better than those of control and freeze-dried cell stock without addition of cryoprotectant.

  • Reversible solid oxide fuel cell (RSOFC) has become a prospective device for energy storage and hydrogen production. Many studies have been conducted around the world focusing on system efficiency improvement and realization. The system should have not only high efficiency but also a certain level of simplicity for stable operation. External waste steam utilization was proved to remarkably increase the efficiency at solid oxide electrolysis system. In this study, RSOFC system coupled with waste steam was proposed and optimized in term of simplicity and efficiency. Ejector for fuel recirculation is selected due to its simple design and high stability. Three system configurations using ejector for fuel recirculation were investigated for performance of design condition. In parametric study, the system efficiencies at different current density were analyzed. The system configurations were simulated using validated lumped model in EBSILON(R) program. The system components, balance of plants, were designed to work in both electrolysis and fuel cell modes, and their off-design characteristics were taken into account. The base case calculation shows that, the system with suction pump results in slightly lower efficiency but stack can be operated more stable with same inlet pressure of fuel and air electrode.

  • Electrochemical alane ($AlH_3$) production process can be provided as a synthesis route which close a reversible cycle. In this study, growth inhibition of dendrite as key issues in this process was investigated. Main cause of dendrite growth was because Al fine powder separated in consumption process of Al electrode was moved to Pd electrode. In an effort to avoid this, use of glass block with uniform holes was the most effective to inhibit the amount of dendrite to that of $AlH_3$. Furthermore, effects of Al electrode (anode) type and electrolyte concentration were investigated and the optimal condition for inhibiting dendrite formation was proposed.
