Unscented Filtering Approach to Magnetometer-Only Orbit Determination

  • The basic difference between the EKF(Extended Kalman Filter) and UKF(Unscented Kalman Filter) stems from the manner in which Gaussian random variables(GRV) are represented for propagating through system dynamics. In the EKF, the state distribution is approximated by a GRV, which is then propagated analytically through the first-order linearization of the nonlinear system. This can possibly introduce large errors in the true posterior mean and covariance of the transformed GRV, which may lead to sub-optimal performance and sometimes divergence of the filter. However, the UKF addresses this problem by using a deterministic sampling approach. The state distribution is also approximated by a GRV, but is now represented using a minimal set of carefully chosen sample points. These sample points completely capture the true mean and covariance of the GRV, and UKF captures the posterior mean and covariance accurately up to the 2nd order(Taylor series expansion) for any nonlinearity. This paper utilizes the UKF to determine spacecraft orbit when only magnetometer is available. Several catastrophic failures of spacecraft in orbit have been attributed to failures of the spacecraft mission. Recently studies on contingency-major sensor failure cases- have been performed. For mission success, contingency design or plan should be implemented in case of a major sensor failure. Therefore the algorithm presented in this paper can be used for a spacecraft without GPS or contingency design in case of GPS failure.

  • 매트릭스 컨버터에서 입력필터의 최적설계는 대단히 중요하다. 그러나 입력필터에 포함된 인덕턴스와 커패시턴스 성분으로 인해 입력 역률이 저하되고 최적 필터 설계에도 불구하고 출력 주파수와 부하에 따라 역률이 바뀌게 되므로 운전조건이 변하면 매트릭스 컨버터의 장점 가운데 하나인 높은 역률을 유지하는 것이 힘들게 된다. 본 논문에서는 매트릭스 컨버터에서 입력필터를 사용할 경우 부하나 출력 주파수가 변동하더라도 입력 역률을 거의 1로 유지할 수 있는 새로운 형태의 공간벡터변조기법을 제안하고 이를 구현할 수 있는 방법을 제시했다.

  • 본 연구는 협대역 통신시스템을 위한 전처리기-등화기 구조의 여파기에서, 곱셈기를 사용하지 않는 최소 복잡도의 디지털 FIR 여파기를 설계하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 여파기는 순환 다항식(cyclotomic polynomial, CP) 여파기와 2차 내삽 다항식(interpolated second order polynomial, ISOP) 등화기로 구성되며, 이 두 여파기가 동시에 혼합 정수 선형 계획법(mixed integer linear programming (MILP))으로 최적 설계되어 최소의 복잡도를 갖는 특성을 갖게 된다. 제안된 방식으로 설계된 여파기들은, 설계 규격을 만족하면서도 기존의 여파기에 비하여 복잡도면에서 월등히 간단함을 확인하였다.

  • 전자계 신호의 시간 변동량을 추출하여 파형으로 나타내는 동작곡선 등은 그 형태가 매우 복잡하다. 이러한 신호의 관측파형에 대하여 특징을 나타내는 변곡점과 같은 신호의 특정 시간을 정확히 결정하는 것이 중요하다. 이러한 특징을 검출하는데 흔히 필터를 설계하여 사용하게 된다. 특히 잡음이 신호에 중첩될 때 자연관측필터를 적용하면 변곡점 추출이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 잡음이 혼재될 경우에 변곡점의 양호한 추출을 위하여 최적의 차수의 자연관측필터 설계방법을 제안 한다.

  • Five factors are identified, which affect the performance of optical filter: 1) type of optical glass, 2) existence of Fe, 3) photo pic coating type, 4) coating form, and 5) coating thickness. If we consider all the levels of five factors, there are 360 possible candidates. We determined five evaluation criteria, which can be used to evaluate possible candidates. For the performance measures we selected white-state avearge voltage, black-state average voltage, and black-state error rate. And we added economic criterion and quality and maintenance criterion. Through the two-step statistical analysis of white-state avearge voltage, black-state average voltage, and black-state error rates, we selected final four candidates. Based on the five criteria we finally determined optimal optical filter using AHP.

비대칭 노이즈 영상에서 SA 필터의 성능 분석 (The performance analysis of SA fitters for images corrupted by biased noise)

  • SA 필터는 선형 필터와 순서통계에 기초한 비선형 필터의 특성을 모두 포함하는 광범위한 필터 군으로 소개되었으며, 필터의 구조는 다단 필터의 형태로 첫째 단를 이루는 부 필터(sub-filter)의 종류에 따라 SAMAX, SAMIN, SAMED, SAXOR 필터로 불린다. 본 논문에서는 비대칭 노이즈 환경에서 최적 SAMAX 필터와 SAMED 필터를 설계하고 영상신호에 대하여 적용함으로써 그 성능을 비교 분석 하였다. 실험 결과 대칭 노이즈에서는 두 필터의 성능이 동일하지만 비대칭 노이즈에서는 SAMAX 필터가 SAMED 필터 보다 우수한 성능을 가진다는 사실을 보여주었다. 이러한 새로운 사실은 SA 필터의 응용에서 기초적인 지침으로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Optimal Optical Filters of Fluorescence Excitation and Emission for Poultry Fecal Detection

  • Purpose: An analytic method to design excitation and emission filters of a multispectral fluorescence imaging system is proposed and was demonstrated in an application to poultry fecal inspection Methods: A mathematical model of a multispectral imaging system is proposed and its system parameters, such as excitation and emission filters, were optimally determined by linear discriminant analysis (LDA). An alternating scheme was proposed for numerical implementation. Fluorescence characteristics of organic materials and feces of poultry carcasses are analyzed by LDA to design the optimal excitation and emission filters for poultry fecal inspection. Results: The most appropriate excitation filter was UV-A (about 360 nm) and blue light source (about 460 nm) and band-pass filter was 660-670 nm. The classification accuracy and false positive are 98.4% and 2.5%, respectively. Conclusions: The proposed method is applicable to other agricultural products which are distinguishable by their spectral properties.

  • Active clamp forward converter provides zero voltage switching, low voltage stress and wide input voltage range. The design technique leads to getting a higher efficiency under high switching frequency and optimal operating range. It is designed for notebook computer adapter with free input voltage and 19.5V/120W output ratings. The efficiency is measured to more than 90%. One of the most important circuit parts is the filter inductor besides the transformer in active clamp forward converter. In this paper, the process of inductor design is listed optimally.

Air Shot Blast 작업실 내부 환기 시스템 개선에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis on the Ventilation System Improvement in Air Shot Blast Room)

  • The purpose of this study is to design an effective atmospheric environment system through the design of the dust collection in the air shot room being operated in a domestic shipyard. The ventilation system in the current air shot room mostly uses a dust collecting filter to filter internal particles and releases them in the atmosphere. A conventional design was made too much. In order to prevent an error and draw an optimal design, Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tried to be applied only to air shot room. In the advanced design technique, computer simulation was conducted to secure basic design data. In order to find the basic design of the ventilation system and the flow field in the air shot room at propeller mold workplace of a shipyard, the CFD was conducted. In the case of Model-1 as a conventional workplace, where air flows in the inlet due to the subatmospheric pressure generated by inhalation of an air blower and flows out to the outlet, a discharge flow rate was somewhat low, and there was the holdup zone in the room. In the case of Model-2 as an improved model, the ventilation system was improved in the Push-Pull type, and the holdup of the internal flow field was improved.

  • Although metal ball can be used as parts of bearing or metal filter, that is used by single product with solder ball or shot ball. Also, according as demand of metal ball of various diameter increase, processing property 솜 extension of coverage are important. Especially an optimal design of cutting roller was investigated for determining appropriate dimensions of components of manufacturing system. In this study, the effects of the diameter and the round radius of cutting roller were calculated and analyzed. We applied data of rigid-plastic FEM Simulation in basis design of equipment to solve these issues, and confirmed processing factor about metal ball manufacturing process that use cutting process of metal wire in this research
