Demand for high power motors is rapidly increasing as the 4th industry and convergence technology has recently emerged. In order to produce high-strength permanent magnets, the magnets used for magnetization have been increased from DC 300V in the 1970s to DC 2.5kV in the 2010s, Up to DC 10kV in the 2030s, It is expected that higher voltage will be used to magnetize. However, in the case of a magnetizer using an existing electric signal control device, it is necessary to use a control device with a high-voltage insulation function in case a high voltage used for magnetization is leaked to the control device. If a short circuit accident occurs, the controller must be shut down and serious problems such as excessive repair costs arise. In this study, a control system adopting optical communication method instead of electric signal control method is proposed to prevent leakage currents in high-voltage magnetizer. We design a transmitter(Tx) and a receiver(Rx) device for the optical communication control device and implemented a prototype connecting the optical cable. In order to demonstrate the utility of high-voltage magnetizer using the optical communication control device, we analyzed the initial cost and the yearly cost for the years to analyze the net present value. As a result, In the case of the low-voltage magnetizer, the electric signal control method cost less, As the operating voltage of the magnetizer becomes higher. It is confirmed that it takes less cost when the optical communication control device is used.

Recently, by the increasing of data transmission rates, PCB is required high-speed data transmission rates and thin packaging. So optical PCB which is the combination of electrical layer and optical layer can be one of the solution to overcome the limitations of conventional electrical PCB. The most important factor in the implementation of optical PCB is optical interconnection. So the research on high-efficiency and passive alignment has been active. In this paper, we suggest built-in lens pluggable waveguide and we simulate its coupling efficiency and structural stability. Optical simulation results show that the proposed structure has higher efficiency than no lens structure about 1.86 times in transmitter and about 1.42 times in receiver. In structure simulation, inner lens has no damage in desorption process. Therefore, we shown that the proposed structure has a high coupling efficiency and structural stability.
Sensor system which can detect a flowing cell is designed and fabricated by semiconductor processing and EDM(Electro-chemical Discharge drilling Method). Two methods are used in this paper; 1) optical method which measures the trasmitted light through the cell passage between transmitter and receiver, 2) impedance method which measures impedance change between electrodes, when cell flows in the cell passage. Experimental result using tabaco leaves shows that the ouput value by optical method is 0.2V to 0.7V, and the output by impedance method is 0.2V to 2V, which is bigger, but it includes an avoidable noises.

NG-SDH system is connected with networks throughout optical fibers. Network synchronization controller is a necessary for the data synchronization in each optical transmission system. In this paper, we have design and implementation the network synchronization controller using SOPC(system on a programmable chip) design technic. For this network synchronization controller we use FPGA in Altera. FPGA includes 32bit CPU, DPRAM(dual port ram), digital input/output port, transmitter and receiver framer, phase difference detector. We also confirm that designed network synchronization controller satisfies the ITU-T G.813 timing requirements.
Assuming perfect channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter and receiver, the optimization problem of maximizing the minimum Euclidean distance between two received signals by a linear precoder is considered for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with arbitrary dimensions and arbitraryary quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) input. A general precoding framework is first presented based on the Gram matrix, which is shown for 2-dimensional (2-D) and 3-dimensional (3-D) MIMO systems when employing the ellipse expanding method (EEM). An extended precoder for high-dimensional MIMO system is proposed following the precoding framework, where the Gram matrix for high-dimensional precoding matrix can be generated through those chosen from 2-D and 3-D results in association with a permutation matrix. A complexity-reduced maximum likelihood detector is also obtained according to the special structure of the proposed precoder. The analytical and numerical results indicate that the proposed precoder outperforms the other precoding schemes in terms of both minimum distance and bit error rate (BER).

In this study, we fabricated the advanced telemetry system that transmitting media use radio frequency(RF) for the middle range measurement of the physiological signals and receiving media use optical for electromagnetic interference problem. The telemetry system within a size of 65$\times$125$\times$45mm consists of three parts: RF transmitter, optical receiver and physiological signal processing CMOS one chip. Advantages of proposed telemetry system is wireless middle range(50m) FM transmission, reduce electromagnetic interference to a minimum which enables a comfortable bed-side telemetry system. The monitoring system was designed in the structure of dual-processor for the real time processing. The use of the one channel in our study made it possible the real time wavelet transformation of electrocardiogram data of 360Hz, 16 bits for every 1.42 seconds.
Visible light communication (VLC) performs illumination and communication simultaneously, thus it is important to prevent the flicker due to the optical power variation during data transmission and at the same time to have dimming control capability. In this paper, we used Manchester code for flicker-prevention and dimming control. In the transmitter, the duty factor of the Manchester code was used for controlling the LED illumination. In the receiver, the edge-spike signals of an RC-high pass filter were used for recovering the Manchester code while preventing the adjacent noise light. In experiments, the LED light was kept flicker-free and the average optical power was controlled in the range of 8~68 % of the continuous wave (CW) LED light by changing the duty factor of the Manchester code.

In order to apply to land mine detection effectively, GPR using an optical electric field sensor as a receiver has been developed. The optical electric field sensor is very small and uses optical fiber instead of metallic coaxial cable. With the combination of these advantages and the bistatic radar system, it can be possible for an operator to measure quite flexible and safely. The sensor has been tested in stepped frequency radar system with frequency which consists of a vector network analyzer, a fixed double ridged horn antenna as transmitter. For considering effectiveness in real field, we applied impulse radar system, which consist of a digital oscilloscope and a impulse generator to produce the impulse. Detection of a PMN2 mine model was carried out by the impulse radar system at a sand pit. The PMN2 were detected clearly with sufficiently high resolution, the target contrast was almost the same while the scanning time decreased down to 1/100.

In this paper, it is investigated that the limitation due to the asymmetry of optical power with respect to optical phase conjugator(OPC) in mid-span spectral inversion(MSSI) for compensating optical signal distortion due to group velocity dispersion(GVD) and nonlinearities generated in fiber by combining with lumped dispersion management(DM) technique into MSSI. Two kinds of lumped DM configuration(configuration A and configuration B) are considered and compared each other in this research. Configuration A consists of two dispersion compensating fiber(DCF) span positioned after transmitter and before receiver, respectively. Configuration B consists of two dispersion compensating fiber(DCF) span positioned before and after OPC placed at middle of total transmission link, respectively. It is confirmed that the transmission performances are more improved by the configuration A combined with MSSI than configuration B. Also, it is confirmed that the best performance of overall channels are obtained by making net residual dispersion(NRD) to have positive value in self phase modulation(SPM)-limited WDM transmission systems, irrelevant to the configuration of DM.

The VLC (visible light communication) system is communication technology using visible rays (RGB) that come out in LED device. It is energy curtailment effect and possible in ubiquitous network service applications. Also, VLC system has the above advantage about that the communication throughout the whole room is enabled by high power lighting and lighting equipment with white colored LED which are easy to install and have good outward appearance. However, the signal detection performance for the receiver near the network of transmitter boundary is severely degraded and the transmission efficiency decreased due to the influence of the interference signal from the adjacent networks. In this paper, we propose an interference mitigation method with optical beamforming in VLC systems, and evaluate the reception performance. For the system BER, the proposed optical beamforming transmission demonstrates the performance enhancement compared to the not using the optical beamforming scheme, and up to about 5~6dB SNR performance gain is achieved.
