Attribution of Responsibility, Risk Perception, and Perceived Corporate Social Responsibility in Predicting Policy Support for Climate Change Mitigation: Evidence from South Korea

  • A recent nationwide survey reported that South Koreans perceive large corporations as the party that should be the most responsible for tackling climate change. This public opinion result offers insight into the argument that defining who is responsible for the climate change issue can guide campaigners and policymakers in designing effective communication strategies. This study examines how attributing responsibility to large corporations can affect behavioral intention to support government policy and regulation via a moderated mediation model of the perceived risk of climate change and corporate social responsibility (CSR). A nationwide online survey of 295 South Koreans was conducted. The findings reveal an indirect effect of responsibility attribution on behavioral intention through risk perception. Moreover, perceived CSR moderated the causal link between risk perception and behavioral intention, such that South Koreans reported higher levels of behavioral intention when they reported higher CSR. However, perceived CSR failed to moderate the indirect effect. These findings have implications for communication processes and policymaking to address climate change problems in South Korea.

Knowledge and Attitude about Adjusted Water Fluoridation among Parents in Kimje, Korea (전라북도 김제시 일부 학부모들의 수돗물불소농도조정사업에 관한 의식)

  • The purpose of this study was to survey the knowledge of parents, to prepare basic data for the development of adjusted water fluoridation program. The survey with self-administrated questionnaire was carried out to n 1,418 parents of school-children in Kimje city and then analyzed obtained the results. The data were analysed using the chisquare test. Over all, 58.4 percent of parents has heard about adjusted water fluoridation. 50.1% respondents knew very well the object of water fluoridation program which is implemented to prevent dental caries. The recognition rate of water fluoridation were different according to respondent's education level(p=.000) and income(p=.019). The approval rate of water fluoridation were different according to respondent's education level age level and income(p<.001). The parents had the affirmative opinion for the adjusted water fluoridation was 4.5 times more than the negative opinion. Respondents approving and opposing for the implementation of water fluoridation were 82.3% and 17.7%, respectively. The recognition rate and approval rate of water fluoridation had the affirmative opinion for the adjusted water fluoridation was more than the negative opinion. Respondents approving and opposing for the implementation of water fluoridation were 85.5% and 14.2%, respectively. The parents of school children had affirmative opinion to the adjusted water fluoridation. So for implementation of the water fluoridation, it is required to reinforce education for inhabitants through delivery of right information and various publicity activities.

Irish public opinion on assisted human reproduction services: Contemporary assessments from a national sample

  • Objective: To measure Irish opinion on a range of assisted human reproduction (AHR) treatments. Methods: A nationally representative sample of Irish adults (n=1,003) were anonymously sampled by telephone survey. Results: Most participants (77%) agreed that any fertility services offered internationally should also be available in Ireland, although only a small minority of the general Irish population had personal familiarity with AHR or infertility. This sample finds substantial agreement (63%) that the Government of Ireland should introduce legislation covering AHR. The range of support for gamete donation in Ireland ranged from 53% to 83%, depending on how donor privacy and disclosure policies are presented. For example, donation where the donor agrees to be contacted by the child born following donation, and anonymous donation where donor privacy is completely protected by law were supported by 68% and 66%, respectively. The least popular (53%) donor gamete treatment type appeared to be donation where the donor consents to be involved in the future life of any child born as a result of donor fertility treatment. Respondents in social class ABC1 (58%), age 18 to 24 (62%), age 25 to 34 (60%), or without children (61%) were more likely to favour this donor treatment policy in our sample. Conclusion: This is the first nationwide assessment of Irish public opinion on the advanced reproductive technologies since 2005. Access to a wide range of AHR treatment was supported by all subgroups studied. Public opinion concerning specific types of AHR treatment varied, yet general support for the need for national AHR legislation was reported by 63% of this national sample. Contemporary views on AHR remain largely consistent with the Commission for Assisted Human Reproduction recommendations from 2005, although further research is needed to clarify exactly how popular opinion on these issues has changed. It appears that legislation allowing for the full range of donation options (and not mandating disclosure of donor identity at a stipulated age) would better align with current Irish public opinion.

Movie Recommended System base on Analysis for the User Review utilizing Ontology Visualization (온톨로지 시각화를 활용한 사용자 리뷰 분석 기반 영화 추천 시스템)

  • Recently, researches for the word of mouth(WOM) imply that consumers use WOM informations of products in their purchase process. This study suggests methods using opinion mining and visualization to understand consumers' opinion of each goods and each markets. For this study we conduct research that includes developing domain ontology based on reviews confined to "movie" category because people who want to have watching movie refer other's movie reviews recently, and it is analyzed by opinion mining and visualization. It has differences comparing other researches as conducting attribution classification of evaluation factors and comprising verbal dictionary about evaluation factors when we conduct ontology process for analyzing. We want to prove through the result if research method will be valid. Results derived from this study can be largely divided into three. First, This research explains methods of developing domain ontology using keyword extraction and topic modeling. Second, We visualize reviews of each movie to understand overall audiences' opinion about specific movies. Third, We find clusters that consist of products which evaluated similar assessments in accordance with the evaluation results for the product. Case study of this research largely shows three clusters containing 130 movies that are used according to audiences'opinion.

  • This study is an attempt to explore the perceptions of the public on women in higher education and employment, using data from the World Value Survey, had 90,350 respondents, of which 48.03% are male (N=43,391) and 51.87% are female (N=46,878). This study indicated that women, younger people, upper class people, religious people, and married people are more likely to have strong views against women's education and employment.

  • The purpose of this study is to research the residents' subjective opinion the apartment noise. To attain this purpose. we investigated 182 residents' responses at “Da” apartment in Chonju. . Analysis showed the following results. The residents which are living in the building next to the road strongly felt the external traffic noise. The residents living on the first to fifth above the sixth to fifteenth also are suffering from the internal noise. Generally speaking. the apartment residents' life are considerably disturbing with noises. Especially this disturbance was serious in summer.

  • 최근 빅데이터를 통해 여러 가지 분석을 진행하고 있다. 다만 이러한 방식으로는 키워드에 대해 여론에 대한 분석을 거치지 않아 정확한 분석이 힘들다는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점의 개선을 위해 데이터를 수집하고 이에 대해 감정분석을 수행하는 컨테이너 기반의 시스템을 제안한다. 감정분석 시스템을 적용한다면 키워드에 대해 분석 시에 정확도가 더욱 높아질 것으로 전망된다.
