To minimize IT operational risks and the opportunity cost for lost business hours. it is necessary to have preparedness in advance and mitigation activities for minimization of a loss due to the business discontinuity. There are few cases that banks have a policy on systematic management, system recovery and protection activities against system failure. and most developers and system administrators response based on their experience and the instinct. This article focuses on the mitigation model development for minimizing the incidents of disk unit in IT operational risks. The model will be represented by a network model which is composed of the three items as following: (1) the risk factors(causes, attributes and indicators) of IT operational risk. (2) a periodic time interval through an analysis of historical data. (3) an index or an operational regulations related to the examination of causes of an operational risk. This article will be helpful when enterprise needs to hierarchically analyze risk factors from various fields of IT(information security, information telecommunication, web application servers and so on) and develop a mitigation model. and it will also contribute to the reduction of operational risks on information systems.
This study indicates direction on establishment of the operational plan for disaster mitigation and its implementation for maintaining business continuity of the local company of the first step, and seeks plans for maintaining their continuity through the establishment of early counter system constructed for achieving lasting safe at the any disaster. For achieving it, we investigated the standard of disaster management selected by the government called "Incident Preparedness and Operational Continuity Plan" Guideline, and investigated a guideline to be easily applied to domestic companies. And, we also studied on how to build the operational plan of disaster mitigation and apply IT techniques to A corporation. Especially, this study indicates the models of establishment of risk assessment, impact analysis, prevention and mitigation plan, response management plan for the establishment of plan among 5 main steps on "Incident Preparedness and Operational Continuity Management" Guideline. We devised the plan to activate the disaster mitigation activity throughout the country. It shows the skills to be prepared to upgrade the level of disaster response in this study.
Organizations and customers lose if business activities we discontinued by an incident of information systems under the current business environment because they pursue real time enterprise and on demand enterprise. The loss includes the intangible decline in brand image, customer separation, and the tangible loss such as decrease in business profits. Thus. it is necessary to have preparedness in advance and mitigation for minimization of a loss due to the business discontinuity and information system's operational risks. This paper suggests the mitigation model for minimizing the incidents of disk unit in information system's operational risks. The model will be represented by a network model which is composed of the three items as following: (1) causes, attributes, indicators of an operational risk, (2) a periodic time through an analysis of historical data, (3) an index or a regulation related to the examination of causes of an operational risk.

We analyzed mitigation strategies for steam generator tube rupture (SGTR) accidents using MARS code under both full-power and low-power and shutdown (LPSD) conditions. In general, there are two approaches to mitigating SGTR accidents: supplementing the reactor coolant inventory using safety injection systems and depressurizing the reactor coolant system (RCS) by cooling it down using the intact steam generator. These mitigation strategies were compared from the viewpoint of break flow from the ruptured steam generator tube, the core integrity, and the possibility of the main steam safety valves opening, which is associated with the potential release of radiation. The "cooldown strategy" is recommended for break flow control, whereas the "RCS make-up strategy" is better for RCS inventory control. Under full power, neither mitigation strategy made a significant difference except for on the break flow while, in LPSD modes, the RCS cooldown strategy resulted in lower break and discharge flows, and thus less radiation release. As a result, using the cooldown strategy for an SGTR under LPSD conditions is recommended. These results can be used as a fundamental guide for mitigation strategies for SGTR accidents according to the operational mode.
This paper deal with a method for calculating the continuity of Korea Augmentation Satellite System (KASS), which was completed in Korea in December 2023, and a plan to respond in the event that a continuity hazard situation occurs during operation. For this purpose, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) continuity standards, Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), and European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) continuity cases are examined in this paper. According to the measures recommended by the ICAO, when the number of continuity risks exceeds a certain level and the level drops drastically, various mitigation operations by country are implemented. Through this, if KASS does not meet ICAO continuity standards in the future, such measures can be referred to. In addition, this paper computes the short-term KASS continuity during the test broadcast period. Although continuity does not meet the ICAO standards, although this test period is too short, further meaningful analysis in the future is required. Additionally, this paper carried out an analysis of the timing and period to systematically calculate the meaningful value of continuity.

This research analyzed the operational status of fire protection system managers who execute self inspection of the fire equipment in the specific fire protection facilities and presented the improvement scheme. Being made up inquiry for job environment, institutional environment, and operational environment for the subject of fire protection system managers who execute self inspection to complement the fire equipment inspection by city public fire protection service, the issues of the operational status of the institution of fire protection system managers were positively understood. The research result showed the conflict among building owner, fire equipment inspector, and fire protection system manager was existed due to the legal and institutional inertia to the self inspection, so it is judged that mutual complementary and cooperative relation should be established.
The paper introduces the application of flood monitoring and assessment by remote sensing and GIS in china and describes the frame of operational system for practical performance of flood disaster mitigation. In addition, The operational system for flood monitoring and assessment in RSTAC/ MWR and its application in the floods of 1998,1999 in china are introduced.
Two types of responses to climate change exist. First is climate mitigation which includes efforts of reducing CO2 and GHG emissions. Second response is climate adaptation process which is establishing climate resilience in the supply chain. The two are inherently different since mitigation strategy focus on eliminating the source of climate change and is long term in nature but adaptation strategy is moderating the impact of potential or current climate change. In order to embed climate resilience in the supply chain, mitigation strategies and adaption strategies must be implemented simultaneously. Corporation's adaptation to climate change related natural disaster can be seen as a response that includes mitigation and adaptation strategies simultaneously. A comprehensive climate change resilience supply chain approach has to be developed. This paper illustrated guidelines and adaptation process framework businesses can utilize in order to build climate resilience. Screening process before the actual assessment of risk was introduced as well as the whole adaptation process of establishing information system and strengthening climate-related operational flexibility.
To properly extract the strain components under varying operational conditions is very important in bridge health monitoring. The abnormal sensor readings can be correctly identified and the expected operational performance of the bridge can be better understood if each strain components can be accurately quantified. In this study, strain components under varying load conditions, i.e., temperature variation and live-load variation are evaluated based on field strain measurements collected from a real concrete box-girder bridge. Temperature-induced strain is mainly regarded as the trend variation along with the ambient temperature, thus a smoothing technique based on the wavelet packet decomposition method is proposed to estimate the temperature-induced strain. However, how to effectively extract the vehicle-induced strain is always troublesome because conventional threshold setting-based methods cease to function: if the threshold is set too large, the minor response will be ignored, and if too small, noise will be introduced. Therefore, an autoencoder framework is proposed to evaluate the vehicle-induced strain. After the elimination of temperature and vehicle-induced strain, the left of which, defined as the model error, is used to assess the operational performance of the bridge. As empirical techniques fail to detect the degraded state of the structure, a clustering technique based on Gaussian Mixture Model is employed to identify the damage occurrence and the validity is verified in a simulation study.

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) plays a pivotal role in predicting the potential environmental impacts of proposed developments and planning appropriate mitigation measures to minimize effects on species. However, as concerns over biodiversity loss rise, there's ongoing debate about the efficacy of these mitigation plans. In this study, we utilized data from EIAs and post-environmental impact surveys to understand the trends in biodiversity during construction and operation phases. By examining 30 urban development projects, we categorized species richness indices of mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles into pre-construction, during construction, and post-construction operational stages. The biodiversity trends were analyzed based on the rate of change in these indices. The results revealed three distinct biodiversity change patterns: (A) An initial increase in biodiversity indices post-development, followed by a gradual decline over time; (B) a sustained increase in biodiversity as a result of mitigation measures; and (C) a continuous decline in biodiversity post-development. Furthermore, all species exhibited a higher rate of biodiversity decline during the construction phase compared to the operational phase, with mammals showing the most significant rate of change. Notably, the biodiversity change rate during operation was generally lower than during construction. In particular, mammals seemed to be most influenced by mitigation measures, displaying the smallest rate of change. This study provides empirical evidence on the efficacy of mitigation measures and deliberates on ways to enhance their effectiveness in minimizing the adverse impacts of urban development on biodiversity. These findings can serve as foundational data for addressing terrestrial biodiversity reduction.
