  • This paper examines the operating performance of firms that for a four-year period, held more than 15% of their assets in cash and cash equivalents. During next four years, operating performance of firms maintaining high cash persistently is greater than the performance of firms matched by size and industry or firms adopting transitory high cash policy. Furthermore, the effect of persistent cash holdings on operating performance depends on the ownership structure and the level of information asymmetry. Foreign investors deteriorate the operating performance of high cash firms, suggesting that potential M&A and the pressure of excessive dividend reduce the usefulness of cash. The level of information asymmetry enhances the operating performance for the firms adopting persistent high cash policy. It suggests that cash holdings reduce the costly external financing and underinvestment problem for firms with high information asymmetry.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study lies in investigating nursing and medical staff perceptions on the importance of surgical patient safety protocol, teamwork, and patient safety culture, and how their grasp of the factors affects the degree of their performance of the protocol. Methods: A survey was conducted on 249 nurses and medical staff participating in the operating rooms of one higher general hospital in Seoul, using a 5-point scale self-reported questionnaire. Logistic regression analyses were used. Results: Operating room nurses yielded the highest scores on both the importance of the patient safety protocol and its performance. In patient safety culture, the operating medical staff yielded significantly higher scores than those of operating room nurses. Perception of the importance of the patient safety protocol and teamwork had a significant effect on the nurses' complete performance of the protocol. Conclusion: It is important to create a safety culture, where all the staff can actively and freely communicate with one another through team-based training programs. By enhancing teamwork and patient safety culture, it will be possible to establish the surgical patient safety protocol and to improve the performance of the protocol by health professionals.

  • To derive an efficient operating system for business incubators, this study examined the operating performance according to incubator operating system and incubator manager. The survey targets were tenants of business incubators and factor analysis. Regression analysis was performed according to the reliability analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis and parameter using the 19 Ver program SPSS analysis. As a result, the business incubators and business incubators operating system were found to be an important factor and among these, the H / W and system S / W systems were identified as significantly influential factors. On the other hand, this hypothesis of the performance of the support system and characteristics of the incubator manager was rejected for the variable parameters, which always appear to influence the other characteristic factors of the manager. Operational performance can be divided into an incubator performance center and tenant's performance, and the performance of the tenants were analyzed by the significant effect on the managers characteristics.

  • The effectiveness of informatization can vary depending on the level of operation of the information system as well as investment and installation. This study investigates and analyzes the information system operating environment and quality level of small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in Korea, and investigates how it affects the performance indicators of companies. The influence of the environmental factors operating the information system on the productivity performance and financial performance through the quality level of the information system was analyzed through the structural model. As a result of the analysis, it can be said that the higher the level of information system operating environment factors, the higher the quality level, the higher the quality level, the higher the productivity performance, and the higher the productivity performance, the higher the financial performance. It is judged that the effect of informatization depends on the operating environment and quality level after the installation of the information system.

  • This study examine operating system for eco-friendly container terminal and shows the usefulness of the Importance-performance analysis grid in evaluating container terminal operating technology. Importance-performance analysis enables management to evaluate and identify the major strengths and weaknesses of eco-friendly container terminal operating technology's key success factors. This study identified a list of 20 items from the eco-friendly container terminal literature reviews, and each item was rated using a 5-point Likert scale. Responses were obtained from 250 questionnaires. The importance-performance grid shows that 13 items fall into the "Keep up the good work" quadrant, 2 items fall into the "Concentrate here" quadrant, 2 items fall into the "Low priority" quadrant, and 3 items fall into the "Possible overkill" quadrant. The findings suggest that an eco-friendly container terminal operating technology is necessary to enhance eco-friendly operating system. The results are useful in identifying areas for strategic focus to help container terminal managers develop eco-friendly container terminal operating technology strategies.

  • This paper describes a method that is integrated trace for real-time virtualization environment. This method has solved the problem that the performance trace may not be able to analyze integrated method between heterogeneous operating systems which is consists of real-time operating systems and general-purpose operating system. In order to solve this problem, we have attempted to reuse the performance analysis function in general-purpose operating system, thereby real-time operating systems can be analyzed along with general-operating system. Furthermore, we have implemented a prototype based on ARM Cortex-A15 dual-core processor. By using this integrated trace method, real-time system developers can be improved productivity and reliability of results on real-time virtualization environment.

  • This paper deals with the research for the effects of the operating parameters that could be used for a transcritical $CO_2$ mobile air-conditioning system on the cooling performance. The experimental conditions of the performance tests for a system and components such as a gas cooler and an evaporator were suggested to compare the performance of each with the standardized test conditions. And this research presents experimental results for the performance characteristics of a $CO_2$ mobile air conditioning system with various operating conditions such as different gas cooler inlet pressures and frontal air velocities/temperatures passing through an evaporator and a gas cooler. Experimental results show that the cooling capacity was more than 5kW and coefficient of performance (COP) was more than 2.1, also. Therefore, we checked that the mobile air-conditioning system using $CO_2$ has good performance compared to that using HFC-134a.

  • This study investigates the impact of capital adequacy and operating efficiency on the performance of Saudi banks. In the first part, the study includes a brief introduction focused on the impact of capital adequacy and operating efficiency on the performance of banks. In the second part, a literature review examined various studies on the impact of capital adequacy and operating efficiency on banks' performance. The study methodology was presented in the third part, based on a sample that included all local Saudi banks from 2010 to 2021, using a study model to answer the study hypotheses. The results of the panel data regression indicated that CAR had a negative and significant effect on ROA and ROE but a negative and non-significant effect on NIM. CIR has a negative and significant effect on ROA, ROE, and NIM, while SIZE, LTD, and MS have a positive and significant effect on ROA, ROE, and NIM. Elimination of defects has no significant effect on return on assets, return on equity, and the NIF. But CR has no significant effect on ROA and ROE but has a positive and significant effect on NIM.

  • To provide a design direction for high efficiency thermoelectric module(TEM) dehumidifiers, the effects of design factors of TEM dehumidifiers on dehumidification energy efficiency and performance were numerically investigated. The design factors considered in this study are the TEM capacity, the performance of heat exchangers on the heating and cooling surfaces of the TEM. The higher capacity of the TEM results the higher dehumidification energy efficiency and performance at some operating voltage. The enhanced performance of the heat exchanger on heating surface increased the dehumidification energy efficiency and performance at all the operating voltage. The enhanced performance of the heat exchanger on cooling surface decreased the dehumidification energy efficiency and performance at all operating voltage.

  • Direct Methanol Fuel Cell(DMFC) using Pt-Ru electrocatlayst and Nafion menbrane can provide high performance if operating conditions are well designed. In this study, operating temperature, pressure, and fuel flow rate were changed to obtain optimum operating conditions of DHFC single cell. Performance of DMFC were increased by the increase of operating temperature. The concentration of fuel methanol was 2.0M $CH_{3}OH$ and pressure difference of cathode and anode was 2 atm were showed maximum performance of DMFC single cell with showing the current density of 160 $mA/cm^2$ at 0.2V cell voltage.
