Photodegradation of Cellulosics -Part 1: Effects of Temperature and Humidity on Tear Strength Reduction- (면섬유의 Photodegradation에 대한 연구 -온도, 습도가 인열강도 감소에 미치는 영향-)

  • 일반적으로 면섬유는 햇빛에 의해서 변색되거나 약해지며 또 그 외에도 여러가지 물리적, 화학적인 변화를 일으키게 된다. 구체적인 화학반응의 메카니즘은 사용되는 광선의 스펙트럼, 대기조건(실내인 경우는 실내 환경조건) , 산소의 유무 그리고 염료 등 첨가물의 종류와 같은 여러 요소에 의해 크게 영향을 받게 된다. 환경조건 중에서 산소의 존재는 매우 중요하지만 open system에서 산소의 농도가 일정하다고 가정할 때 면섬유가 접하고 있는 환경조건 중에서 온도와 습도는 photodegradation의 속도를 결정짓는 중요한 요인으로 작용하게 된다. 박물관,:기념관, 도서관 등의 소장품이 자연광선이나 인공조명으로부터 손상되는 것을 막기 위해서는 먼저 이들의 photodegradation 현상에 대한 연구를 필요로 한다. 본 연구에서는 면시칩포를 자연광선과 가장 흡사한 스펙트럼을 가진 xenon arc lamp를 사용한 내후도 시험기내에서 온도와 습도를 조절하여 이에 따른 반응속도의 차이를 인열강도의 감소와 중합도 저하로 측정하였다. 1차 반응식은 실험결과를 설명하는데 유용하였으며 온 · 습도의 증가는 반응속도를 증가시키는 것으로 나타나 기존의 상반된 연구결과의 차이를 입증하였다. 또 온도와 습도는 상호관련이 있는 것으로 나타났으며 고온인 경우습도의 영향을 더 크게 받는 것으로 분석되었다. 반응의 활성에너지는 $30\~75\%$ RH에서는 12 kcal/mole 정도이며 수분의 함량이 낮을수록 활성화에너지는 커지는 것으로 나타나 수분은 섬유소 분자구조내에서 가소제 (plasticizer)의 역할을 하는 것으로 판명되었다.

  • The powertrain is an important factor for the interior and exterior noise behavior of the vehicle Thus, the noise vibration and harshness(NVH) behavior of an engine is becoming a major target of the powertrain development. This paper describes the analyses with the aim to reduce the vibration and noise of an advanced inline 4-cylinder diesel engine block by use of CAE methods. The characteristics of an engine block as a main excitation source of car interior noise is studied. Particularly, The effect of balance shaft to reduce the 2nd order engine excitation force is calculated by forced vibration and radiated noise analysis. The engine exitation forces are obtained under real operating conditions. It is shown that the reduction of vibration and noise level by adapting blancing shaft is well predicted and rediated noise is directly related to the surface velocity of engine block.

  • Disposal of municipal solid waste has become a major problem in many countries around the world. As landfill space for the disposal of ash from Municipal Solid Waste Incineration (MSWI) becomes scarce, numerous reports and researches address the various environmental issues about the municipal solid waste incineration waste management and other particulate matters with the range of 10 ~ 2.5. Although in many developing and industrialization countries landfill with the disposal of municipal solid waste, open incineration has become a common practice. Large municipal waste incinerators are major industrial facilities and have the potential to be significant sources of environmental pollution. Despite the significant volume reduction from incineration, waste recycling is important to ensuring the future welfare of mankind. The main goal of the present work is the physical and chemical characterization of the local incineration bottom ash towards its eventual re-utilization. In this paper, we reported the studies on physical and chemical characteristics of municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash and bottom ash containing particulate matter whose particulate sizes are lower than $PM_{10}$, $PM_{2.5}$ and heavy metal were investigated.

  • For obtaining high manganese steel plates, the study has been made on the optimum conditions in melting, forging, rolling and water toughning treatment practices. The optimum water toughning temperature and time was found to be $1030^{\circ}C$ and 30 min. respectively for the plates of 1 mm thickness. The argon atmosphere is very effective for the prevention of decarburization which can be easily occured in open air. There is a close relation between the degree of c 이 d working and the hardess. The greater the cold reduction ratio is, the smaller the grain size is and it results in the increase of hardness. The improvement of tensile and bending properties can be made by the addition of small amount of nickel, chromium and vanadium.

  • Purpose : This study evaluated clinical and radiographic results after open reduction and lag-screw fixation of mandibular condyle fractures. Patients and Methods : 26 patients had been treated by lag-screw fixation for madibular condyle fracures via submandibular approach and follow up for over 6 months. The lag-screw used in this study was designed by Eckelt. Results : Radiographically, resorption of the condyle head found in 4 cases (15%) and minimal displacement of the condyle head was found in 3 cases (12%). Post-operative infection were not found in all cases. Clinically, All patiens had a stable occlusion and normal mouth opening (over 40mm). TMD problems with crepitus or some discomfort encountered in 4 patients but tolerable to the patients. Conclusion : Lag screw fixation can be a good option especially high level condylar fractures, however this procedure must be used in cautiously because of slipping of the fragments and possible to resorption of the fragments.

Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose and Hyaluronic Acid on Prevention of Intra-abdominal Adhesion in Rats (Rat에서 Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose와 Hyaluronic acid의 복강 내 유착 예방)

  • This study has been conducted to compare the efficacy of sodium carboxymethylcellulose (SCMC) and hyaluronic acid (HA) on prevention of adhesion after artificial wound was induced in intestine. 1 % SCMC and 0.3% HA solution and saline solution were respectively administered to abdominal cavity. Each of the three groups consists of 11 rats. The abdominal cavity of each rat was coated with 2 ml of the allocated solution just after the abdomen was cut open, and it was coated with each solution of 1 ml before abrasion were caused on the cecum, the ascending colon and the transverse colon. Then, an additional 1 ml solution was injected before the abdomen was closed. On day 14 after the operation, each adhesion formation was evaluated at the score of 0-4. The HA group and SCMC group showed significantly lower adhesion scores than control group in all regions(P< 0.05). The adhesion scores of ascending colon, transverse colon and no abrasion region of the viscera showed little difference between HA group and SCMC group(P< 0.05), but the effect of adhesion reduction showed higher tendency in the HA group than the SCMC. The adhesion score of the cecum was significantly lower in HA group than SCMC group(P< 0.05). In conclusion, the SCMC solution and HA solution were effective on prevention of abdominal adhesion resulting from the celiotomy. Among of them, the HA solution could be more effective on prevention of adhesion than SCMC solution.

MR damping system for mitigating wind-rain induced vibration on Dongting Lake Cable-Stayed Bridge

  • The Dongting Lake Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge crossing the Dongting Lake where it meets the Yangtze River in southern central China. Several intensive wind-rain induced vibrations had been observed since its open to traffic in 1999. To investigate the possibility of using MR damping systems to reduce cable vibration, a series of field tests were conducted. Based on the promising research results, MR damping system was installed on the longest 156 stay cables of Dongting Lake Bridge in June 2002, making it the worlds first application of MR dampers on cable-stayed bridge to suppress the wind-rain induced cable vibration. As a visible and permanent aspect of the bridge, the MR damping system must be aesthetically pleasing, reliable, durable, easy to maintain, as well as effective in vibration mitigation. Substantial work was done to meet these requirements. This paper describes field tests and the implementation of MR damping systems for cable vibration reduction. Three-years reliable service of this system proves its durability.

Numerical Study on High-Speed railway Tunnel Entrance Hood (고속철도 터널 입구후드에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • High-speed railway trains entering and leaving tunnels generate finite amplitude pressure wave which propagate back and forth along the tunnels, reflecting at the open ends of the tunnels and at other discontinuities such as ventilation shafts and the train themselves. In present day railways, the magnitudes of the pressure waves are much too small to cause structual damage, but they are a serious potential source of aural discomport for passengers on unsealed trains. Almost always do the pressure waves propagating along the tunnels lead to a hazardous impulse noise near the exit portal of the tunnel. In order to alleviate such undesirable phenomena, some control strategies have been applied to the compression wave propagating inside the tunnel. The objective of the current work is to investigate the effect of tunnel entrance hoods on the entry compression wave at the vicinity of the tunnel entrance. Three types of entrance hoods were tested by the numerical method using the characteristics of method for a wide range of train speeds. The results show that the maximum pressure gradient of compression wave can be considerably reduced by the tunnel entrance hood. Desirable hood shape for reduction of the pressure transients and impulse noise was found to be of abrupt type hood with its cross-sectional area 2.5times the tunnel area.

A Design and Fabrication of Bandpass Filter using Miniaturized Square SIR (소형화된 구형 SIR을 이용한 대역통과필터 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, a four-pole quasi-elliptic function bandpass filter of 1.95GHz center frequency with 60 MHz bandwidth for IMT-2000 using miniaturized square SIR(Stepped Impedance Resonator) is designed and fabricated. The simulation of NUFDTD(Nonuniform Finite Difference Time Domain) is used to design the resonator and to calculate the coupling coefficient of three basic structures. The size reduction of miniaturized square SIR resonator is about more than 50% compare with a square open loop resonator. Bandpass filter using this resonator shows good microwave characteristic with the harmonic suppression of about 19dB. The results of measurements are almost similar to those of simulation.

  • Avulsion fracture of the calcaneal tuberosity is an uncommon injury. Usually it occurs from indirect trauma, and can be seen in old patients with osteoporosis or in patients with diabetic neuropathy. Follow-up studies showed healing of the fracture in most cases, but skeletal deformity may develop in some cases. Therefore we should take plain X-ray evaluations in diabetic patients with foot and ankle pain, even though there have been no definite trauma history. Four cases of calcaneus avulsion fracture were treated operatively in diabetic patients, and reported.
