실시간 분산처리 시뮬레이터 및 제어기 구조 설계 (Designing of real-time distributed simulator and controller architecture)

  • High performance digital computer technology enables the digital computer-based controllers to replace traditional analog controllers used for factory automations. This replacement, however, brings up the side effects caused by discrete quantization and non-real-time execution of control softwares. This paper describes the structure of real-time simulator and controller that can be used for design and verification of real-time digital controllers. The virtual machine concept adopted by real-time simulator make the proposed simulator be independent from the specific hardware platforms. The proposed system can also be used in the loosely coupled distributed environments connected through local area network using real-time message passing algorithm and virtual data table based on the shared memory mechanism.

Strategies for the Universities to be Locally Engaged while Globally Visible

  • Universities are now operating in a post-globalized world. They need to be locally engaged while globally visible for continued success. Specific strategies include 1) unbundling education using fractal modules approach to facilitate more flexible and customized learning expectations of net generation of students; 2) open-source software and hardware platforms to facilitate collaborations around a short or multi-year, multidisciplinary brain stretching projects motivated by the real world challenges; 3) new courses on innovation and entrepreneurship to nurture experience seeking and enterprising mindset of students; 4) cross-border university- public- private partnerships for developing solutions specific to the local needs and can be scalable for the world; and 5) encouraging faculty members with glocal mindset.

  • IoT should be considered security risk environments such as various platforms and services including smart devices that can be mounted on household electric appliances, healthcare, car, and heterogeneous networks that are connected to the Internet, cloud services and mobile Apps.. In this paper, we provide analysis of new security threats, caused by open-platform of IoT and sensors via the Internet. Also, we present the key recovery mechanism that is applied to IoT. It results to have compatibility with given research, reduces network overhead, and performs key recovery without depending on key escrow agencies or authorized party.

Distributed Multimedia Scheduling in the Cloud

  • Multimedia services in the cloud have become a popular trend in the big data environment. However, how to efficiently schedule a large number of multimedia services in the cloud is still an open and challengeable problem. Current cloud-based scheduling algorithms exist the following problems: 1) the content of the multimedia is ignored, and 2) the cloud platform is a known parameter, which makes current solutions are difficult to utilize practically. To resolve the above issues completely, in this work, we propose a novel distributed multimedia scheduling to satisfy the objectives: 1) Develop a general cloud-based multimedia scheduling model which is able to apply to different multimedia applications and service platforms; 2) Design a distributed scheduling algorithm in which each user makes a decision based on its local information without knowing the others' information; 3) The computational complexity of the proposed scheduling algorithm is low and it is asymptotically optimal in any case. Numerous simulations have demonstrated that the proposed scheduling can work well in all the cloud service environments.

리눅스 3D 그래픽 기술 동향 (Technical Trend of 3D Graphics for Linux Platforms)

  • X 서버는 개발된 지 20년 동안 그리 큰 변경이 이루어지지 않았다. 하지만, 그래픽 하드웨어는 사양은 3D 그래픽 고성능으로 변화되었다. X 서버는 2D 그래픽을 처리하기위한 그래픽 시스템으로 설계되었다. 3D 그래픽 처리를 위해서 OpenGL 라이브러리를X 서버와 연동하는 작업을 해왔지만 구조적으로 3D 그래픽 드로잉을 처리하는 것은 X서버이기 때문에 성능에 한계를 드러내게 되었다. 마이크로소프트사 DirectX 구조처럼직접 그래픽 하드웨어를 제어해서 3D 그래픽 처리를 구현하고 있으며 리눅스 진영은X 서버와 공존하면서 3D 그래픽 처리를 향상시키기 위한 연구를 진행하고 있다. 본 고에서는 리눅스 진영에서 현재 진행중인 향상된 3D 그래픽 처리에 대한 기술 동향을 설명한다.

  • 최근 사물인터넷 장치 증가와 관련 서비스의 급속한 확산, 기존의 수직적인 사물인터넷 서비스 구조로부터 수평적인 개방형 생태계로의 변화 추세에 따라 oneM2M, AllSeen, Open Interconnect Consortium(OIC)과 같은 표준협의체 및 산업체 컨소시엄을 중심으로 개방형 사물인터넷 플랫폼 규격 제정 및 오픈 소스 생태계 구축을 위한 노력이 지속되고 있다. 특히 다양한 사물인터넷 장치로부터 데이터를 수집하여 정보를 생성하고, 이종 장치 간의 정보 공유, 분산협업 및 실행제어 기술을 제공하는 사물인터넷 플랫폼은 사물인터넷 서비스 확산을 위한 핵심기술이라 할 수 있다. 본고에서는 오픈 생태계를 지향하는 AllSeen/AllJoyn, OIC/IoTivity, oneM2M 사물인터넷 소프트웨어 플랫폼의 표준화 동향을 살펴보고, 플랫폼의 핵심 기술에 대한 비교 분석을 통해 주요 기술개발 동향를 살펴보고자 한다.

ENTERPRISE WIDE CENTRALIZED APPLICATION LEVEL ACCESS CONTROL USING XACML

  • In traditional approach, enterprise-wide consistent security policy enforcement for applications is very difficult task. Therefore, industry is now moving towards new unified enterprise application security concept that consist of centralized authentication and authorization mechanism. The eXtensible Access Control Markup Language (XACML); an XML-based standard defined by OASIS, is most suitable choice which can support centralized, role based, context aware access control mechanism. It is designed to provide universal standard for writing authorization policies and access control request/response language for managing access to the resources. This paper includes a brief overview on XACML and discusses its benefits, limitations and a data flow process. We propose a new generic access control architecture that supports enterprise wide centralized application level access control mechanism using XACML. The other benefits which can be achieved through this architecture are, reduce adnministration cost and complexity, support of heterogeneous computing platforms, centralized monitoring system, automatic fail over, scalability and availability, open standard based solution and secure communication.

  • Recently, many changes have been made to people's life patterns as the technological advances in the ICT industry. The fusion of smart phones and various IT technologies has brought people convenience and welfare. A typical example of such fusion is the smart home. However, the existing smart home systems are difficult to be changed or extended. So we design a new smart home system with extensibility that can easily adopt legacy appliances and be scaled up. Among a variety of smart home features, this paper deals with IoT Devices that are responsible for controlling power or transmitting and receiving sensing values, IoT Gateway that connects users and consumer electronics via Internet, and Smart Home Manager that monitors and controls these components in the proposed smart home system.

한의학 연구자를 위한 시스템 생물학 학습 가이드 (Guide to Learning Systems Biology for Korean Medicine Researchers)

  • The emergence of systems biology in the 21st century is changing the paradigm of biomedical research. Whereas the reductionist approaches focus on components rather than time or contexts, systems biology focus more on interrelationships, dynamics, and contexts. The key ideas of the systems biology shares much with the philosophy of Korean Medicine(KM) and therefore, the paradigm shift is shedding light on understanding the mechanism of action of KM at system level. In this article, I provide a guide to learning systems biology for KM researchers using online learning resources. Thanks to the recent development of MOOC(massive open online courses) and other online learning platforms, learners can access to plenty of high-quality resources from top-tier universities in the world. I expect this guide help researchers to employ systems biology methods into their KM researches, and will lead to the development of future curricula for training "bi-lingual" experts, KM and computational approaches.

  • The Internet has made a huge impact on the way we, as humans, communicate. During the last decade a series of new communication mediums have emerged and communication protocols have come and gone. This puts new requirements on the development process and architecture of the communication platforms, operated by communities, in order to proactively ensure support for future communication protocols. Even further, additional requirements are added when the software itself will be maintained by a community. In this paper we explore the world of Open Source Software. We present our suggestions of usable design-principles and our process in developing a sustainable information system.
