A Study on Flow Control of Open Cavity with Inclined Rear Walls (경사벽면을 갖는 개방 캐비티의 유동제어에 관한 연구)

  • This experimental study is about the flow characteristics according to existence and nonexistence of the control rod and location in the flow field where it has the Inclined rear walls in the open cavity. By using the visualization of flow and particle image velocimetry (PIV), we performed about a change and speed of the Reynolds number. Our objective was what part of the control rod gives less effects to the characteristics of flow and how the shear mixing layer moves at what critical point of the Reynolds number. As a result, we differed the location of control rod. So finally, L/H=0.2 was discovered to give less effects to the cavity. The flow of backside of vortex faces the upper side. And we found that this phenomenon shows up more clear when the number of Reynolds increases. This is because of the flow of vortex causes by the condition of y/H=1.0. This phenomenon gets more clear with increasing of number of Reynolds, and critical point of the Reynolds number was $Re=1.0{\times}10^4$ around. If control rod is L/H=0.1, depending on the number of Reynolds ($Re=6.0{\times}10^3$, $Re=8.0{\times}10^3$, $Re=1.0{\times}10^4$, $Re=1.2{\times}10^4$), doubled vortex shows up. As the shear mixing layer of the upper side of cavity increases, the speed of the lower side was very stable.

  • In this paper, the novel microwave oscillator incorporating a planar cavity resonator(PCR) is presented to reduce the phase noise of the oscillator in a planar environment. Compared to the conventional planar( $\lambda$/4 open stub resonator), the phase noise is improved about 16 dBc/Hz @100 kHz. The design of the oscillator is based on a reflection type configuration using the low 1/f SiGe HBT transistor(LPT16ED). The output power is measured 2.76 dBm at 12.5 GHz. In this paper, the oscillator used to the PCR can be expected to provide a solution for low phase noise oscillator in microwave circuits.

  • When fluid at high speed flows over an open cavity, large acoustic pressure fields inside the cavity are produced by fluid/structure interactions at the downstream end of the cavity. The inter-coach spacing is one of the most important sources of the aero-acoustic noise of a high-speed train. This noise can usually be heard as low frequency structure-borne noise inside the train. In this study experiments were performed in order to investigate the effects of mud-flap length on the aeroacoustic noise generation inside high-speed trains. Results of the measurement confirmed that the characteristics of the noise generated from the inter-coach spacing are strongly dependent on the size of the gap. Also investigated are the characteristics of the turbulent flow after the inter-coach spacing and consequent generation of the aeroacoustic noise inside the cabin.

  • The inter-coach spacing is one of the most important sources of the aero-acoustic noise of a high-speed train.   • In this study, we present experimental results of cavitating flow around a vortex generator which is used to improve the flow in the wake of ships and enhance propulsion efficiency. We conducted experiments at the CNU cavitation tunnel on a total of six vortex generators, two different aspect ratios and three taper ratios. We recorded cavity patterns using a high-speed camera and quantitatively evaluated cavity fraction using OpenCV. The most important finding of this study is that the vortex cavity generated at a root leading edge of the vortex generator develops at a specific angle.

  • To achieve efficient supersonic combustion within a manageable length, a successful fuel injection scheme must provide rapid mixing between fuel and airstream. In former days, various injection concepts have been investigated. Cavity flow is the open type, that is, length-to-depth ratio L/D=4.8, aft ramp angle is $22.5^{\circ}$. An experimental study on a transverse cross jet injection into a Mach 1.92 supersonic main stream which flows over a cavity was carried out to investigate the effect of the momentum flux ratio(J), the jet interaction characteristics, and the pressure distribution in the combustor and using the primary diagnostics : schlieren visualization and wall static pressure measurements. Fuel penetration height and jet interaction characteristics depend strongly on the momentum flux ratio.

Accurate Measurements of the Unloaded Q of a Dielectric-loaded High-Q $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode Cavity Resonator with HTS Endplates

  • Methods for mode identification and accurate measurements of the unloaded Q ($Q_0$) of a dielectric-loaded $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode cavity resonator with HTS endplates are proposed. A resonator with a sapphire rod and $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$(YBCO) endplates was prepared and its microwave properties were studied at temperatures above 30 K. The $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode $Q_0$ of the resonator, designed to work as a tunable resonator with variations in the gap distance (s) between the sapphire rod and the top YBCO, was more than 1000000 at s = 0 mm and at 30 K with the resonant frequency of 19.56 GHz. The $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode $Q_0$ decreases as s increases for s < 2 mm until mode couplings between the $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode and other modes appeared at s = 2 mm. Significant dependence of the $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode $Q_0$ on the input and output coupling constants was also observed. Applications of the open-ended $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode cavity resonator for a tunable resonator with a very high Q as well as a characterization tool for the surface resistance measurements of HTS films are described.

Experimental Study on Fuel/Air Mixing using Inclined Injection in Supersonic Flow (경사 분사에 의한 초음속 유동 연료-공기 혼합에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The flow of combustor in scramjet engine has supersonic speed so that the residence time and mixing ratio are very important factors for the efficient combustion. This study used open cavity(L/D=4.8) as a fuel/air mixing model. Laser schlieren visualization and pressure measurement were carried out to observe the flow characteristics around a jet orifice and a cavity at the time of fuel injection. As a result of 10ns laser schlieren, unsteady flow which was around the cavity could be observed effectively. Pressure was measured that momentum flux ratio(J) was changed. And the change of critical ignition point could be observed by the momentum flux ratio changed.

Traditional and minimally invasive access cavities in endodontics: a literature review

  • The aim of this review was to evaluate the effects of different access cavity designs on endodontic treatment and tooth prognosis. Two independent reviewers conducted an unrestricted search of the relevant literature contained in the following electronic databases: PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, Web of Science, and OpenGrey. The electronic search was supplemented by a manual search during the same time period. The reference lists of the articles that advanced to second-round screening were hand-searched to identify additional potential articles. Experts were also contacted in an effort to learn about possible unpublished or ongoing studies. The benefits of minimally invasive access (MIA) cavities are not yet fully supported by research data. There is no evidence that this approach can replace the traditional approach of straight-line access cavities. Guided endodontics is a new method for teeth with pulp canal calcification and apical infection, but there have been no cost-benefit investigations or time studies to verify these personal opinions. Although the purpose of MIA cavities is to reflect clinicians' interest in retaining a greater amount of the dental substance, traditional cavities are the safer method for effective instrument operation and the prevention of iatrogenic complications.

  • To evaluate the potential of the stem cell therapy as a method for prenatal management of spinal open neural tube defect (ONTD), the influence of embryonic stem cells injected into the amniotic cavity on the re-closure capacity of spinal ONTD was investgated. Spinal neural tube was incised open for a length of 6 somites using chick embryos of Hamburger and Hamilton stage 18 or 19. (omitted)
