OSGi based Service Middleware for Context-Aware Applications (상황 인식 응용을 위한 OSGi 기반 서비스 미들웨어)

  • To support context-aware services in ubiquitous computing environments, there are required dynamic context managing, context reasoning and context modeling technologies. In previous researches, context services are designed using context ontology used in context aware middleware. So, context service cannot change the context ontology in execution time. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical ontology-based context management model and design a context-aware middleware based on this model for supporting active application adaptability and reflecting users' requirements dynamically in contextual changes. It also provides efficient support for inferencing, interpreting, acquiring and discovering various contexts to build context-aware services and presents a resolution method for context conflict which is occurred in execution of service. As the middleware is implemented on the OSGi framework, it can cause interoperability among devices such as computers, PDAs, home appliances and sensors. It can also support the development and operation of context aware services, which are required in the ubiquitous computing environment.

  • It is very important to understand system behaviors in collective pattern for each knowledge domain. However, there are structural limitations to represent collective behaviors because of the size of system components and the complexity of their interactions, causing the state explosion problem. Further composition with other systems is mostly impractical because of exponential growth of their size and complexity. This paper presents a practical method to model the collective behaviors, based on a new concept of domain engineering: behavior ontology. Firstly, the ontology defines each collective behavior of a system from active ontology. Secondly, the behaviors are formed in a quantifiably abstract lattice, called common regular expression. Thirdly, a lattice can be composed with other lattices based on quantifiably common elements. The method can be one of the most innovative approaches in representing system behaviors in collective pattern, as well as in minimization of system states to reduce system complexity. For implementation, a prototype tool, called PRISM, has been developed on ADOxx Meta-Modelling Platform.

  • This paper proposes a design and realization for the semantic search system. The proposed model includes three Architecture Layers of a Semantic Search System ; (they are conceptually named as) the Knowledge Acquisition, the Knowledge Representation and the Knowledge Utilization. Each of these three Layers are designed to interactively work together, so as to maximize the users' information needs. The Knowledge Acquisition Layer includes index and storage of Semantic Metadata from various source of web contents(eg : text, image, multimedia and so on). The Knowledge Representation Layer includes the ontology schema and instance, through the process of semantic search by ontology based query expansion. Finally, the Knowledge Utilization Layer includes the users to search query intuitively, and get its results without the users'knowledge of semantic web language or ontology. So far as the design and the realization of the semantic search site is concerned, the proposedsemantic search system will offer useful implications to the researchers and practitioners so as to improve the research level to the commercial use.

  • The semantic information provided through the semantic-based IoT system will produce new high value-added products that are completely different from what we have known and experienced. From this point of view, the key issue of current IoT technology and applications is the development of an intelligent IoT platform architecture. The proposed system collects the IoT data of the sensors from the cloud computer, converts them into RDF, and annotates them with semantics. The converted semantic data is shared and utilized through the ontology repository. We use KT's IoTMakers as a cloud computing environment, and the ontology repository uses Jena's Fuseki server to express SPARQL query results on the web using Daum Map API and Highcharts API. This gives people the opportunity to access the semantic IoT mash-up service easily and has various application possibilities.

  • We extract the symptom of panic disorder from the context awareness environment. It extracts body context information through natural movement that exists in everyday life and uses a component of panic disorder. The ontology theory can be used to provide information on the degree of symptoms of panic disorder through inference process. For the components of panic disorder to the information processing based on ontology are defined as Classes. Panic disorder index is expressed through ontology modeling so that the condition of panic disorder can be known. The derivation of panic disorder component and panic disorder index will enable context awareness based information service for panic disorder. The context information is periodically synchronized with the context awareness on based device. Panic disorder can be used to improve the lifestyle of panic disorder.

  • Recently personal media were produced in a variety of ways as a lot of smart devices have been spread and services using these data have been desired. Therefore, research has been actively conducted for the media analysis and recognition technology and we can recognize the meaningful object from the media. The system using the media ontology has the disadvantage that can't classify the media appearing in the video because of the use of a video title, tags, and script information. In this paper, we propose a system to automatically classify video using the objects shown in the media data. To do this, we use a description logic-based reasoning and a rule-based inference for event processing which may vary in order. Description logic-based reasoning system proposed in this paper represents the relation of the objects in the media as activity ontology. We describe how to another rule-based reasoning system defines an event according to the order of the inference activity and order based reasoning system automatically classify the appropriate event to the category. To evaluate the efficiency of the proposed approach, we conducted an experiment using the media data classified as a valid category by the analysis of the Youtube video.

  • In the Product Line Engineering (PLE), current studies about an analysis of the feature have uncertain and ad-hoc criteria of analysis based on developer’s intuition or domain expert’s heuristic approach and difficulty to extract explicit features from a product in a product line because the stakeholders lack comprehensive understanding of the features in feature modeling. Therefore, this paper proposes a model of the analyzing commonality and variability of the feature based on the Ontology. The proposed model in this paper suggests two approaches in order to solve the problems mentioned above: First, the model explicitly expresses the feature by making an individual feature attribute list based on the meta feature modeling to understand common feature. Second, the model projects an analysis model of commonality and variability using the semantic similarity between features based on the Ontology to the stakeholders. The main contribution of this paper is to improve the reusability of distinguished features on developing products of same line henceforth.

  • 온톨로지는 에이전트가 지식 레벨 메시지 교환을 위해 사용하는 용어를 정의하는데 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 객체지향 모델링 중 특히 UML은 소프트웨어 공학 분야에서 많은 발전이 이루어져 왔으며, 대부분의 상업용 도구들에 의해 지원될 수 있다. 따라서, 에이전트 시스템에서 온톨로지 표현을 위해 UML을 사용한다면 에이전트 기반 시스템 개념의 이해를 돕는데 매우 효과적일 것이다. 본 연구는 온톨로지 모델링을 위해 UML 사용의 가능성을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 유비쿼터스 지능공간은 개인이 원하는 서비스를 능동적이며 효율적으로 제공하는 공간이다. 그러한 환경을 제공하기 위해서 올바른 온톨로지의 모델링과 적절한 추론이 필요하다. 온톨로지 모델링의 어려움을 생각하며 그 방법을 모색한다. 또한 온톨로지 추론 엔진 중 RacerPro와 JESS의 특징을 이용하여 온톨로지의 보다 효율적인 활용방안을 찾는다.
