  • With the increasing demand for interoperability among existing learning resource systems in order to enable the sharing of learning resources, such resources need to be annotated with ontologies that use different metadata standards. These different ontologies must be reconciled through ontology mediation, so as to cope with information heterogeneity problems, such as semantic and structural conflicts. In this paper, we propose an ontology-mapping technique using Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL) to generate semantic mapping rules that integrate learning resources from different systems and that cope with semantic and structural conflicts. Reasoning rules are defined to support a semantic search for heterogeneous learning resources, which are deduced by rule-based inference. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach enables the integration of learning resources originating from multiple sources and helps users to search across heterogeneous learning resource systems.

  • Semantic Structuralization of data, not Semantic Web base on Ontology but software engineering on many points, can be applied to trace of state or requirements usefully. But it is required much effort that a man converts RDB(Relational DataBase) into Ontology. Hence this study propose rules to convert RDB into Ontology description language OWL automatically.

  • These days, companies have to process enormous information and knowledge to satisfy desire of customers. The mere storage of them is no longer a significant problem because of the immense progress information technology has made during the past years and decades. It is important to deliver the right piece of information to the right person at the right time. Consequently, Knowledge management which supports the exchange of relevant information within company organization structure is of special interest for current enterprises. To solve this problem, a concept of the Knowledge management system is introduced in this paper based on the ontology technology. An ontology can describe all relevant information about documents, products, organizational structures or the users, their interests and experiences and be understood by everybody.

  • As the complexity of engineering design environment has been increased, it becomes difficult to exchange design data among design support systems. The purpose of this paper is to develop the XML-based Generalized Mechanical Data Exchange Formats(GMDEF) independent of specific mechanical element and to improve the interoperability of them using ontology, in order to integrate diverse design data and facilitate communication between design support systems. GMDEF consists of PartDoc and AssemblyDoc. PartDoc represents the information of a single part. AssemblyDoc represents the relation of parts composing an assembly. GMDEF is validated by GMDEF Schema. GMDEF Schema consists of separated XML Schemas and has flexible architecture to facilitate extension. The ontology is applied to GMDEF Schema to share and reuse vocabularies of specific mechanical elements.

  • Increasing product variety based on product family and product platform provides a company with a competitive advantage over its competitors. As products become more complex, short-life cycled and customized, the design efforts require more knowledge-intensive, collaborative and coordinating efforts for information sharing. By sharing knowledge, information, component and process across different families of products, the product realization process will be more efficient, cost-effective and quick-responsive. Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) is used for analyzing data and forming semantic structures that are formal abstractions of concepts of human thoughts. A Web Ontology Language (OWL) is designed for applications that need to process the content of information instead of simply presenting information to humans. OWL also captures the evolution of different components of the product family. The purpose of this paper is to develop product variety modeling to increase the usefulness of common platform. In constructing and analyzing product ontology, FCA is adopted for conceptual knowledge processing. For the selected product family, product variety Ontology is constructed and implemented using prot$\'{e}$g$\'{e}$-2000.

  • Community enterprise plays an important role for developing local business. Products from local communities apply local specialties such as high-quality materials and inherited wisdom. This work aims to support merchandises from local community enterprises by bringing out their specialties related to local wisdom and intangible cultural aspects. An ontology is applied to demonstrate the innate information regarding the implicit values of the products and is used as a core for a semantic search system. Details of the products are gathered from their respective community using an interview method and are extracted to align with the developed ontological schema. The semantic search system thus is implemented with a recommendation process for online accessibility for providing the organised information. From evaluation, the developed ontology and its instances are rated highly for their consistency, conciseness, and completeness. In usage, accuracy of the query and recommendation results are evaluated at 97.38% searching accuracy and 85.03% for recommending interesting products.

  • When a mail was given to users, each user's response could be different according to his or her preference. This paper presents a solution for this situation by constructing a user preferred ontology for anti-spam systems. To define an ontology for describing user behaviors, we applied associative classification mining to study preference information of users and their responses to emails. Generated classification rules can be represented in a formal ontology language. A user preferred ontology can explain why mail is decided to be spam or ron-spam in a meaningful way. We also suggest a new rule optimization procedure inspired from logic synthesis to improve comprehensibility and exclude redundant rules.

  • As the increasing of users' request about internet web service, the importance of ontology to construct semantic web is increasing now. Early Internet data processing was studied in the form of data integration through centralized ontology construction. However, because of distributed environment of internet, when integrating data of distributed site, it is required to integrate data of each site in terms of peer-to-peer data processing for corresponding to fast change of internet. In this paper, in distributed environment, we propose data processing method which construct ontology in each site with ontology language OWL. Furthermore, through relational representation of OWL, we propose the system containing distributed query processing for data constructed in different site with different method.

  • In this study, the experiment was made to transform the relationship among terms in a thesaurus to ontology language as search tools for multilingual text. As a result, the equivalent relationship in the thesaurus can be expressed by different ways in the ontology, such as equivalentClass, equivalentProperty, sameAS, and so on. On the other hand, the associative relationship can be represented by ObjectProperty, DatatypeProperty, and inverseOf. For this test, first of all, the descriptors assigned by AAT and the descriptors from bilingual thesaurus by ICCD were translated into Korean. Then, the facet was used for conceptual equivalence among terms from different languages. The result of the study showed that using rdf:Property in ontology was the most effective way of transforming multilingual thesaurus into ontology.
