  • Functionally graded material (FGM) plates can be bonded to the soffit of a beam as a means of retrofitting the RC beam. In such plated beams, tensile forces develop in the bonded plate and these have to be transferred to the original beam via interfacial shear and normal stresses. In this paper, an interfacial stress analysis is presented for simply supported concrete beam bonded with a functionally graded material FGM plate. This new solution is intended for application to beams made of all kinds of materials bonded with a thin plate, while all existing solutions have been developed focusing on the strengthening of reinforced concrete beams, which allowed the omission of certain terms. It is shown that both the normal and shear stresses at the interface are influenced by the material and geometry parameters of the composite beam. This research is helpful for the understanding on mechanical behavior of the interface and design of the FGM-RC hybrid structures.

  • In this paper, acoustic omission technique(AE) has been applied to detect leak for heat exchanger by analyzing the characteristics of signal obtained from leak. It was confirmed that the characteristics of the signal generated by the turbulence of gas in the heat exchanger is narrow band signal having between 130-250KHz. Generally, the amplitude of leak signal is increased as the leak size increasing, but showed no significant change at frequency characteristic. Leak source location can be found by searching for the point of highest signal amplitude by comparing wi th several fired sensors.

  • Twenty one strains of Rhodopseudomonas palustris from 7 different regions in Korea have been isolated and identified on the basis of Bergey's Manual in order to study their regional variation. They can use fructose as carbon source (or hydrogen donor). Capacity to produce molecular hydrogen during photosynthesis was tested using liquid medium, modified by omission of $NH_4Cl$ and addition of L0glutamic acid. As nitrogen source nitrate can be used, and isopropanol can be used as hydrogen donor. their pH ranges are 5.9 - 9.1. Their growth are inhibited in the medium that contains 100 units of penicillin G/ml. as for the growing test in dark aerobic condition, the period needed for adptation is longer than that of Korea strain of Rhodopseudomonas gelatinosa.

  • We report on optically excited terahertz (THz) omission from low-temperature (LT) grown GaAs. We have used 70 fs titanium-sapphire laser pulses with wavelengths at 800 nm to generate THz radiation pulses. The LT-GaAs layers are grown on semi-insulating GaAs substrates with GaAs buffer layer by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). The THz emission from the LT-GaAs surface is strong and does not show any significant variation in the strength of the THz emission over several different angles between the polarization of the excitation laser pulse and the crystallographic orientation of the LT-GaAs.

  • Ellipsis is the figure of speech characterized by the deliberate omission of words that are obviously understood, but that must be supplied to make a construction grammatically or semantically complete. The purpose of this study is to examine how ellipsis affects its adjacent elements acoustically and phonologically in English VP-ellipsis, sluicing and gapping. In the experiment, the realizations by English native speakers are set as the criteria for the observing point and are compared to Korean speakers' realizations. For the results, while English native speakers utilized various acoustic information such as word duration and pitch range and phonological information such as pith accent realization in order to intend the cues for decoding the missing constituent, Korean English learners relied on only duration information and could not use various information effectively.

  • FTA(Fault Tree Analysis) is a safety analysis method that focuses on one particular accident or main system failure and provides a method of determining causes of that event. While most of the statistical and cut set analysis have been automated, actual construction of the fault-tree is usually done manually. Manual construction of the fault-tree is extremely time consuming and it requires high level of expertise and experience. In addition to the time involved, different analyst often produces different fault-trees either by incorrect logic or omission of certain events. Automatic fault-tree construction system can be efficient in solving above problems. This study presents a new Digraph-FT conversion algorithm that leads automatic FTA system.

  • This paper purposed that verify the validity of Petri Net method for control progressive increase of system complexity, before extend the realized single robot system to multi-robot system. An autonomous mobile robot(AMR) needs decision making, motion control, path planning, tracking a path, obstacle avoidance, and sensor fusion, to complete its task. An AMR integrates and operates these technics through a consistent command system. An error in a command hierarchy which is like duplication or omission of a control command hierarchy for each module results in serious problems. This paper minimizes the error by modeling each module and whole system using Petri Net graphical representation and applies it to the exploration task of an AMR

  • Research during the past several years has established the effectiveness of acoustic emission (AE)-based sensing methodologies for machine condition analysis and process. AE has been proposed and evaluated for a variety of sensing tasks as well as for use as a technique for quantitative studies of manufacturing process. STD11 has been known as difficult-to-cut materials. For this study, the micro-grooving machine was developed. The experiments were performed using diamond blade and CBN blade f3r machining STD11. Evaluating the machining conditions, frequency spectrum analysis of acoustic emission (AE) signals according to each conditions were applied.

  • We analyze the changes of the Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI) over Korea to assess the regional climate change associated with global warming. For the regional-scale analysis, we used the MM5 simulation in 27 km horizontal resolution for the period of 1971-2100, which is driven by ECHAM4/HOPE-G under the greenhouse gas omission scenario. The downscaled climate variables capture improved regional features consistent with the observation. Based on the simulation, we investigated the temporal and spatial distributions of PDSI over Korea. The area-averaged PDSI is expected to decrease in global warming. Considering the horizontal distribution of climate change, the negative peak values of PDSI anomalies appear in the southern part of Korea.
