Influence of Penetration Rate on Piezocone Penetration Test (변형율 속도가 콘관입시험에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 연구에서는 콘관입속도가 콘관입시험 결과에 미치는 영향을 연구하기 위하여 LSU/CALCHAS(Louisiana State University Calibration Chamber System)를 이용한 미니 Piezocone의 관입시험이 수행되었으며 그 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 10회의 미니 Piezocone 관입시험이 Ko 조건에서 수행되었으며 33% kaolin, 67% sand mixture가 시료로 사용되었고, 콘관입속도 0.3, 0.6cm/sec, U1(filter element at the cone tip), U2(filter element above the cone base), OCR=1, 10 의 조건이 다양하게 적용되었다. 시험결과 Cone Resistance, Excess Pore Water Pressure, Sleeve Friction 은 U1, U2 두 종류의 콘에 대해서 모두 관입속도가 커짐에 따라 증가하였으나 OCR의 증가에 따라서는 감소하였으며 U1의 Excess Pore Water Pressure가 U2 경우보다 크게 측정되었다.

A Keyword Matching for the Retrieval of Low-Quality Hangul Document Images

  • It is a difficult problem to use keyword retrieval for low-quality Korean document images because these include adjacent characters that are connected. In addition, images that are created from various fonts are likely to be distorted during acquisition. In this paper, we propose and test a keyword retrieval system, using a support vector machine (SVM) for the retrieval of low-quality Korean document images. We propose a keyword retrieval method using an SVM to discriminate the similarity between two word images. We demonstrated that the proposed keyword retrieval method is more effective than the accumulated Optical Character Recognition (OCR)-based searching method. Moreover, using the SVM is better than Bayesian decision or artificial neural network for determining the similarity of two images.

  • Characteristics of an autothermal reformer at various operating parameters have been studied in this paper. Numerical method has been used, and simulation model has been developed for the analysis. Full Combustion reaction, Steam Reforming(SR) reaction, Water-Gas Shift(WGS) reaction, and Direct Steam Reforming(DSR) reaction are assumed as dominant chemical reactions in the autothermal reformer. Simulation results are compared with experimental results for code validation. Operating parameters of the autothermal reformer are inlet temperature, Oxygen to Carbon Ratio(OCR), Steam to Carbon Ratio(SCR), and Gas Hourly Space Veolcity(GHSV). SR reaction rate decreases with low inlet temperature. If OCR is increased, $H_2$ yield is increased but optimal point is suggested. WGS reaction is activated with high SCR. When GHSV is increased, reforming efficiency is increased but pressure drop may decrease the system efficiency.

  • 최근 모바일기기에 유비쿼터스 콘텐츠를 구현하는 시도가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 핸드폰을 이용해 위치를 판단한다거나, 핫코드를 찍어 상품을 구매하는 등의 콘텐츠가 개발되었다. 또한, 모바일기기도 발전하여 핸드폰, PDA 같은 모바일기기의 내장 카메라모듈은 필수사항이 되었다. 본 연구는 모바일기기의 내장 카메라모듈을 이용한 모바일 환경에 적합한 한글 문자인식 시스템을 제안한다. 본 연구의 시스템은 모바일기기로 PDA를 사용하였으며, PDA의 카메라모듈을 통하여 인쇄체 한글 영상을 입력받고, 모바일기기의 느린 연산속도를 보완하기 위하여, 서버로 이미지와 기울기 정보를 전달한 후, 서버에서 기울어진 인쇄체 문자영상을 보정하고, 프로젝션을 통해 문자를 추출한 후, 차연산을 이용한 매칭 방법으로 인쇄체 한글을 인식한다. 인식한 문자들은 사용자의 수정을 거쳐 텍스트 문서로 저장할 수 있다.

Tempo of Diversification of Global Amphibians: One-Constant Rate, One-Continuous Shift or Multiple-Discrete Shifts?

  • In this brief report, alternative time-varying diversification rate models were fitted onto the phylogeny of global amphibians by considering one-constant-rate (OCR), one-continuous-shift (OCS) and multiple-discrete- shifts (MDS) situations. The OCS diversification model was rejected by ${\gamma}$ statistic (${\gamma}=-5.556$, p<0.001), implying the existence of shifting diversification rates for global amphibian phylogeny. Through model selection, MDS diversification model outperformed OCS and OCR models using "laser" package under R environment. Moreover, MDS models, implemented using another R package "MEDUSA", indicated that there were sixteen shifts over the internal nodes for amphibian phylogeny. Conclusively, both OCS and MDS models are recommended to compare so as to better quantify rate-shifting trends of species diversification. MDS diversification models should be preferential for large phylogenies using "MEDUSA" package in which any arbitrary numbers of shifts are allowed to model.

  • The binary image normalization method in image processing can be used in several fields, Especially, its high speed processing method and its hardware implmentation is more useful, A normalization process of each character in character recognition requires a lot of processing time. Therefore, the research was done as a part of high speed process of OCR (optical character reader) implementation as a pipeline structure with host computer in hardware to give temporal parallism. For normalization process, general purpose CPU,MC68000, was used to implement it. As a result of experiment, the normalization speed of the hardware is sufficient to implement high speed OCR which the recognition speed is over 140 characters per second.

  • This paper introduce a technique for Word segmentation for the handwritten recognition of Urdu script. Word segmentation or word tokenization is a primary technique for understanding the sentences written in Urdu language. Several techniques are available for word segmentation in other languages but not much work has been done for word segmentation of Urdu Optical Character Recognition (OCR) System. A method is proposed for word segmentation in this paper. It finds the boundaries of words in a sequence of ligatures using probabilistic formulas, by utilizing the knowledge of collocation of ligatures and words in the corpus. The word identification rate using this technique is 97.10% with 66.63% unknown words identification rate.

  • In this paper, the communication between Over-Current Relay agents is realized using DNP(Distributed Network Protocol), which is the standard communication protocol of distribution automation system in KEPKO. The key words in OCR agent communication are defined and represented by use of DNP application function code. And the DNP index for OCR agent is defined. The proposed communication scheme is tested by use of Communication Test Harness, a test tool for DNP protocol to show its soundness.
