  • The purpose of this study was to identify observation methods, observation targets and their changes in elementary school students' observing aquariums. Silurus microdorsalis, Orthrias nudus, Iksookimia rotundicaudata and Semisulcospira bensoni in two aquariums were observed for 40 minutes in every week during 10 weeks by elementary children. Students' observation methods and targets were analyzed with their observation diary. Also the change of observation methods and targets on each species were analysed based on the observation diary. This study found the facts which was change of observation methods and observation targets according to observable theme of each species as time goes by. The results also found children's various methods and targets in observing living objects and observation methods were changed variously during 10 week-observation. The results of this study may provide more various and systematic norm and assessment criteria for teaching observation.

  • SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) is an imaging radar which can scan and image Earth System targets without solar illumination. Most Earth observation Shh systems operate in X-, C-, S-, L-, and P-band frequencies, where the shortest wavelength is approximately 1.5 cm. This means that most opaque objects in the SAR signal path become transparent and SAR systems can image the planetary surface targets without sunlight and through rain, snow and/or even volcanic ash clouds. Most conventional SAR systems in operation, including the Canada's RADARSAT-1, operate in one frequency and in one polarization. This has resulted in black and with images, with which we are familiar now. However, with the launching of ENVTSAT on March 1 2002, the ASAR system onboard the ENVISAT can image Earth's surface targets with selected polarimetric signals, HH+VV, HH+VH, and VV+HV. In 2004, Canadian Space Agency will launch RADARSAT-II, which is C-band, fully polarimetric HH+VV+VH+HV. Almost same time, the NASDA of Japan will launch ALOS (Advanced land Observation Satellite) which will carry L-band PALSAR system, which is again fully polarimetric. This means that we will have at least three fully polarimetric space-borne SAR system fur civilian operation in less than one year. Are we then ready for this new all weather Earth Observation technology\ulcorner Actual imaging process of a fully polarimetric SAR system is not easy to explain. But, most Earth system scientists, including geologists, are familiar with polarization microscopes and other polarization effects in nature. The spatial resolution of the new generation of SAR systems have also been steadily increased, almost to the limit of highest optical resolution. In this talk some new applications how they are used for Earth system observation purpose.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the processes of observation teaching and the types of observation in elementary life science class. For the purposes of this study, 40 teachers majoring in elementary science education participated in surveys on the processes of observation teaching. In addition, after videotaping the observation classes conducted by three teachers, each teaching in the 3rd to 5th grade, and their one hundred and eight students, we analyzed the processes of observation teaching. As a result, the processes of observation leaching in elementary science class were categorized into 12 stages (motivation, stating the objective, recognizing objects to observe, free and subjective observation, introducing ways to observe, observing by the simple way, introducing additional ways, observing by the manipulative way, making a note of observation, looking over the contents of observation, finding regularities, consolidation). In the types of observation, teachers and students performed mostly simple observing by the visual way. Teachers introduced time-independent/non-compared/whole observing; students concentrated on time-independent/non-compared/particular observing as targets. Thus, students carried out observing in the types of observation that teachers had presented. Consequently, the analysis about the processes of observation teaching can establish an effective teaching program for observing in scientific activities by reconstructing its observing target and suitable topic. The analysis about the types of observation can be applied to set up strategies for improving observation skills.

  • The Intensive Monitoring Survey of Nearby Galaxies (IMSNG) is a high cadence observation program monitoring nearby galaxies at < 50 Mpc with high probabilities of hosting supernovae (SNe). The current number of main IMSNG targets is 60, but with new wide-field facilities joining IMSNG, there is a possibility of increasing the likelihood of catching the early light curves of SNe among galaxies in the vicinity of the main targets. To test the feasibility of the expansion of the sample galaxies, we examine how much the probability of catching SNe increases by adjusting the field of view of the RASA36 telescope which is one of the IMSNG facilities with a large field of view of 6.25 deg2. We calculate supernova rates (SNRs) of galaxies within the FoV that contains main IMSNG galaxies from the stellar mass and star formation rate of the galaxies. Based on the SNRs of these galaxies, we find the best pointing of the telescope towards the highest SNR region. As a result, we present improved total SNR, with respect to the ordinary pointing on average where the IMSNG main target is placed at the center of FoV. The actual observation should be followed to test the effect of this strategy.

  • Target-tracking algorithm based on ad hoc camera sensor networks (ACSNs) utilizes the distributed observation capability of nodes to achieve accurate target tracking. A compressed sensing-based multiple-target tracking algorithm (CSMTTA) for ACSNs is proposed in this work based on the study of camera node observation projection model and compressed sensing model. The proposed algorithm includes reconfiguration of observed signals and evaluation of target locations. It reconfigures observed signals by solving the convex optimization of L1-norm least and forecasts node group to evaluate a target location by the motion features of the target. Simulation results show that CSMTTA can recover the subtracted observation information accurately under the condition of sparse sampling to a high target-tracking accuracy and accomplish the distributed tracking task of multiple mobile targets.

  • This study is about an observation, namely, the starting point of a role creation with playing a bridge role regarding the work of the role at the work with oneself in the actor training program of the stanislavsky school called the bible about the reenactment acting which is the most basic study of the performance, and in the circumstance of theatrical circles of Korea, which relatively have a lack of the research as mentioned earlier, it described the necessity, usefulness and types of the observation as well as methods of a stepwise observation. First of all, actors should capture observing targets suitable for a role in the play, and if the targets were captured, he needs to imitate and then learn it by using his own body In addition, it must go through the process of an extended application by an adjustment, an amplification, and the application depending on the circumstances of the role after understanding the principle of physical behavior. Also, in order to overcome the simple duplication of outward appearance, making it his own should be conducted through the process of learning it by body and identification by attempting empathy, and for become not the process of the observations which can be partially and fragmentarily finished but the whole acts handling the whole play, it requires the actors to continuously make efforts to create the role, designed to be appropriate for the role while comprehensively arranging each behavior of fragmented figures.

  • We report the preliminary results of our GMVA(Global mm VLBI Array) observation at the frequency of 86 GHz. Observation were made in the dual polarization mode (LCP and RCP), to produce the polarimetric maps with the maximum angular resolution which the array is capable of. We aim to link the source-integrated AGN polarization properties with the polarized spatial source structure, by mapping the polarized "fine structure" of the target AGN. We selected 2 targets, 0954+658 and 0716+714, which (1) have been observed multiple times by the PdBI polarimetric monitoring program; (2) have sufficient integrated fluxes ($S_{90GHz}$ > 1 Jy) ; (3) are close enough to resolve the source structure < 1 pc with given angular resolution ; and (4) are located at high northern declination for good UV coverages. As preliminary results, we present LL and RR polarized images of each target with the maximum angular resolution of ${\sim}60{\mu}as$. Extended structures, probably the jet outflows, are discovered in both sources.
