  • In general, background subtraction based methods are used to detect the moving objects in visual tracking applications. In this paper we employed background subtraction based scheme to detect the temporarily stationary objects. We proposed two schemes for stationary object detection and we compare those in terms of detection performance and computational complexity. In the first approach we used single background and in the second approach we used dual backgrounds, generated with different learning rates, in order to detect temporarily stopped object. Finally, we used normalized cross correlation (NCC) based image comparison to monitor and track the detected stationary object in a video scene. The proposed method is robust with partial occlusion, short time fully occlusion and illumination changes, as well as it can operate in real time.

  • Graphical user interface(GUI) has a very important role to interact with software users. However, designing and coding of GUI are tedious and pain taking processes. In many studies, the researchers are trying to convert GUI elements or widgets to code or describe formally their structures by help of domain knowledge of stochastic methods. In this paper, we propose the GUI elements detection approach based on object detection strategy using deep neural networks(DNN). Object detection with DNN is the approach that integrates localization and classification techniques. From the experimental result, if we selected the appropriate object detection model, the results can be used for automatic code generation from the sketch or capture images. The successful GUI elements detection can describe the objects as hierarchical structures of elements and transform their information to appropriate code by object description translator that will be studied at future.

  • This paper presents a new approach to explicityly use surface normal images (SNIs) in 3-D object model description and recognition procedure. The surface normal images of an object are defined as the projected images obtained from view angles facing normal to each surface of the object. The proposed approach can significantly alleviate the difficulty of obtaining correspondence between models and scene objects by explicitly providing a transform for the matching. The proposed approach is applied to the construction of a model-based 3-D object recognition system for the selected five objects. Synthetic images are used in the experiment to show the operation of the overall recognition system.

  • Collision avoidance is a fundamental and important task of an autonomous mobile robot for safe navigation in real environments with high uncertainty. Obstacles are classified into static and dynamic obstacles. It is difficult to avoid dynamic obstacles because the positions of dynamic obstacles are likely to change at any time. This paper proposes a scheme for vision-based avoidance of dynamic obstacles. This approach extracts object candidates that can be considered moving objects based on the labeling algorithm using depth information. Then it detects moving objects among object candidates using motion vectors. In case the motion vectors are not extracted, it can still detect the moving objects stably through their color information. A robot avoids the dynamic obstacle using the dynamic window approach (DWA) with the object path estimated from the information of the detected obstacles. The DWA is a well known technique for reactive collision avoidance. This paper also proposes an algorithm which autonomously registers the obstacle color. Therefore, a robot can navigate more safely and efficiently with the proposed scheme.

  • Manufacturing systems are usually large, complex, and concurrent in nature that makes it difficult to model and simulate the behavior in advance. The paper proposes an approach, called OPNets, for modeling and validating manufacturing systems. The approach is based on object-oriented high-level Petri nets in which modeling components of Petri net are constructed into object hierarchy. The objects communicate with each other by passing messages. To enhance the reusability and maintainability, a system are developed by object hierarchy. Inheritance among object hierarchy is also supported in OPNets. The modeling scheme of OPNets tries to resolve the complexity problems of Petri net.

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach for tracking a moving object in moving image sequences using active contour models and optical flow. In our approach object segmentation is achieved by active contours, and object tracking is done by motion estimation based on optical flow. To get more dynamic characteristics, Lagrangian dynamics combined to the active contour models. For the optical flow computation, a method, which is based on Spatiotempo-ral Energy Models, is employed to perform robust tracking under poor environments. A prototype real tracking system has been developed and applied to a contents-based video retrieval systems.

  • This paper reports a novel object-detection technique in video sequences. The proposed algorithm consists of detection of objects in illuminated and occluded videos by using object features and a neural network technique. It consists of two functional modules: region-based object feature extraction and continuous detection of objects in video sequences with region features. This scheme is proposed as an enhancement of the Lowe's scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) object detection method. This technique solved the high computation time problem of feature generation in the SIFT method. The improvement is achieved by region-based feature classification in the objects to be detected; optimal neural network-based feature reduction is presented in order to reduce the object region feature dataset with winner pixel estimation between the video frames of the video sequence. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves better overall performance than other object detection techniques, and region-based feature detection is faster in comparison to other recent techniques.

  • In this paper, we present an object-based modeling and language for an object-oriented spatio-temporal database system. For handling the structure of spatio-temporal objects and the spatio-temporal operators, we propose the two layers of data modeling: a spatio-temporal object model (STOM) and an spatio_temporal internal description model (STIM). We then propose STOQL, a spatio-temporal object-oriented query language. STOQL provides an integrated mechanism for the graphical display of spatial objects and the retrieval of spatio-temporal and aspatial objects.

  • ebXML is the international technical framework specification that enables Internet-based B2B electronic business using XML, It was standardized by UN/CEFACT and OASIS on May 2001. Registry and Repository is the core of ebXML. It supports registry services which is composed of object management service and object query management service. The object management service manages the object's life cycle and the object query management service provides a mechanism to approach metadata of stored objects. Up to now, implementations of ebXML Registry object query management system don't support full functions of the specification completely. We implemented all the functions of ebXML Registry Service Specification vl.0. This system supports Browse & Drilldown Query, Filter Query, SQL Query, and Object Retrieval Query services. And it also supports Content-based Query service which is not specified in the ebXML RS specification. The Content-based Query service is a repository service which makes it possible In pose content based queries of repository items and which will be specified on the RS specification v2.0.

  • Computational speed plays key role in background subtraction and shadow detection, because those are only preprocessing steps of a moving object segmentation, tracking and activity recognition. A color intensity variation based approach fastly detect a moving object and extract shadow in a image sequences. The moving object is subtracted from background using meanmax, meanmin thresholds and shadow is detected by decrease limit and correspondence thresholds. The proposed approach relies on the ability to represent shadow cast impact by offline experiment dataset on sub grouped RGB color space.
