  • This paper presents a database approach to integrating the structural analysis and design processes for a typical shear wall apartment building design. Our initial efforts have focused on extracting various graphic information from CAD(AutoCAD™) systems. But now, we concentrate our research efforts on organizing specific information generated during the structural analysis and design processes. The proposed overall system consists of a conventional structural analysis package, a conventional CAD system, and different application interface programs. This system is based on an engineering database which is developed by using an object-oriented data modelling approach. The system is actually implemented on an ORACLE™-based relational database management system.

Spatiotemporal Grounding for a Language Based Cognitive System (언이기반의 인지시스템을 위한 시공간적 기초화)

  • For daily life interaction with human, robots need the capability of encoding and storing cognitive information and retrieving it contextually. In this paper, spatiotemporal grounding of cognitive information for a language based cognitive system is presented. The cognitive information of the event occurred at a robot is described with a sentence, stored in a memory, and retrieved contextually. Each sentence is parsed, discriminated with the functional type of it, and analyzed with argument structure for connecting to cognitive information. With the proposed grounding, the cognitive information is encoded to sentence form and stored in sentence memory with object descriptor. Sentences are retrieved for answering questions of human by searching temporal information from the sentence memory and doing spatial reasoning in schematic imagery. An experiment shows the feasibility and efficiency of the spatiotemporal grounding for advanced service robot.

Development of SEROPI as a wheel-based humanoid robot (바퀴기반 휴머노이드 로봇 SEROPI 개발)

  • Many researchers are studying on humanoid robots in all over the world. However the humanoid robots are still limited in doing works like picking up objects on the ground or moving rapidly. In this study, a humanoid robot based on the wheel-driving was developed. It can operate with a human working area keeping the stability. Also, the developed robot can take up the object on the floor since it has knee(1DoF) and waist(3DoF), and do service quickly and steadily. The hardware and software structure and algorithms of the developed robot, SEROPI are introduced in this paper.

  • 유클리디언(Euclidean)공간을 가정한 이동객체를 위한 색인구조 연구가 많이 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 LBS(Location Based System) 및 텔레매틱스 응용이 활발해짐에 따라, 이를 효과적으로 지원하기 위해서 도로 철도와 같은 공간 네트워크를 고려한 색인구조 연구가 요구된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 공간 네트워크상에서 이동객체를 효율적으로 색인할 수 있는 궤적기반 색인구조를 설계한다. 이를 위해 공간 데이터와 시간 데이터를 분리하여 색인하고, 실세계에서 공간네트워크상의 이동객체에 대한 질의를 시공간+궤적 질의, k-최근접 질의, 시간+궤적 질의로 분류하고, 이를 위한 질의 처리 알고리즘을 설계한다.

  • In this paper, a hierarchical spatio-temporal image segmentation method based on binary split algorithm is proposed. Intensity and displacement vector at each pixel are used for image segmentation. The displacement vectors between two image frames which skip over one or several frames can be approximated by accumulating of the velocity vectors calculated from optical flow between two successive frames when the time interval between the two image frames is short enough or the motion is slow. The pixels whose displacement vector and intensity are ambiguous are precisely decided by the modified watershed algorithm using the proposed priority measure. In the experiment, the region of moving object is precisely segmented.

  • As the application area of XML extends to the database from simple contents, the technology for the storage and management of XML also grows with the XML. One of the main issues is how to efficiently manage the XML by using the previous DBMS. Many studies have been performed for the efficient management based on the XML application and database interface. However, the XML data is based on the object and has the hierarchical structure. Accorkingly, a modeling plan needs to store the XML data on the variety type of database. In this paper, for easier connection between XML application and database system, we have designed components for the transformation from XML DTD to ORDB schema. The method of the design for the transformation from XML DTD to ORDB schema is chosen the method of CBD.

CSG-based Representation for Free-form Heterogeneous Object Modeling (임의 형상의 복합재 모델링을 위한 CSG 기반 표현)

  • This paper proposes a CSG-based representation scheme for heterogeneous objects including multi-material objects and Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs). In particular, this scheme focuses on the construction of complicated heterogeneous objects guaranteeing desired material continuities at all the interfaces. In order to create various types of heterogeneous primitives, we first describe methods for specifying material composition functions such as geometry-independent, geometry-dependent functions. Constructive Material Composition (CMC) and corresponding heterogeneous Boolean Operators (e.g. material union, difference, intersection. and partition) are then proposed to illustrate how material continuities are dealt with. Finally, we describe the model hierarchy and data structure for computer representation. Even though the proposed scheme alone is sufficient for modeling all sorts of heterogeneous objects, the proposed scheme adopts a hybrid representation between CSG and decomposition. That is because hybrid representation can avoid the unnecessary growth of binary trees.

  • In this paper, we design and implement a XML management system based on OODBMS that supports structured information retrieval of XML documents. We also propose an object oriented modeling to store and fetch XML documents, to manage image data, and to support versioning for the XML document management system(XMS). The XMS consists of a repository manager that maintains the interfaces for external application programs, a XML instance storage manager that stores XML documents in the database, a XML instance manager that fetches XML documents stored in the database, a XML index manager that creates index for the structure information and the contents of documents, and a query processor that processes various queries.

  • This study was to review the possible characteristics and patterns that occur when comparing control language constructing guidelines, by analyzing the formal characteristics of folksonomy tags in university libraries. Based on subjected tags at university libraries for a period of 6 months the structure and form of folksonomy was examined. The object tags were analyzed based on the thesaurus development guidelines. The results for this research will provide baseline data for the use of folksonomy tag applications in digital libraries.

  • In this study, we will analyze the design, development and application of these small drones using open source. These drones are used in flight exercises, aerial photography, and coding education. In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, such as the development of sensor technology, expansion of open source sharing, and application of artificial intelligence, Is expected to be able to demonstrate convergence. In this paper, we have studied the design and fabrication of small drones using open source. In the case of drones, various functions and differentiated materials are required depending on the application, and the future development of the unmanned mobile object, namely the drone, in which the creativity and the technology are combined with each other continues to be enhanced by the improvement of autonomy and artificial intelligence. Software-based architecture-based technologies have been developed in collaboration with embedded SWs that combine sensors, motors, and control systems. In hardware, it is customary to use a combination of materials and design to increase the freedom of design. It will be made in a free structure.
