  • In order to dye nylon/cotton blended fabrics in solid colors with only acid dyes, a hetero-bifunctional bridge compound (DBDCBS) was examined. The bridge compound was designed to react only onto cotton fabrics first, on which amino-containing acid dyes react later by covalent bonding. By the effect of DBDCBS, amino-containing acid dyes exhibited high affinity toward the cotton fabrics. From the dyeing properties examined at various conditions, the optimum dyeing was decided at pH 4 and $100^{\circ}C$. Consequently, the solid color was obtained on nylon/cotton blended fabrics in one bath dyeing process using only acid dyes. The DBDCBS did not show any negative effect on nylon side in terms of dyeing and physical properties.

  • To develop and extend the shelf-life of vitamin C enriched fresh-cut apples using CA stored Fuji apples, dipping in 10% L-ascorbic acid and packaging with 0.03 mm LDPE, 0.04 mm PP and 0.08 mm Nylon/PE film(N$_2$displacement) were carried out. The changes of gas concentrations in the packaging and quality attributes of fresh-cut apples were examined during storage at 10$^{\circ}C$. The concentrations of O$_2$was maintained lower in Nylon/PE film than the other film, the level of O$_2$was in the range of 1∼3%. The increase of C$_2$H$_4$ concentrations in Nylon/PE film bag was more suppressed than the others. The vitamin C content of fresh-cut apples was enriched by dipping in L-ascorbic acid solution up to 241 mg$.$100 g-1 f.w., and the loss or that content was retarded differently by the package conditions of lower O$_2$level during storage. Browning in fresh-cut apples was shown after 6 days of storage in LDPE and PP film. but it was not shown by 14 days of storage in Nylon/PE film. Spoilage and off odor in fresh-cut apples were not detected up to 14 days of storage in Nylon/PE film. The results indicated that the vitamin C enriched fresh-cut apples can be processed from the long-term CA stored apples, and maintaining high quality of the products ill be possible in cases of the application of sealing packaging after O$_2$removal with film having low O$_2$permeability.

  • In recent years, a number of metal machine parts, in the field of the car manufactures and electronic goods for home, have been replaced by nylon-6 in order to weight, cost, and a period of process of manufacture. It's because nylon-6 materials as an industrial material have higher economical and productive advantage than the metalic ones. However, in domestic injection manufactures, there are few data on fiber glass synthetic on nylon-6. It is said that plastic in process of manufacture using the same injection materials make their results different in large scale according to fiber glass synthetic rate conditions. In this study, we have studied effects of the glass fiber synthetic rate on the characteristics of fatigue failure for nylon-6.

  • The colorfastness of dying persipiration and laundry on summer clothing must be considered, because it has special relation to the human body. The colors of fibers as cotton, p/c, acryl, polyester and nylon which have been widely used for blouse and T-Shirt of Knitted wear are R-P, Y-G, BI-B and print. Studies were carried out with persipirometer, for the natural fiber of cotton the chemical one of nylon, with additional stuff involved, which polluted. The experiment was conducted to colorfastness with acid solution and alkaline solution to see the alteration of color and staining of man-made persiperation. The results obtained from this experiment can be summerized as follows. 1. The order of color alteration isnylon < p/c < coton < polyester < acryl, and the nylon shows the lowest colorfastness, which is 3 class, and the acrly shows the highest colorfateness, which is 5 class. The staining of multifiber test of cotton fabric is nylon < p/c < polyester < cotton < acryl. The staining of multifiber of nylon fabric is nylon polyester < p/c < cotton < acryl. 2. In acid solution and alkaline solution, the alteration of color and staining makes almost no difference, but concerning staining of cotton, the acid solution is lower than the case of alteration solution only. 3. In the pollution on cotton and nylon, the latter is more easily polluted than the former regardless of fabrics. Especially in case of polluted nylon, ti shows the lowest color fastness (2 class), which causes a problem of the dying process and dye stuffs. 4. No difference of color alteration shows among them, but R-P and print show low color fastness (2 class), especially printed nylon shows the lowest value (1 class).

  • Nine disperse dyes have been synthesized by diazotization of 2-amino-4-(p-nitrophenyl)-5-nitrothiazole and coupled to substituted N-alkylanilines. Spectral properties in the IR and visible range of the dyes obtained were investigated. The dyeing performance of these dyes was assessed on nylon and polyester fibers. These dyes were found to give reddish brown to bluish violet shades on dyeing with very good depth, brightness and levelness on nylon and polyester fibers. The dyed fibers showed fairly good light fastness, very good to excellent fastness to wash, rubbing, perspiration and excellent fastness to sublimation. The dyebath exhaustion and fixation on the fiber were found to be very good.

  • The natural dyestuff(squid ink) was manufactured from squid ink by boiling in 0.1% NaOH solution and powdering in freeze dryer. Cotton, wool, silk and nylon fabrics were dyed under several conditions using the manufactured squid ink to investigate the dyeability and color fastness. Dyeing was operated in acidic dyebath of pH 4 because the squid ink is anionic. Dyeabilities on wool, silk and nylon fabrics were good, especially silk fabrics were dyed deeper than others because of being amine group. But dyeability on cotton fabrics was low and developed with chitosan treatment. All the dyed fabrics showed excellent in color fastness to crocking and laundering. Also light fastness of them were excellent except nylon. The light fastness of dyed-nylon fabrics was as poor as grade 1, but they could be improved to grade 4 by aftertreatment with gallicacid. Useing the natural dyestuff-squid ink powder, we could execute whenever we want to dye fabrics in the adequate concentration. Dyeabilities were developed according to repeating times of dyeing and the increased dye concentration. We could recycle the wasting sources.

  • Introduction: In aged people, stroke incidence is increased. But standardized experimental animal protocol study for the research of stroke therapy is rare. There is little report on the success rate of cerebral artery occlusion model using standardized Nylon thread length of precise thread end-size controlled. Method: In this study, the operator intended the occlusion of middle cerebral artery (MCA) using $0.18{\pm}0.02mm$ end 5-0 Nylon thread. Middle cerebral artery occlusion was induced for 60min under isoflurane anesthesia. After 60min, the operator removed the Nylon thread and reperfusion was induced for 23hrs. The mice was killed 23hrs after reperfusion and infarction area of brain was confirmed by 1.5% TTC (2,3,5-tryphenyl tetrazolium chloride) staining. Results: According to end size and insert length of Nylon thread, Middle cerebral artery occlusion (n=50), internal carotid artery occlusion (n= 14), distal middle cerebral artery occlusion (n= 36), anterior cerebral artery (n= 1) were induced. And no infarction (n= 50) was observed. Conclusion: According to weight of mice, the operator induced reversible cerebral artery occlusion model by different insert length (30.0~36.9g : 9.0mm, 37.0~40.0g : 9.5mm) of Nylon thread. Success of cerebral artery occlusion model was confirmed by checking infarction area using TTC staining. The success rate (66.9%, 101/151) of reversible cerebral artery occlusion model in the mouse and the operational conditions are shown.
