The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of human patient simulator(HPS)-based education on self-directed learning(SDL) and collective efficacy(CE) for nursing students. This study design was one group pre-posttest. The subjects were 2nd grade 92 students enrolling in the integrated practice. They have no previous experience of HPS-based education. HPS-based education included team based learning, skill training, taking a high-fidelity simulation with Medical Education Technologies, Inc (METI) simulator and being debriefed during 12 weeks. The pretest and posttest were conducted to understand the improvement in SDL and CE. After the subjects had participated in the HPS-based education, they showed statistically significant higher SDL(t=4.24, p=0.000) than before. However, there was no significant change in CE. Based on the results, this study suggests that SDL for nursing students were significantly improved by HPS-base education.

Objectives: This study was conducted to examine the effect of the utilization of the educational planning model (ADDIE) and self-leadership of occupational health managers (OHM) on work performance. Methods: The sample of this study was 180 OHM with over six months of experience, who attended continuing education by the Korean Academic Society of Occupational Health Nursing. Data were collected from April to June 2019 and analyzed using frequency analysis, t-test, F-test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis through SPSS Program Ver. 23. Results: According to the results of multiple regression analysis of the factors influencing the work performance of OHM, the model was significant and the explanatory power was 40%. Self-leadership (${\beta}=.45$, p=.001), utilization of the educational planning model (${\beta}=.20$, p<.005), and position (${\beta}=.16$, p=.024) were significant influence factors on work performance. Conclusions: To improve the work performance of OHM, a customized program needs to be developed that promotes the utilization ability of the educational planning model and a strategy of benchmarking high performers in the light of their positions. The improvement of the work performance of OHM will eventually make a contribution to the reduction of industrial disaster and occupational diseases.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to explore the influence of learning social integration and self-doubt on the suicidal ideation, and to test the mediating effect of self-doubt and the moderating effect of drinking on suicidal ideation. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was administered to a convenience sample of 1,000 freshmen in a university in S city. A total of 803 questionnaires were included in the statistical analysis. To analysed the data, Pearson correlation and structural equation modeling were performed. Results: In this study, self-doubt had a mediating effects in the path way from learning social integration to suicidal ideation. Drinking had a moderating effect between self-doubt and suicidal ideation. Conclusions: The results suggest that the low level of learning social integration increases the level of self-doubt and leads to suicidal ideation. Drinking was a significant moderator of suicidal ideation. Therefore, interventions on various strategies to enhance academic performance and social interaction skill, and to help to stop or not to initiate drinking habit are needed in the early part of the freshman year.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate on the Korean and Western medicine clinic quality to use IPA matrix and to establish a Korean medicine service management strategy. Methods : In order to achieve the research purpose, medical consumers who visited 3 Korean and Western medicine clinics were surveyed. frequency analysis, paired t-test were used for the statistical analysis, and the mean of each variable was used for IPA analysis. Results : The major results of analysis are as follows: It was confirmed that the skill and the kindness of the human resources were important in both the Korean medicine clinic and the Western medicine clinic. And it was confirmed the difference of the satisfaction rate and IPA between the Korean medicine clinic and the Western medicine clinic. Especially Medical devices and equipment, Easy booking, reception, payment procedure were different in IPA analysis. Conclusions : We confirmed the similarities and differences between Korean medicine clinics and Western medicine clinics in terms of importance, satisfaction, and IPA. On the basis of these results, Korean Medicine clinic could arrange a management strategy in consideration of consumers' choice attribute.
The purpose of this study is to investigate determinants of intent to use a wireless information technology(WIT) of University Hospital Nurses. The independent variables used in the study are usefulness, compatibility, social environment, perceived readiness, technical readiness, organizational readiness and socio-demographic characteristics. The dependent variable is the intent to use a wireless information technology(WIT). The sample used in this study consisted of 297 nurses selected from a university hospital located in Wonju, Gangwon-do, Korea Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The results of the study revealed that 5 independent variables of usefulness, compatibility, perceived readiness, technical readiness, and organizational readiness were found to have significant effects on the nurses' intent to use a WIT. As a conclusion, it is important to make organizational, clinical, and technical environment WIT-friendly prior to applying WIT to hospital nurses. In addition, it is also important to provide an education and training for nurses to improve their skill of using WIT and to make the new WIT compatible with the existing nursing information system.
Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the current job-related characteristics coordinators in East-West Collaborative Medical Practices(EWCMP) and to develop activation plans for them. Method : The participants were 51 personnel who were supporting EWCMP in the 28 institutions. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed with descriptive statistics. Results : The major role of the participants was educating and consulting patients(74.5%) and followed by supporting collaborating physician(70.6%). They assumed to be helpful to make the patients easy to use EWCMP(98%) and to give patients full information what they asked(96%). However, participants responded lack of adequate educational programs and role ambiguity as chief complaints(91.7%). They showed relatively high level of job importance(78.7points on 100points) and job satisfaction(72.8points on 100points). Coordinators were expected to have bachelor and more than 8 years clinical career, and communication skill. Conclusions : Coordinators have played key roles in giving information for the patients and coordinating EWCMP. However their roles and job description was not clear, and educational programs was insufficient as required. Therefore, it is needed to clarify their roles and job description and establish professional educational programs for supporting coordinators.
Objectives: This research is to examine the relationship between dental hygienists' exposure to incivility from doctors, bosses, colleagues, patients, their family and visitors, and their turnover intention. Methods: The research was conducted using Nursing Incivility Scale (NIS) and a survey. The survey was conducted from September 10 to October 20, 2015. 240 dental hygienists were conveniently sampled from Forty dental clinics and offices in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeongi-do, and Chungcheog-do. Results: The dental hygienists' exposure to incivility and turnover intention showed correlation (p<0.01), and its sub-factors, - the incivility from colleagues, doctors, patients and visitors - are also correlated with their turnover intention (p<0.01). The strongest factor affecting dental hygienists' turnover intention was incivility from doctors (${\beta}=0.279$, p<0.001), followed by colleagues (${\beta}=0.168$, p=0.029), patients and visitors (${\beta}=0.148$, p=0.026). The modified explanation ability of this model is 24.9%. Conclusions: Dental hygienists' exposure to incivility in workplace is highly correlated to their turnover intention. A program to educate dental hygienists positive mental attitude, communication skill to deal with incivility, and stress reduction method is therefore required in order to reduce their turnover intention.
In spite of the great progress of the theory and skill of the Nursing Care & Medical area in relation to pregnancy, nurses in clinics face up to many challenges in maternity nursing care areas. The reason is that the mobility and mortality of mothers was sharply decreased and the unknown high-risk diseases of pregnancy woman in the past is made public. That's why it is difficult to meet the pregnancy woman in natural process from pregnancy to delivery in recently. Admission rooms are filled with high-risk pregnancy women. As a matter of fact, we have done nursing care into the surface symptoms and diseases of high-risk pregnancy women so far. We have been indifferent to a long period hospitalization, separation from family, and conflict of repeated examination. Therefore, it is widely spread to understand the emotional conflict experienced by high-risk pregnancy women and to need for nursing intervention to bring up about emotional support and the ability of perception in psychological crisis. Although the pregnancy woman judged in high-risk should carry out normal task of pregnancy, she have to be confronted with secondary risk situation. The health of self & fetus threatened by the risk situation could be decreased through care plan, but psychological stress increases. Therefore, the pregnancy brings into non-control state. It is important to ask that what the hospitalized pregnancy women in high-risk think of themselves status. Because misunderstanding or serious anxiety of themselves status put into mother and fetus in danger. And adaptation mode makes all the difference. I would like to consider how nurses could deal with this high-risk circumstances in the position of pregnancy woman on the basis of the above fact. This study uses phenomenological method to suggest the basis material for nurses to do nursing intervention in view of pregnancy woman. Because this method understands the nature of true life of pregnancy woman throughly. The phenomenological method is the sources to describe or explain affluently the process generated in confirmation areas and environment and is the application for readers to understand and recognize clinic reality and then apply this method to reasoning study place or other places. Specifically, the phenomenon study method, one of the phenomenological method, is applied. The use of that method is to describe and generalize the experience in environment exactly. The study of this study is as follows : Among 187 descriptive stamens from 8 study participants are classified into 42 theme cluster at the stage of the first analysis. Those theme is categorized into 8 sub-subjects such as anxiety of uncertainty, foreknowledge about risk circumstance, will power about overcome, unsettled feeling about hospital, relief, optimistic thought, family support, and indifferences. At the last stage of analysis, those things are categorized into 3 subjects. When high-risk pregnancy woman foretell the situation, they feel unsettlement about uncertainty and untrust feeling about hospital. But they are ease with family support and hospital support. On the other hand, they express indifferent 3-way structure response to the situation having will of overcome and exceeding optimistic thought. In those statements, the experience by pregnancy woman shows 3 respect subjects. 1. They are anxious of this situation and are in desperation and don't recognize their role to be carried out 2. They think of this situation as normal process of pregnancy and are not concerned that this can give themselves and fetus fatal damage. 3. The pregnancy women will never confront this situation. This study shows the pregnancy woman has anxiety and optimistic relief about the situation, and ignores and optimistic relief about the situation, and ignores many things. Therefore, nurses in clinic should give pregnancy woman knowledge and information about the high-risk and help them to deal with the situation spontaneously. High-risk pregnancy woman should have the care plan in respect of the right perception. And the nurse know that their support help out pregnancy woman overcome the crisis in this respect of the special nursing intervention.
Objectives: This study was conducted as descriptive correlation research in order to survey healthcare personnel(HCP)'s awareness of patient safety culture and their recognition of standard precautions, and to examine the correlation between the two factors. Methods: The subjects were 400 HCPs including 80 doctors, 240 nurses, and 80 medical technicians from two general hospitals. The questionnaire used in the survey consisted of 9 questions on general characteristics, 44 on the perception of patient safety culture, and 21 on the recognition of standard precautions. Results: According to the subjects' general characteristics, the score was significantly higher in those aged over 40 than in those aged 30-39. In addition, it was significantly higher in managers than in practitioners, in those with work experience of less than a year than in those with 5-9 years. The score was also significantly higher in those working 8 hours a day than in those working over 10 hour a day. The number of medical accident reports according to the subjects' general characteristics was significantly larger in nurses than in doctors, in managers than in practitioners, and in those with 10 years' or longer experiences than in those with less than a year. In the awareness of standard precautions according to the subjects' general characteristics, the score was significantly higher in female workers than in male workers, and in managers than in practitioners. As a whole, the subjects' awareness of patient safety culture and their recognition of standard precautions showed a significant correlation with each other. Conclusion: From the result of this study, sufficient work force and the promotion of organizational culture for safety is needed in order to guarantee patient safety. Likewise, these results suggest that experience, job skill, and adequate working hours have a positive effect on the awareness of patient safety culture and the recognition of standard precautions.

The purpose of this study was to develop a scale to evaluate the safety competency of perioperative nurses and to examine its validity and reliability. The research process included the development of preliminary items through literature reviews and the construct validity examination of the conceptual framework for the preliminary scale. The content validity of the identified items was evaluated by experts, resulting in 30 preliminary items. The participants involved in testing the validity and reliability of the preliminary scale were 377 perioperative nurses. The data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis, parallel analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and internal consistency. To verify the construction factor of the preliminary scale, exploratory factor analysis and parallel analysis were performed, resulting in 3 factors and 27 items. The internal structure of the scale was schematized using confirmatory factor analysis and the goodness of fit of the final research model was very appropriate, as shown by the values of TLI=.90, CFI=.91, RMSEA=.07, and SRMR=.07. The final scale consisted of 27 items and 3 factors including knowledge (6 items), skill (13 items), and attitude (8 items). Cronbach' ${\alpha}$ for the final scale was .94, showing good internal consistency. This safety competency scale can be used for assessing the competency of perioperative nurses regarding patient safety, for developing patient safety studies and for the career development of perioperative nurses.
