A scaling method valid for most turbomachines based on first principles is derived. It accounts for axial and centrifugal turbomachines with respect to relative gap width/tip clearance, relative roughness, Reynolds number and/or Mach number for design and off-design operation as well. The scaling method has been successfully validated by a variety of experimental data obtained at TU Darmstadt. The physically based, hence reliable and universal method is compared with previous, empirical scaling methods.

Using random numbers to represent uncertainty and unpredictability is essential in many industries. This is crucial in disciplines like computer science, cryptography, and statistics where the use of randomness helps to guarantee the security and dependability of systems and procedures. In computer science, random number generation is used to generate passwords, keys, and other security tokens as well as to add randomness to algorithms and simulations. According to recent research, the hardware random number generators used in billions of Internet of Things devices do not produce enough entropy. This article describes how raw data gathered by IoT system sensors can be used to generate random numbers for cryptography systems and also examines the results of these random numbers. The results obtained have been validated by successfully passing the FIPS 140-1 and NIST 800-22 test suites.

For Lift-type Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT), it is difficult to evaluate the performance through the scale-model wind tunnel tests, because of the scale effect relating to Reynolds number. However, it is beneficial to figure out the critical value of Reynolds number or minimum size of the Lift-type VAWT, when designing this type of micro wind turbine. Therefore, in this study, the performance of several scale-models of Lift-type VAWT (Reynolds number : $1.5{\times}10^4$ to $4.6{\times}10^4$) was investigated. As a result, the Reynolds number effect depends on the blade chord rather than the inlet velocity. In addition, there was a transition point of the Reynolds number to change the dominant driving force from Drag to Lift.
In the conventional computing environment, users use only a small number of software systems intensively. So it had been enough to check and guarantee the functional correctness and safety of a small number of giant systems in order to protect the user systems and their information inside the systems from outside attacks. However, checking the correctness and safety of giant systems is not enough anymore, since users are using various software systems or web services provided by unskilled developers. To prove or guarantee the safety of software system, a lot of research has been conducted in diverse areas of computer science. We will discuss the on-going approaches for guaranteeing or verifying the safety of software systems in this paper. We also discuss the future research challenge which must be solved with better solutions in the near future.

This paper presents a fuzzy-GA method for the allocation and operation of dispersed generator systems(DGs) based on load model in composite distribution systems. Groups of each individual load model consist of residential, industrial, commercial, official and agricultural load. The problem formulation considers an objective to reduce power loss of distribution systems and the constraints such as the number or total capacity of DGs and the deviation of the bus voltage. The main idea of solving fuzzy goal programming is to transform the original objective function and constraints into the equivalent multi-objectives functions with fuzzy sets to evaluate their imprecise nature for the criterion of power loss minimization, the number or total capacity of DGs and the bus voltage deviation, and then solve the problem using genetic algorithm. The method proposed is applied to IEEE 12 bus and 33 bus test systems to demonstrate its effectiveness. .

This paper has proposed the modelling by simulation in order to evaluate the performance of process through discrete event simulation using SIMAN language in flexible manufacturing systems. The production system is assumed to be a job shop type of system under the batch production of discrete products. In this paper, the input data is the workstation(process) time, the number of workstation(process), a probability distribution, the number of simulation runs. Also, transient period is considered. In the case study, this paper deals with three products in real flexible manufacturing systems. Finally, a number of simulation runs were executed under different experimental conditions to obtain preliminary statistics on the following performance measures: operating rate of facility and average system operating rate, transient period, central processing unit, average system throughput, and average waiting time in queues.
The low-floor tram is a kind of railway vehicles which is operated on the street way track. For reducing the radius of curvature of the track, the tram consists of some carbody modules, and the articulation systems connect and support these carbody modules. The kind of articulation systems would be the hinge type and the pitching type. The hinge type articulation could allow only the yawing motion of the carbody modules, and the pitching type articulation could allow the pitching and yawing motions of the carbody modules simultaneously. With these function of the articulation systems, the tram could be operated on the horizontal and vertical curvature of the track. The number of each type of articulation could be decided with the number of carbody modules, and the manufacturer would decided the position of each type of the articulation in the view of the stability of carbody modules in the operation condition.

Trip-based material handling systems such as AGV systems, lift trucks, etc. are often designed with a given flow matrix (or FROM-TO chart) which is usually treated as the number of loaded trips that the devices must perform per unit time between the stations. In reality, the number of trips that would result from parts flow in a facility is dictated by the transfer batch size, i.e., the number of parts that are transferred from one station to the next in one trip. In this paper, we present analytical and simulation results aimed at determining optimal or near-optimal transfer batch sizes in manufacturing systems.

This paper deals with the relationship between zeros and step response of the second and third order LTI (Linear Time Invariant) SISO (Single-Input and Single-Output) systems with complex poles. Although it has been known that the maximum number of local extrema is less than the number of zeros in the system with only real poles[8], some cases with complex poles are shown in this paper to have many local extrema. This paper proposes monotone nondecreasing conditions and describes the relationship between the transient response and the number of local extrema in step response with each region of zeros.

In the FDMA and TDMA Cellular Systems, call blocking rise when frewquence slots andtime slots are used to ther users. Otherwise, in the CDMA cellular systems, call locking arises when interference level is above 10dB according to call of other users. System capacity is defined to be Erlang capacity that is the number of users when CDMA blocking probability is 1% or 2%. Users number corresponded channel number of AMPS and TDMA cellular systems. In this paper, we proposed new reuse-fraction using square of interference poser and obtained Erlang capacity for reverse link of CDMA cellular system with bit rate $R_{b}$, 9.6kbps and 14.4kbps. As a results, Erlange capacity of CDMA system have more 20.7 and 5.5 times than AMPS and TDMA system and have more form 1 to 4 Erlang thatn Viterbi and Padovani obtaned.d.
