A Development of Home Mess-Cleanup Robot with Entertainment Function

  • The vacuum-cleaner had made the burden of house chore lighten but the operation labour of a vacuum-cleaner had been so severe. Recently, the cleaning robot was producted to perfectly solve the cleaning labour of a house but it also was not successful because it still had a problem of mess-cleaning, which is the clean-up of big trash and the arrangement of newspapers, clothes, etc. The cleaning robot is to just vacuum dust and small trash and has no function to arrange and take away before the automatic vacuum-cleaning. For this reason, the market for the cleaning robot is not yet built up. So, we need a design method and technological algorithm of new automatic machine to solve the problem of mess-cleanup in house. In this paper, a Home Mess-Cleanup Robot(HMR), which has a practical function of the automatic mess-cleanup, is developed. It need functions of agile automatic navigation, novel manipulation system for mess-cleanup. The automatic navigation system has to be controlled for the full scanning of living room, to recognize the absolute position and orientation of the self, the precise tracking of the desired path, and to distinguish the mess object to clean-up from obstacle object to just avoid. The manipulation system, which is not needed in the vacuum-cleaning robot, must have the functions, how to distinguish big trash to clean from mess objects to arrange, how to grasp in according to the form of mess objects, how to move to the destination in according to mess objects and arrange them. Then, it should be an intelligent system so that the mess cleaning task can be autonomously performed in a wide variety of situations and environments. It need to also has the entertainment functions for the good communication between the human and HMR. Therefore, the Home Mess-cleanup Robot with Entertainmental Human Interface is developed in this paper. Finally, the good performance of the designed machine, HMR'4, is confirmed through the results of the mess clean-up and arrangement.

  • Chaenomeles speciose Nakai (CSP) or Chaenomeles sinensis Koehne (CSS) (Rosaceae) has been used, traditionally, to treat muscle problems and gastric dampness in eastern Asia countries. Therefore, many studies have focused on investigating its active compounds and effects on muscle pain, arthritis and gastro-intestinal diseases. Recently, several studies reported that CSS extract degrade amyloid plaques and enhance synaptic acetylcholine level in vivo and in vitro. Although these two Chaenomeles species are used without differences, CSP is reported to contains more phenolic compounds which are known to enhance memory. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the memory ameliorating effects of CSP by employing the passive avoidance test, Y-maze task and novel object recognition test. CSP (30 or 100 mg/kg) ameliorated the declined memory induced by scopolamine injection and enhanced the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels along with post synaptic density protein 95 (PSD 95) levels at the hippocampus of the scopolamine-injected mouse brain. These results suggested that CSP alleviates the cognition declines caused by cholinergic blockade via enhancing BDNF levels and PSD 95, and that it would enhance memory formation and be useful for treating memory declines.

Protective effects of Acanthopanax divaricatus extract in mouse models of Alzheimer's disease

  • BACKGROUND: Acanthopanax divaricatus var. albeofructus (ADA) extract has been reported to have anti-oxidant, immunomodulatory, and anti-mutagenic activity. MATERIALS/METHODS: We investigated the effects of ADA extract on two mouse models of Alzheimer's disease (AD); intracerebroventricular injection of ${\beta}$-amyloid peptide ($A{\beta}$) and amyloid precursor protein/presenilin 1 (APP/PS1)-transgenic mice. RESULTS: Intra-gastric administration of ADA stem extract (0.25 g/kg, every 12 hrs started from one day prior to injection of $A{\beta}1$-42 until evaluation) effectively blocked $A{\beta}1$-42-induced impairment in passive avoidance performance, and $A{\beta}1$-42-induced increase in immunoreactivities of glial fibrillary acidic protein and interleukin (IL)-$1{\alpha}$ in the hippocampus. In addition, it alleviated the $A{\beta}1$-42-induced decrease in acetylcholine and increase in malondialdehyde levels in the cortex. In APP/PS1-transgenic mice, chronic oral administration of ADA stem extract (0.1 or 0.5 g/kg/day for six months from the age of six to 12 months) resulted in significantly enhanced performance of the novel-object recognition task, and reduced amyloid deposition and IL-$1{\beta}$ in the brain. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study suggest that ADA stem extract may be useful for prevention and treatment of AD.

철근콘크리트 공사의 작업 생산성 분석을 위한 3차원 객체 활용 정보관리 시스템 구축방안 (A Framework on 3D Object-Based Construction Information Management System for Work Productivity Analysis for Reinforced Concrete Work)

  • 국내 건설산업에서 생산성 정보의 필요성과 그 활용에 대한 중요성 인식에도 불구하고, 현장 단위의 공사계획 시 효과적인 피드백을 통한 생산성 정보관리가 미흡한 실정이다. 공사계획의 신뢰성을 향상하기 위해서는 생산성 정보의 효과적인 활용이 요구되지만, 현장에서는 공사계획을 관리자의 경험 및 직관에 의존하고 있다. 생산성 정보가 효과적으로 관리되지 못하는 이유는 생산성 정보의 관리를 위한 추가 인력투입이 어렵다는 점, 기존의 생산성 정보가 새로운 프로젝트에 적용되기 어렵다는 점 등 때문인 것으로 파악되었다. 이러한 문제의 해결방안을 제시하기 위해서 선행연구조사 및 면담조사를 하였고 그 결과 새로운 시스템이 필요하다는 사실을 확인하였다. 새로운 시스템의 요구사항으로는 최소화된 업무, 한정된 정보관리범위, 정보의 분류, 정보의 피드백, 생산성 저하요인의 고려 등이 있다. 본 연구에서는 상기 내용을 바탕으로 생산성 저하요인 및 생산성 정보의 관리가 가능한 시스템의 프레임워크를 제안하였다. 이 시스템은 사용자 접근성이 좋은 SketchUp 소프트웨어를 활용하여 프로그램의 활용에 따른 추가인력의 투입이나 업무량 증가를 최소화할 수 있도록 하였다. 제안한 시스템은 준비단계, 입력단계, 처리단계, 출력단계의 총 네 단계의 과정을 통해서 정보를 입력하여 처리하고 출력하도록 하였다. 입력한 시공정보는 건축공사 표준시방서에 기재된 내용을 참고로 구성한 Task Breakdown Structure (TBS)와 Material Breakdown Structure (MBS)를 통해서 분류되어 생산성 정보로 변환되도록 하고, 변환된 정보를 그래픽으로 화면에 출력하도록 하여 사용자는 이를 활용해 해당 현장에서의 생산성 정보를 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 생산성 정보관리 시스템을 K 사옥 공사현장에 대입하여 현장적용 가능성 및 정보 활용성 측면에서 검증하였고, 사용성 및 적용 가능성에서 매우 긍정적인 결과와 정보 활용에 따른 이득이 있을 것으로 예상되었다. 본 시스템을 활용할 경우 생산성 정보를 활용한 공사계획이 가능할 것이고 추후 정보가 지속해서 누적될 경우, 본 연구의 기대효과는 더욱 높아질 것으로 사료된다.
