  • To inspect the defects of printed markings on the surface of IC package, the OCV (Optical Character Verification) method based on NCC (Normalized Correlation Coefficient) pattern matching is widely used. In order to detect the micro pattern defects appearing on the small portion of the markings, a Partitioned NCC pattern matching method was proposed to overcome the limitation of the NCC pattern matching. In this method, the reference pattern is first partitioned into several blocks and the NCC values are computed and are combined in these small partitioned blocks, rather than just using the NCC value for the whole reference pattern. In this paper, we proposed a method to decide the proper number of partition blocks and a method to inspect and combine the NCC values of each partitioned block to identify the defective markings.

An Adaptive Occluded Region Detection and Interpolation for Robust Frame Rate Up-Conversion

  • FRUC (Frame Rate Up-Conversion) technique needs an effective frame interpolation algorithm using motion information between adjacent neighboring frames. In order to have good visual qualities in the interpolated frames, it is necessary to develop an effective detection and interpolation algorithms for occluded regions. For this aim, this paper proposes an effective occluded region detection algorithm through the adaptive forward and backward motion searches and also by introducing the minimum value of normalized cross-correlation coefficient (NCCC). That is, the proposed scheme looks for the location with the minimum sum of absolute differences (SAD) and this value is compared to that of the location with the maximum value of NCCC based on the statistics of those relations. And, these results are compared with the size of motion vector and then the proposed algorithm decides whether the given block is the occluded region or not. Furthermore, once the occluded regions are classified, then this paper proposes an adaptive interpolation algorithm for occluded regions, which still exist in the merged frame, by using the neighboring pixel information and the available data in the occluded block. Computer simulations show that the proposed algorithm can effectively classify the occluded region, compared to the conventional SAD-based method and the performance of the proposed interpolation algorithm has better PSNR than the conventional algorithms.

판재의 성형한계 결정을 위한 시간의존적 방법의 제안 (Proposal of a Time-dependent Method for Determining the Forming Limit of Sheet Metal)

  • Most domestic and international standards on the forming limit diagram (FLD) including ISO 12004-2, use a 'position-dependent method,' which determines the forming limit from a strain distribution measured on the specimen after necking or fracture. However, the position-dependent method has inherent problems such as the incidence of asymmetry of a strain distribution, the estimation of missing data near fracture, the termination time of test, and the deformation due to the new stress equilibrium after a fracture, which is blamed for causing sometimes a significant lab-to-lab variation. The 'time-dependent method,' which is anticipated to be a new international standard for evaluating the forming limit, is expected to greatly improve these intrinsic disadvantages of the position-dependent method. It is because the time-dependent method makes it possible to identify and accurately determine the forming limit, just before the necking point from the strain data as continuously measured in a short time interval. In this study, we propose a new time-dependent method based on a Gaussian fitting of strain acceleration with the introduction of 'normalized correlation coefficient.' It has been shown in this study that this method can determine the forming limit very stably and gives a higher value, which is in comparison with the results of the previously studied position-dependent and time-dependent methods.

Robust Image Hashing for Tamper Detection Using Non-Negative Matrix Factorization

  • The invariance relation existing in the non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) is used for constructing robust image hashes in this work. The image is first re-scaled to a fixed size. Low-pass filtering is performed on the luminance component of the re-sized image to produce a normalized matrix. Entries in the normalized matrix are pseudo-randomly re-arranged under the control of a secret key to generate a secondary image. Non-negative matrix factorization is then performed on the secondary image. As the relation between most pairs of adjacent entries in the NMF's coefficient matrix is basically invariant to ordinary image processing, a coarse quantization scheme is devised to compress the extracted features contained in the coefficient matrix. The obtained binary elements are used to form the image hash after being scrambled based on another key. Similarity between hashes is measured by the Hamming distance. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme is robust against perceptually acceptable modifications to the image such as Gaussian filtering, moderate noise contamination, JPEG compression, re-scaling, and watermark embedding. Hashes of different images have very low collision probability. Tampering to local image areas can be detected by comparing the Hamming distance with a predetermined threshold, indicating the usefulness of the technique in digital forensics.

  • A probabilistic approach for evaluating failure risk is suggested in this paper. Probabilistic fracture analyses were performed for a pressurized pipe of a Cr-Mo steel reflecting variation of material properties at high temperature. A crack was assumed to be located along the weld fusion line. Probability density functions of major variables were determined by statistical analyses of material creep and creep crack growth data measured by the previous experimental studies by authors. Distributions of these variables were implemented in Monte Carlo simulation of this study. As a fracture parameter for characterizing growth of a fusion line crack between two materials with different creep properties, $C_t$ normalized with $C^*$ was employed. And the elapsed time was also normalized with tT, Resultingly, failure probability as a function of operating time was evaluated fur various cases. Conventional deterministic life assessment result was turned out to be conservative compared with that of probabilistic result. Sensitivity analysis for each input variable was conducted to understand the most influencing variable to the analysis results. Internal pressure, creep crack growth coefficient and creep coefficient were more sensitive to failure probability than other variables.

  • Using magnetorheological (MR) dampers in multiswitch open-loop control mode has been shown to be cost-effective for cable vibration mitigation. In this paper, a method for analyzing the damping performance of taut cables incorporating MR dampers in open-loop control mode is developed considering the effects of damping coefficient, damper stiffness, damper mass, and stiffness of the damper support. Making use of a three-element model of MR dampers and complex modal analysis, both numerical and asymptotic solutions are obtained. An analytical expression is obtained from the asymptotic solution to evaluate the equivalent damping ratio of the cable-damper system in the open-loop control mode. The individual and combined effects of the damping coefficient, damper stiffness, damper mass and stiffness of damper support on vibration control effectiveness are investigated in detail. The main thrust of the present study is to derive a general formula explicitly relating the normalized system damping ratio and the normalized damper parameters in consideration of all concerned effects, which can be easily used for the design of MR dampers to achieve optimal open-loop vibration control of taut cables.

계란 등급판정을 위한 파각란 자동 검사 시스템 (Automatic Eggshell Crack Detection System for Egg Grading)

  • Egg grading is determined by exterior and interior quality. Among the evaluation methods for the egg quality, a candling method is common to identify eggs with cracked shells and interior defects. But this method is time-consuming and laborious. In addition, practically, it is challenging to detect hairline and micro cracks. In this study, an on-line inspection system based on acoustic resonance frequency analysis was developed to detect hairline cracks on eggshells. A roller conveyor was used to transfer eggs along one lane to the impact position where each of eggs rotated by the roller was excited with an impact device at four different locations on the eggshell equator. The impact device was consisted of a plastic hammer and a rotary solenoid. The acoustic response of the egg to the impact was measured with a small condenser microphone at the same position as the impact device was installed. Two acoustic parameters, correlation coefficient for normalized power spectra and standard deviation of peak resonant frequencies, were used to detect cracked eggs. Intact eggs showed relatively high correlations among the four normalized power spectra and low standard deviations of the four peak resonant frequencies. On the other hand, cracked eggs showed low correlations and high standard deviations as compared to the intact. This method allowed a crack detection rate of 97.6%.

  • 음향 반향제거기에서의 동시통화 검출 오류는 근단화자의 음성신호를 왜곡시키거나 반향제거 성능을 저하시킬 수 있다. 따라서 정확한 동시통화 구간의 검출은 음향 반향제거기의 성능을 결정짓는 중요한 요소 중의 하나이다. 기존의 상호상관계수를 이용한 동시통화 검출 알고리듬은 적응필터의 초기 수렴구간과 배경잡음이 많은 환경에서는 근단화자의 음성신호가 존재하지 않더라도 상호상관계수 값이 증가하여 동시통화 검출 오류가 자주 발생할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 상호상관계수를 이용한 동시통화 검출 알고리듬의 문제점을 해결하기 위해 상호상관계수와 더불어 단일통화 구간에서의 적응필터의 정규화된 오차신호 전력을 이용하여 동시통화를 검출하는 알고리듬을 제안한다. 실험 결과, 제안한 동시통화 검출 알고리듬은 잡음환경에 강인할 뿐만 아니라 음향 반향제거기의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

생분해에 의한 용존 자연유기물질 분광특성 및 Pyrene 결합반응성 변화 (Changes in Spectroscopic Characteristics and Pyrene Binding Reactivities of Dissolved Organic Matters By Biodegradation)

  • 본 연구에서는 낙엽과 토양에서 추출한 용존 자연유기물질(DOM)을 대상으로 생분해 과정 중 변화하는 분광특성과 pyrene 결합 반응성을 조사하였다. 유기물질 특성 변화 분석을 위해 용존 유기탄소(DOC), 용존 자연유기물질 내 방향족 탄소성분을 나타내는 고유흡광도(Specific UV absorbance: SUVA), synchronous 형광 스펙트럼과 유기탄소결합계수(pyrene organic carbon-normalized binding coefficient: K$_{oc}$) 분석을 실시하였다. 3주간의 배양기간 동안 낙엽 추출 DOM과 토양 DOM의 DOC는 각각 61%, 51% 감소하였다. 배양 전과 후의 분광특성을 비교해 보면 단백질/아미노산 계 형광특징(PLF)은 점차 감소된 반면 SUVA, 펄빅산계 형광 특징(FLF)과 휴믹산 계 형광 특징(HLF)은 점차 증가하였다. 이러한 자연유기물질의 분광특성 변화는 생분해 과정을 통해 휴믹화가 진행되며 자연유기물질 내 비방향족 생분해성 탄소성분이 단단한 구조의 방향족 탄소구조로 변화됨을 시사한다. SUVA 값과 유기오염물질과의 결합정도를 나타내는 K$_{oc}$ 값 사이에서는 시료의 종류와 상관없이 1차 상관관계(r = 0.97)를 보여 주어 생분해가 진행되는 동안 방향족 탄소구조 분포가 자연유기물질의 소수성 오염물질과의 결합 정도에 큰 영향을 미침을 보여주었다. 또한 형광특징 중 FLF와 HLF가 K$_{oc}$ 값과 높은 상관관계를 보였으며 자연유기물질의 기원에 따라 다른 상관관계식을 보여주었다. 본 연구를 통해 생분해가 진행되는 동안 자연유기물질 성분변화 및 소수성 유기오염물질의 거동 예측에 자연유기물질의 분광특성이 좋은 모니터링 지표로 사용될 수 있음을 보여 주었다.

중도절단자료에 대한 수정된 SHAPIRO-WILK 지수 검정 (A Modification of the Shapiro-Wilk Test for Exponentiality Based on Censored Data)

  • 본 논문에서는 Kim (2001a)에서 제안한 지수분포에서의 수정된 Shapiro와 Wilk (1972) $W_E$-통계량을 중도절단자료에 적용하였다. 검정통계량은 Samanta와 Schwarz (1988)에서 $W_E$-통계량을 중도절단자료에 대해 수정한 것과 같은 방법으로 정규화 등간격(normalized spacings)을 이용하여 수정하였다. 그 결과 제안된 통계량은 귀무가설에서 중도절단이 없는 경 우와 같은 분포를 갖고 표본크기만 변하게 된다. 제안된 통계량의 검정력을 Samanta와 Schwarz (1988)의 통계량과 비교한 결과, 중도절단이 없는 경우와 마찬가지로 중도절단이 있는 경우에도 변동계수가 1보다 크거나 같은 대립가설에서 제안된 통계량은 더 좋은 검정력을 나타내었다.
