  • A model used in the past may be altered at will in modeling for the future. For this situation, the multiprocess dynamic model provides a general framework. In this paper we consider the multiprocess discount normal model with parameters having a time dependent non-linear structure. This model has nice properties such as insensitivity to outliers and quick reaction to abrupt changes of pattern.

  • Let (𝓛, 𝒜) be a complete duality pair. We give some equivalent characterizations of Gorenstein (𝓛, 𝒜)-projective modules and construct some model structures associated to duality pairs and Frobenius pairs. Some rings are described by Frobenius pairs. In addition, we investigate special Gorenstein (𝓛, 𝒜)-projective modules and construct some model structures and recollements associated to them.

  • In this paper we prove the following : Let M be a semi-invariant submanifold with almost contact metric structure (${\phi}$, ${\xi}$, g) of codimension 3 in a complex hyperbolic space $H_{n+1}{\mathbb{C}}$. Suppose that the third fundamental form n satisfies $dn=2{\theta}{\omega}$ for a certain scalar ${\theta}({\leq}{\frac{c}{2}})$, where ${\omega}(X,\;Y)=g(X,\;{\phi}Y)$ for any vectors X and Y on M. Then M has constant eigenvalues correponding the shape operator A in the direction of the distinguished normal and the structure vector ${\xi}$ is an eigenvector of A if and only if M is locally congruent to one of the type $A_0$, $A_1$, $A_2$ or B in $H_n{\mathbb{C}}$.

NDRG3-mediated lactate signaling in hypoxia

  • Hypoxia is associated with many pathological conditions as well as the normal physiology of metazoans. We identified a lactate-dependent signaling pathway in hypoxia, mediated by the oxygen- and lactate-regulated protein NDRG family member 3 (NDRG3). Oxygen negatively regulates NDRG3 expression at the protein level via the PHD2/VHL system, whereas lactate, produced in excess under prolonged hypoxia, blocks its proteasomal degradation by binding to NDRG3. We also found that the stabilized NDRG3 protein promotes angiogenesis and cell growth under hypoxia by activating the Raf-ERK pathway. Inhibiting cellular lactate production abolishes NDRG3-mediated hypoxia responses. The NDRG3-Raf-ERK axis therefore provides the genetic basis for lactate-induced hypoxia signaling, which can be exploited for the development of therapies targeting hypoxia-induced diseases in addition to advancing our understanding of the normal physiology of hypoxia responses.   • Let $P(M,G,{\pi})=:P$ be a principal fibre bundle with structure Lie group G over a base manifold M. In this paper we get the following facts: 1. The tangent bundle TG of the structure Lie group G in $P(M,G,{\pi})=:P$ is a Lie group. 2. The Lie algebra ${\mathcal{g}}=T_eG$ is a normal subgroup of the Lie group TG. 3. $TP(TM,TG,{\pi}_*)=:TP$ is a principal fibre bundle with structure Lie group TG and projection ${\pi}_*$ over base manifold TM, where ${\pi}_*$ is the differential map of the projection ${\pi}$ of P onto M. 4. for a Lie group $H,\;TH=H{\circ}T_eH=T_eH{\circ}H=TH$ and $H{\cap}T_eH=\{e\}$, but H is not a normal subgroup of the group TH in general.

Relationship Between the Structure and the Superconductivity in LaFeAsO

  • The electronic structure of LaFeAsO was analyzed by tight-binding band calculation based upon the normal and shrunk lattices. A strong Fermi surface nesting was found in the normal LaFeAsO, while most of the nesting area was disappeared in the shrunk LaFeAsO. It was found, therefore, high pressure atmosphere is required to become a superconductor for LaFeAsO by suppressing the SDW (spin density wave) state through the disappearance of the Fermi surface nesting.

  • Polarized Fourier transform infrared (IR) absorption is used to probe molecular conformation in a ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) during the reorientation induced by the external field. Spectra of planar aligned cells of FLC W314 are measured as functions of IR polarizer orientation and electric field applied to the FLC. The time evolution of the dichroism of the absorbance due to biphenyl core and alkyl tail molecular vibration modes, is observed. Static IR dichroism experiments show a W314 dichroism structure in which the principal axis of dielectric tensor from molecular core vibration are tilted further from the smectic layer normal than those of the tail. This structure indicates the effective binding site in which the molecules are confined in the Sm-C phase has, on average, "zig-zag" shape and this zig-zag binding site structure is rigidly maintained while the molecular axis rotates about the layer normal during field-induced switching.
