Due to the implementation ease and alleviation of memory bottleneck effect, NUMA architecture has dominated in the multiprocessor systems for the past several years. However, because the NUMA system distributes memory in each node, frequent remote memory access is a key factor of performance degradation. Therefore, efficient design of RAC(Remote Access Cache) in NUMA system is critical for performance improvement. In this paper, we suggest Multi-Grain RAC which can adaptively control the RAC line size, with respect to each application behavior Then we simulate NUMA system with multi-grain RAC using MINT, event-driven memory hierarchy simulator. and analyze the performance results. At first, with profile-based determination method, we verify the optimal RAC line size for each application and, then, we compare and analyze the performance differences among NUMA systems with normal RAC, with optimal line size RAC, and with multi-grain RAC. The simulation shows that the worst case can be always avoided and results are very close to optimal case with any combination of application and RAC format.

This study is a part of the high pressure injection system development on the Turbo GDI engine in order to reduce smoke emission in case of using the low volatile(high DI) fuel which is used as normal gasoline fuel in the US market. Firstly, theoretical approach was done regarding gasoline fuel property, performance, definition of particle matters and its creation as well as problems of the high DI fuel. In this experimental study, 2L Turbo GDI engine was selected and optimized system parameter was inspected by changing fuel, fuel injection mode (single/multiple), fuel pressure, distance between injector tip and combustion chamber, start of injection, intake valve timing in engine dyno at all engine speed range with full load. In case of normal gasoline fuel, opacity was contained within 2% in all conditions. On the other hands, in case of low volatile fuel (high DI fuel), it was confirmed that the opacity was rapidly increased above 5,000 rpm at 14.5 ~ 20 MPa of fuel pressure and there were almost no differences on the opacity(smoke) between 17 MPa and 20 MPa fuel pressure. According to the SOI retard, smoke decrease tendency was observed but intake valve close timing change has almost no impact on the smoke level in this area. Consequently, smoke decrease was observed and 16% at 6000rpm respectively with injector washer ring installed. By removing injector washer to make injector tip closer to the combustion chamber, smoke decrease was observed by 46% at 5,500 rpm, 42% at 6,000 rpm. It is assumed that the fuel injection interaction with cylinder head, piston head, intake and exhaust valve is reduced so that impingement is reduced in local area.

Purpose: The goal of palatoplasty is focused on two points. One is to close the palatal defect completely, and the other to create a velopharyngeal system for normal speech. While established methods such as pushback palatoplasty or double opposing Z palatoplasty are used in wide cleft palate repair, sequelae such as maxillary hypoplasia or oronasal fistula may result. Therefore, when palatoplasty with buccinator myomucosal flap is used in the case of wide cleft palates, maxillary hypoplasia and oronasal fistula is reduced and optimal results are obtained. Methods: From October 2005 to December 2006, four children with wide complete cleft palate underwent unilateral buccinator myomucosal flap and intravelar veloplaty. Mean age at cleft repair was 15 months, and mean cleft size was 2.15 cm. The patients underwent intravelar veloplasty and palatoplasty was done using unilateral buccinator myomucosal flap. Results: The patients, after mean 10 months of follow-up observation, showed no signs of oronasal fistula resulting from flap tension. The shape and color similar to normal oral mucosa was obtained, and velopharyngeal function was acquired. Conclusion: When intravelar veloplasty and palatoplasty with unilateral buccinator myomucosal flap is done on wide cleft palates, postoperative speech function is optimal, velopharyngeal incompetence is effectively corrected, and sequelae resulting from pushback palatoplasty and double opposing Z-plasty, such as maxillary hypoplasia and oronasal fistula, is reduced.

In this theses, the procedure for finding the equivalent immittance of an n-line coupled structures is presented in terms of the normal mode parameters of the n-line coupled system. The above generalized equations can be applied to the various Coupled structures including directional couplers, DC blocks, bandpass/band elimination filters, and various other uniformly coupled filters. The design equations are based on a simplified TEM(Quasi TEM) mode. The obtained results and the definition of the scattering parameters for a general coupled line four port with arbitrary terminations are used to present the procedure to determine the optimum physical dimensions matching the given load impedances connected to input, output port. Multiple coupled rnicrostrip two-port with three lines circuit designed shows little discrepancy between the conventional method and this one. Four port with five lines were fabricated on teflon substrate($e$r=2.55) with its thickness h=l.588mm designed at the center frequency, 4 GHz. Their measured results are fairly close to the ones by computation.

The inverters used to drive Brushless DC motors (BLDC) include switching devices such as FETs and the faults in FETs cause severe performance degradation in systems where a BLDC acts as actuator. This paper presents a fault detection and isolation method for the FETs of an inverter for BLDC motor control systems, which is based on the EKF (Extended Kalman filter). Firstly, an equivalent circuit model for a BLDC motor plus its inverter system was derived. Secondly, a state-space equation was established, where the on-resistance of the FETs is expressed as a state variable and the EKF equation estimates the on-resistance. If the estimated resistance differs greatly from the known value, it can be asserted that there is a fault on that FET. Thirdly, the local convergence of the established EKF was proved. Finally, through the experiments, the performance of the proposed method was verified. The results show that the on-resistance is estimated close to the value specified in the FET data sheet in normal operation, whereas the estimated resistance is a much larger value than the normal one in case an FET fault occurs. Therefore, it is confirmed that the proposed fault detection and isolation method works appropriately in real systems.

According to the classification of dental arch form and the analysis of patterns of chewing movement, the patterns of chewing movement in each group were evaluated and compared with those of the normal group. Results were summarized as follows ; 1. Opening phase in chewing movement In the group which the maxillary second molar positionsbuccal side, the chewing patterns which have the Vertical Guide Openings in frontal plane, the Posterior Guide Openings in hjorizontal plane were observed. In the group which the maxillary premolars position lingual side, the chewing paterns which have the Protrusive Shift Openings in horizontal plane and sagittal plane were observed. 2. Closing phase in chewing movement. In each group except for the normal group, the chewing patterns which have the Concave Closure in frontal plane and in Horizontal plane were observed. In the group which the maxillary premolars position buccal side, the chewing patterns which have the Lateral Guide Closure in frontal plane and in horizontal plane, the Vertical Guide Closre in sagittal plane were observed: From the results, as the characteristics of the dental arch form have appeared in chewing movement, the close relationships were found between dental arch form and chewing movement. It is suggested that the evaluation of dental arch form is effective in the diagnosis of function of stomatognathic system.

Background: This study compared nutritional parameters in hemodialysis (HD) subjects and controls using bioimpedance analysis (BIA) and investigated how BIA components changed before and after HD. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 147 subjects on maintenance HD from two hospitals and 298 propensity score-matched controls from one healthcare center. BIA was performed pre- and post-HD at mid-week dialysis sessions. Results: Extracellular water/total body water (ECW/TBW) and waist-hip ratio were higher in the HD patients; the other variables were higher in the control group. The cardiothoracic ratio correlated best with overhydration (r = 0.425, P < 0.01) in HD subjects. Blood pressure, hemoglobin, creatinine, and uric acid positively correlated with the lean tissue index in controls; however, most of these nutritional markers did not show significant correlations in HD subjects. Normal hydrated weight was predicted to be higher in the pre-HD than post-HD measurements. Predicted ultrafiltration (UF) volume difference based on pre- and post-HD ECW/TBW and measured UF volume difference showed a close correlation ($r^2=0.924$, P < 0.01). Remarkably, the leg phase angle increased in the post-HD period. Conclusion: The estimated normal hydrated weight using ECW/TBW can be a good marker for determining dry weight. HD subjects had higher ECW/TBW but most nutritional indices were inferior to those of controls. It was possible to predict UF volume differences using BIA, but the post-HD increase in leg phase angle, a nutritional marker, must be interpreted with caution.
Purpose: This study was conducted to classify the energy efficiency of 131 tractor models tested during from 2006 to 2010 in Korea. Methods: Four sub-indexes were developed using the fuel consumptions at 60% and 90% of rated speed with partial loads and at pull speeds of 3.0 km/h and 7.5 km/h with maximum drawbar pull. Weighting factors of the sub-indexes were also considered to reflect the characteristics of tractor's actual working hours in Korea. Four sub-indexes were integrated into a classification index. Using the developed classification index, a five-classification system was made on the basis of normal distribution of tractors over the classification range. Percentage of $1^{st}$ grade interval was expected to be close to 15%, $2^{nd}$ grade 20%, $3^{rd}$ grade 30%, $4^{th}$ grade 20%, $5^{th}$ grade 15%. Results: Number of $1^{st}$ grade was 21, $2^{nd}$ grade 23, $3^{rd}$ grade 39, $4^{th}$ grade 33, $5^{th}$ grade 15 among 131 models. Conclusions: Classification index was developed by integrating four sub-indexes. By the classification method using developed index, distribution of classified tractors was acceptable for practical application.
This paper proposes an adaptive technique for the cardiac output regulation of a pendulum type electromechanical TAH. This techinque, which consists of two RLSE's and two PASTC' 5, performs Its controllability over the TAIB so that the m(RAP) and m(LAP) values re- main close to their desired values under she assumption that the variation of m(RAP) and m (LAP) are dominated by the variation of C.0. and the difference between the left and right ventricular output, respectively. To evaluate the performance of the proposed control system, a simulation is performed by using a human model which contains physiologic, drug and treatment, artificial heart and noise models. As a result, dual adaptive controller showed that abnormal m(LAP) and m(RAP) could be recovered to the normal range within 10minute and maintained desired value in steady state. The operation of this controller prored to be robust in spite of the rapid variation of human status.
The main objective of this study is to provide an effective algorithm of the transmitted solar radiation calculation through window glazing on a clear day. This algorithm would be used in developing a computer program for fenestration system analysis and shading device design. Various simulation methods have been evaluated to figure out the most accurate and effective procedure in estimation of transmitted solar radiation on a tilted surface on a clear day. Characteristics of simulated results of each step have been scrutinized by comparing them with measured results of the site as well as results from other simulation programs. Generally, the Duffie & Beckman's solar calculation method introducing the HDKR anisotropic model provided the most reliable simulation results. The DOE-2 program usually provided over-estimated simulation results. The estimation of extraterrestrial solar radiation and beam normal radiation were conducted pretty accurately. However, the solar radiation either on horizontal surface or on tilted surface involves complicated factors in estimation. Even though the estimation results were close to the real measured data during summer when solar intensity is getting higher, the estimation provided more error when solar intensities were getting weaker. The convex polygon clipping algorithm with homogeneous coordinates was fastest model in calculation of sunlight to shaded area ratio. It could not be applied because of its shape limitation.
