For the first time, nonlocal damped vibration and buckling analyses of arbitrary tapered bidirectional functionally graded solid circular nano-plate (BDFGSCNP) are presented by employing modified spectral Ritz method. The energy method based on Love-Kirchhoff plate theory assumptions is applied to derive neutral equilibrium equation. The Eringen's nonlocal continuum theory is taken into account to capture small-scale effects. The characteristic equations and corresponding first mode shapes are calculated by using a novel modified basis in spectral Ritz method. The modified basis is in terms of orthogonal shifted Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind to avoid employing adhesive functions in the spectral Ritz method. The fast convergence and compatibility with various conditions are advantages of the modified spectral Ritz method. A more accurate multivariable function is used to model two-directional variations of elasticity modulus and mass density. The effects of nanoscale, in-plane pre-load, distributed dashpot, arbitrary tapering, pinned and clamped boundary conditions on natural frequencies and buckling loads are investigated. Observing an excellent agreement between results of current work and outcomes of previously published works in literature, indicates the results' accuracy in current work.
In this study, the influences of triaxial magnetic field on the wave propagation behavior of anisotropic nanoplates are studied. In order to include small scale effects, nonlocal strain gradient theory has been implemented. To study the nanoplate as a continuum model, the three-dimensional elasticity theory is adopted in Cartesian coordinate. In our study, all the elastic constants are considered and assumed to be the functions of (x, y, z), so all kind of anisotropic structures such as hexagonal and trigonal materials can be modeled, too. Moreover, all types of functionally graded structures can be investigated. eigenvalue method is employed and analytical solutions for the wave propagation are obtained. To justify our methodology, our results for the wave propagation of isotropic nanoplates are compared with the results available in the literature and great agreement is achieved. Five different types of anisotropic structures are investigated in present paper and then the influences of wave number, material properties, nonlocal and gradient parameter and uniaxial, biaxial and triaxial magnetic field on the wave propagation analysis of anisotropic nanoplates are presented. From the best knowledge of authors, it is the first time that three-dimensional elasticity theory and nonlocal strain gradient theory are used together with no approximation to derive the governing equations. Moreover, up to now, the effects of triaxial magnetic field have not been studied with considering size effects in nanoplates. According to the lack of any common approximations in the displacement field or in elastic constant, present theory has the potential to be used as a bench mark for future works.
In this study, the thermal loading effect on free vibration characteristics of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with multiple cracks is studied. Various boundary conditions for nanotube are taken in to account. In order to take the small scale effect, the nonlocal elasticity of Eringen is employed in the framework of Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. This theory states that the stress at a reference point is a function of strains at all points in the continuum. A cracked nanotube is assumed to be consisted of two segments that are connected by a rotational spring which is located in the position of the cracked section. Hamilton's principle is used to achieve the governing equations. Influences of the nonlocal parameter, crack severity, temperature change and the number of cracks on the system frequencies are investigated. Also, it is found that at room or lower temperature the natural frequency for CNT decreases as the value of temperature change increases, while at temperature higher than room temperature the natural frequency of CNT increases as the value of temperature change increases. Various boundary conditions have been applied to the nanotube.

This research deals with the study of the orthotropic vibrational features of single-walled carbon nanotubes according to Kelvin's model and to check the accuracy of the models, the results have been compared with earlier modeling/simulations. Obtaining rough approximations of the natural frequencies of CNTs using continuum equations are still a common procedure, even at high harmonics. The effects of different physical and material parameters on the fundamental frequencies are investigated for zigzag and chiral single-walled carbon nanotubes invoking Kelvin's theory. By using nonlocal Kelvin's model, the fundamental natural frequency spectra for two forms of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) have been calculated. The influence of frequencies with nonlocal parameters and bending rigidity are investigated in detail for these tubes. Computer software MATLAB is utilized for the frequencies of SWCNTs and current results shows a good stability with comparison of other studies.
Calculating size-dependent mechanical properties of the nano-scale materials usually involves cumbersome numerical and theoretical works. In this paper, we aim to present a closed-form relation to calculate the length-dependent Young's modulus of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) based on nonlocal elasticity theory. In this regard, a single wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) is considered as a rod structure and the governing nonlocal equations are developed under uniaxial tensile load. The equations are solved using analytical methods and strain distribution, total displacement and the size-dependent equivalent Young's modulus are obtained. Further, the results are compared with the molecular dynamics results from the literature. The outcome indicates that the calculated relations are coincident with the molecular dynamics results.

In this study, the mechanical bending behaviors of functionally graded porous nanobeams are investigated. Four types of porosity which are, the classical power porosity function, the symmetric with mid-plane cosine function, bottom surface distribution and top surface distribution are proposed in analysis of nanobeam for the first time. A comparison between four types of porosity are illustrated. The effect of nano-scale is described by the differential nonlocal continuum theory of Eringen by adding the length scale into the constitutive equations as a material parameter comprising information about nanoscopic forces and its interactions. The graded material is designated by a power function through the thickness of nanobeam. The beam is simply-supported and is assumed to be thin, and hence, the kinematic assumptions of Euler-Bernoulli beam theory are held. The mathematical model is solved numerically using the finite element method. Numerical results show effects of porosity type, material graduation, and nanoscale parameters on the static deflection of nanobeam.
Physical activities enhance blood flow in the vessels, which may increase the quality of medicine delivery. The emergence of revolutionary technologies such as nanoscience, made it possible to treat the incurable illnesses such as cancer. This paper investigates the impact of sport and physical exercises on the quality and quantity of the drug-delivery based on the mathematical modeling of a nanomotor made by nanotubes carrying the nano-drug capsules. Accordingly, the mathematical equations of rotating nanomotor are generated by considering the both of higher-order beam model and nonlocal strain gradient model, as a comprehensive continuum theory. Next, through the generalized differential quadrature together with Newmark-beta methods, the differential relations are discretized and solved. Finally, the impact of varied parameters on the dynamical behavior of the nanomotor is examined in detail. The outcomes of this investigation can be useful to achieve an excellent design of nanomotors carrying nano-drugs.
Prediction of the characteristics of both in-plane and out-of-plane elastic waves within conducting nanoplates in the presence of bidirectionally in-plane magnetic fields is of interest. Using Lorentz's formulas and nonlocal continuum theory of Eringen, the nonlocal elastic version of the equations of motion is obtained. The frequencies as well as the corresponding phase and group velocities pertinent to the in-plane and out-of-plane waves are analytically evaluated. The roles of the strength of in-plane magnetic field, wavenumber, wave direction, nanoplate's thickness, and small-scale parameter on characteristics of waves are discussed. The obtained results show that the in-plane frequencies commonly grow with the in-plane magnetic field. However, the transmissibility of the out-of-plane waves rigorously depends on the magnetic field strength, direction of the propagated transverse waves, small-scale parameter, and thickness of the nanoplate. The criterion for safe transferring of the out-of-plane waves through the conducting nanoplate immersed in a bidirectional magnetic field is also explained and discussed.

In this work, an analytical model employing a new higher-order shear deformation beam theory is utilized to investigate the bending behavior of axially randomly oriented functionally graded carbon nanotubes reinforced composite nanobeams. A modified continuum nonlocal strain gradient theory is employed to incorporate both microstructural effects and geometric nano-scale length scales. The extended rule of mixture, along with molecular dynamics simulations, is used to assess the equivalent mechanical properties of functionally graded carbon nanotubes reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) beams. Carbon nanotube reinforcements are randomly distributed axially along the length of the beam. The equilibrium equations, accompanied by nonclassical boundary conditions, are formulated, and Navier's procedure is used to solve the resulting differential equation, yielding the response of the nanobeam under various mechanical loadings, including uniform, linear, and sinusoidal loads. Numerical analysis is conducted to examine the influence of inhomogeneity parameters, geometric parameters, types of loading, as well as nonlocal and length scale parameters on the deflections and stresses of axially functionally graded carbon nanotubes reinforced composite (AFG CNTRC) nanobeams. The results indicate that, in contrast to the nonlocal parameter, the beam stiffness is increased by both the CNTs volume fraction and the length-scale parameter. The presented model is applicable for designing and analyzing microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) constructed from carbon nanotubes reinforced composite nanobeams.
This paper investigates the free and forced longitudinal vibration of a double nanorod system using doublet mechanics theory. The doublet mechanics theory is a multiscale theory spanning between lattice dynamics and continuum mechanics. Equations of motion and boundary conditions for the double nanorod system are obtained using Hamilton's principle. Clamped-clamped and clamped-free boundary conditions are considered. Frequencies and dynamic displacements are determined to demonstrate the effects of length scale parameter of considered material and geometry of the nanorods. It is shown that frequencies obtained by the doublet mechanics theory are bounded from above (van Hove singularity) and unlike classical elasticity theory doublet mechanics theory predicts finite number of modes depending on the length of the nanotube. The present doublet mechanics results have been compared to molecular dynamics, experimental and nonlocal theory results and good agreement is observed between the present and other mentioned results. The difference between wave frequencies of graphite is less than 10% between doublet mechanics and experimental results near to the end of the first Brillouin zone.
