Recently seismic fragility analysis method has been widely used for the seismic probabilistic risk assessment of infrastructures such as nuclear power plants, buildings and bridges because of its probabilistic characteristics. Furthermore, this technique has been applied to large-scale social systems consisted of each infrastructures by combing GIS. In this paper, the applicability of this technique to domestic infrastructural systems was studied. The transportation network was selected as one of these domestic infrastructural systems. Example studies were peformed about Changwon city. Nonlinear time history analysis, with a maximal likelihood approach were conducted to establish the fragility curves of each infrastrucures (bridges). GIS analysis was also applied to the analysis of whole infrastructural systems. The results show that it is very useful to predict seismic probabilistic risk assessment of this domestic transportation network. However, it also shows that further studies such as more suitable damage criterion to domestic structure and precise nonlinear analysis techniques should be developed to predict more precise results.
In this article the seismic demand and performance of two recent braced steel frames named steel moment frames with the elliptic bracing (ELBRFs) are assessed through a laboratory program and numerical analyses of FEM. Here, one of the specimens is without connecting bracket from the corner of the frame to the elliptic brace (ELBRF-E), while the other is with the connecting brackets (ELBRF-B). In both the elliptic braced moment resisting frames (ELBRFs), in addition to not having any opening space problem in the bracing systems when installed in the surrounding frames, they improve structure's behavior. The experimental test is run on ½ scale single-story single-bay ELBRF specimens under cyclic quasi-static loading and compared with X-bracing and SMRF systems in one story base model. This system is of appropriate stiffness and a high ductility, with an increased response modification factor. Moreover, its energy dissipation is high. In the ELBRF bracing systems, there exists a great interval between relative deformation at the yield point and maximum relative deformation after entering the plastic region. In other words, the distance from the first plastic hinge to the collapse of the structure is fairly large. The experimental outcomes here, are in good agreement with the theoretical predictions.

Recently the fuzzy control is widely used as a tool for constructing automatic control systems which can replace the manual operation of large-scale nonlinear plants. In most applications of the fuzzy control however it is hard to meet the requirement of the operation time. In some real-time control the fuzzy control scheme requires too much computing time for fuzzification inference and defuzzification. To reduce the computing time there may be two alternatives the development of a new operation algorithm and the design of high-speed fuzzy hardware. In this paper to solve the problem of reducing the fuzzy operation time we propose a new high-speed fuzzy hardware scheme which has merits of its generality and extensibility. Finally we verify the proposed fuzzy hardware.
This paper presents a Case-Sort method to solve the unit commitment problem using database in electric power systems. The formulation of the unit commitment nay be described as nonlinear mixed integer programming. However, it is hard to optimize a problem with discrete and continuous variables in a large-scale system at the same time. The Case-Sort method is based on the unit[MW]generation cost considered drive hour. Then, this paper shows effectiveness and economical efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

Decentralized Dynamic Surface Control(DDSC) for a class of nonlinear system interconnected via sensor network is presented in this paper. While a centralized design approach of DSC was developed in [1], the decentralized approach to deal with complex large-scale systems is proposed under the assumption that interconnected functions among subsystems are known via sensor network. As shown in [2], the separation principle for DDSC will allow us to design an estimation filter independently. Furthermore, the theoretical results are used to design and simulate an active vibration isolator under the assumption that many embedded sensors are distributed and communicate each other via wireless communication.

In the recent decade, practical of wavelet technique is being utilized in various domain of science. Particularly, engineers are interested to the wavelet solution method in the time series analysis. Fundamentally, seismic responses of structures against time history loading such as an earthquake, illustrates optimum capability of systems. In this paper, a procedure using particularly discrete Haar wavelet basis functions is introduced, to solve dynamic equation of motion. In the proposed approach, a straightforward formulation in a fluent manner is derived from the approximation of the displacements. For this purpose, Haar operational matrix is derived and applied in the dynamic analysis. It's free-scaled matrix converts differential equation of motion to the algebraic equations. It is shown that accuracy of dynamic responses relies on, access of load in the first step, before piecewise analysis added to the technique of equation solver in the last step for large scale of wavelet. To demonstrate the effectiveness of this scheme, improved formulations are extended to the linear and nonlinear structural dynamic analysis. The validity and effectiveness of the developed method is verified with three examples. The results were compared with those from the numerical methods such as Duhamel integration, Runge-Kutta and Wilson-${\theta}$ method.
Retention of possible churning customer is one of the most important issues in customer relationship management, so companies try to predict churn customers using their large-scale high-dimensional data. This study focuses on dealing with large data sets by reducing the dimensionality. By using six different dimension reduction methods-Principal Component Analysis (PCA), factor analysis (FA), locally linear embedding (LLE), local tangent space alignment (LTSA), locally preserving projections (LPP), and deep auto-encoder-our experiments apply each dimension reduction method to the training data, build a classification model using the mapped data and then measure the performance using hit rate to compare the dimension reduction methods. In the result, PCA shows good performance despite its simplicity, and the deep auto-encoder gives the best overall performance. These results can be explained by the characteristics of the churn prediction data that is highly correlated and overlapped over the classes. We also proposed a simple out-of-sample extension method for the nonlinear dimension reduction methods, LLE and LTSA, utilizing the characteristic of the data.

The basic systems of spatial structures such as shells, membrane, cable-nets and tensegrity structure have been developed to create the large spaces without column. These structures may have large freedom in scale and form, and especially tensegrity structures are received much attention from the view points of their light weight and aesthetics. But There re some difficulties concerning structural stability, surface formation and construction method. One of the way to solve these problems reasonably is a combination of tensile members and rigid members. A structural system based on this concept is referred to as the "HTS ( Hybrid Tension Structure )". This is a type of flexible structural system which is unstable initially, because the cable material has little initial rigidity. As cable - dome hybrid structures is a type of HTS, the initial stress for the self- equilibrated system having stable state have to be introduced. To determine initial stress having stable state, the shape finding analysis is required before the stress - deformation analysis. In this paper, the primary objective is to derive the nonlinear finite element formula of cable and truss members considering geometric nonlinearity for shape finding of cable-dome, and to propose the method to decide the initial stress by the shape analysis of cable-dome hybrid structure with the self-equilibrated state.
Since large and small scale photovoltaic(PV) systems have been commercialized in many countries, it is necessary to assess the effects of PV systems on the electric power system. For this, the development of accurate simulation model of PV arrays is very important. PSCAD/EMTDC, a widely used simulation tool for analyzing the transient behavior of electrical apparatus and networks, does not have a standard model of a PV array. Therefore in order to simulate the PV array, users have to develop their own simulation model. However, the block-diagram-based model is very complicated, and it is hard to modify the model parameters. In this study, we develop the user-defined model of a PV array by using the Design Editor, which is provided by PSCAD program. The mathematical model of a PV array and the method to determine the parameters of nonlinear I-V equation are implemented in a Fortran code. The graphical user interface provides the users with easy and simple way to modify the PV array parameters and simulation conditions. In order to help the users, this model also provides the parameters of 10 commercial PV arrays.
