The analysis and design of complex structures like sandwich-panel elements are difficult; the use of finite element method for the analysis is complicated and time consuming when non-linear effects are considered. On the other hand, artificial neural network (ANN) models can capture the non-linear effects and its application requires lesser computational demand. Two ANN models were trained, tested and validated to compute the force for a given displacement of a sandwich-type roof element; 2555 force and element deformation pairs were used for training the ANN models. For the models trained without considering the damping effect, there were two values in the input layer: maximum displacement and current displacement, and for the model considering damping, displacement from the previous step was used as an additional input. Totally, 400 ANN models were trained. Results show that there is a good agreement between the experimental and simulated data, and the models showed a good performance with a mean square error value of 4548.85. Both the ANN models could simulate the inelastic behaviour, loss of rigidity, and evolution of permanent displacements. The models could also interpolate and extrapolate, which enables them to be used as an analysis and design tool for such complex elements.

The purpose of this study is to examine the possibility of science education using Korean TSK(Traditional scientific knowledge). In this study, we have developed five Korean TSK units including science concepts, historical knowledge and cultural experience and applied them to 10th graders. The five units are as follows: (1) Calendars(western and eastern), (2) Our traditional sundial, Angbuilgu, (3) A great scientist in the King Sejong Era, (4) Data interpretation of ancient record of natural phenomenon in Korea, and (5) Gyeongbokgung Palace. The analyses included a pre- and post test of students' perception, classroom observation, students' activity sheets, and interview. The results show that the students' perception of Korean TSK has changed toward recognizing the value of Korean TSK as a kind of natural science. They expressed their expectation of Korean TSK in scientific, practical, and emotional perspectives, wherein some students thought the practical and emotional perspectives of Korean TSK as non-scientific characteristics. Students showed five types of worldview about the relationship between Korean TSK and WMS(western modern science). Most students favored and cherished the Korean TSK but at the same time, they were confused about its scientific value. The results support the rethinking of the meaning of science and what students learn in school. We should consider how we teach the Korean TSK to students. It is important that a profound research of the Korean TSK should be continued to make our science education varied.
Objectives : The aim was to investigate the characteristics of low dose effect and non monotonic dose responses(NMDRs) and to predict the influence it might have on the health and medicine, traditional Korean medicine. Methods : By investigating recently published major literatures related to low dose effect and NMDRs, the definition, mechanism, major related fields, and the influence on public health and medicine has been categorized and summarized. Results : Although there are still heated debates about the definition of low dose, it implies the biological responses in environmental exposure level and the NDMDRs means the nonlinear relationship between the dose-response in the slope sign change. Also, it implies the new form of the curve showing a U, reverse U shape, and the slop sign constantly changing showing various forms. This mechanism is because the two acceptor shows opposing effects to toxic materials and the affinity is different along with the numerical value that increase and decrease being different. These characteristics generally appear in endocrine disrupters such as bisphenol A, agricultural pesticides, metal, and radiation. The research field in the public health and medical treatment is obesity, problems in metabolism, growth hormone treatment, climacteric treatment, breast cancer, intake of Korean traditional medicine for pregnancy, menopause and phytoestrogen. Conclusions : As a result of discussing implications, NMDRs is a particular effect in low dose and heated debates surround this response, research is being conducted surrounding the field of obesity, problems in metabolism, growth hormone treatment, climacteric treatment, breast cancer, intake of Korean traditional medicine for pregnancy, menopause, and phytoestrogen. More research and interest in needed as it can have a massive influence in the public health and medicine.
Most traditional garbage collectors commonly use the language level metadata, which is designed for pointer type searching. However, because it is difficult to use this metadata in non-volatile memory allocation platforms, a new garbage collection technique is essential for non-volatile memory utilization. In this paper, we design new metadata for managing information regarding non-volatile memory allocation called "Allocation Tree". This metadata is comprised of tree data structure for fast information lookup and a node that holds an allocation address and an object ID pair in key-value form. The Garbage Collector starts collecting when there are insufficient non-volatile memory spaces, and it compares user data and the allocation tree for garbage detection. We develop this algorithm in a persistent heap based non-volatile memory allocation platform called "HEAPO" for demonstration.
Shinuncho(Angelica keiskei koidz)sulgi is a kind of steamed rice cake by an earthenware steamer. I made Shinuncho-sulgi samples with different amounts of Angelica keiskei koidz - powder and different types of sugars (sugar or honey). The more Angelica keiskei koidz powder it has the bitter it tastes but the lower sweetness, moistness and chewiness it has. Samples with honey have higher sweetness, moistness and chewiness but lower bitterness and after-swallowing than ones with sugar. Color is Shinsuncho-sulgi with $3\%$ of Angelica keiskei koidz - powder and honey has been judged to have the best quality. Flavor and Overall-acceptability are Shinsuncho-sulgi with $2\%$ of Amge;oca keiskei koidz - powder and honey has been judged to have the best quality. The more Angelica keiskei koidz powder it has the higher hardness but the significantly cohesiveness, springiness, gumminess, and chewiness it has. Samples with honey have higher hardness, springiness, cohesiveness, gumminess and chewiness, but lower adhesiveness, than ones with sugar. The moisture content of Shinsuncho-sulgi is $35.89\~37.08\%$. Samples with honey have higher b-value but lower L-value and a-value than ones with sugar. Based on the results of the study, the best ratio of ingredients is as follow non-glutinous flour 196g, Angelica keiskei koidz powder $2\%$ (4g), honey 35ml, salt 2g, water 20ml and $37.08\%$ of moisture content.

This paper suggests techniques to reduce coding time which is a problem in traditional fractal compression and to improve fidelity of reconstructed images by determining fractal coefficient through adaptive selection of block approximation formula. First, to reduce coding time, we construct a linear list of domain blocks of which characteristics is given by their luminance and variance and then we control block searching time according to the first permissible threshold value. Next, when employing three-level block partition, if a range block of minimum partition level cannot find a domain block which has a satisfying approximation error, we choose new approximation coefficients using a non-linear approximation of luminance term. This boosts the fidelity. Our experiment employing the above methods shows enhancement in the coding time more than two times over traditional coding methods and shows improvement in PSNR value by about 1-3dB at the same com- pression rate.

Background: The serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level can reflect tumor growth, recurrence and metastasis. It has been reported that epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations in exons 19 and 21may have an important relationship with tumor cell sensitivity to EGFR-TKI therapy. In this study, we investigated the clinical value of EGFR mutations and serum CEA in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Materials and Methods: The presence of mutations in EGFR exons 19 and 21 in the tissue samples of 315 patients with NSCLC was detected with real-time fluorescent PCR technology, while the serum CEA level in cases who had not yet undergone surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and targeted therapy were assessed by electrochemical luminescence. Results: The mutation rates in EGFR exons 19 and 21 were 23.2% and 14.9%, respectively, with the two combined in 3.81%. Measured prior to the start of surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and targeted treatment, serum CEA levels were abnormally high in 54.3% of the patients. In those with a serum CEA level <5 ng/mL, the EGFR mutation rate was 18.8%, while with 5~19 ng/mL and ${\geq}20ng/mL$, the rates were 36.4% and 62.5%. In addition, in the cohort of patients with the CEA level being 20~49 ng/mL, the EGFR mutation rate was 85.7%, while in those with the CEA level ${\geq}50ng/mL$, the EGFR mutation rate was only 20.0%, approximately the same as in cases with the CEA level<5 ng/mL. Conclusions: There is a positive correlation between serum CEA expression level and EGFR mutation status in NSCLC patients, namely the EGFR mutation-positive rate increases as the serum CEA expression level rises within a certain range (${\geq}20ng/mL$, especially 20~49 ng/mL). If patient samples are not suitable for EGFR mutation testing, or cannot be obtained at all, testing serum CEA levels might be a simple and easy screening method. Hence, for the NSCLC patients with high serum CEA level (${\geq}20ng/mL$, especially 20~49 ng/mL), it is worthy of attempting EGFR-TKI treatment, which may achieve better clinical efficacy and quality of life.
The unbalance between system ergodic sum rate and high fairness is one of the key issues affecting the performance of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system. To solve the problem, this paper proposes a power allocation algorithm to realize the ergodic sum rate maximization of NOMA system. The scheme is mainly achieved by the construction algorithm of fair model based on α fair utility function and the optimal solution algorithm based on the interior point method of penalty function. Aiming at the construction of fair model, the fair target is added to the traditional power allocation model to set the reasonable target function. Simultaneously, the problem of ergodic sum rate and fairness in power allocation is weighed by adjusting the value of α. Aiming at the optimal solution algorithm, the interior point method of penalty function is used to transform the fair objective function with unequal constraints into the unconstrained problem in the feasible domain. Then the optimal solution of the original constrained optimization problem is gradually approximated within the feasible domain. The simulation results show that, compared with NOMA and time division multiple address (TDMA) schemes, the proposed method has larger ergodic sum rate and lower Fairness Index (FI) values.

Recent demands from construction industry have emphasized the capability for graduates to have improved skills both technical and non-technical such as problem solving, interpersonal communication. To satisfy these demands, problem-based learning that is an instructional method characterized by the use of real world problem has been adopted and has proven its effectiveness various disciplines. However, in spite of the importance of field senses and dealing with real problem, construction engineering education has generally focused on traditional lecture-oriented course. In order to improve limitations of current construction education and to satisfy recent demands from construction industry, this paper proposes a new educational approach that is Failure-Based Learning for using combination of the procedural characteristics of the problem-based learning theory in construction technology education utilizing failure information that has the educational value in the construction area by reinterpreting characteristics of construction industry and construction failure information. The major results of this study are summarized as follows. 1) Educational effect of problem-based learning methodology and limitation of application in construction area 2) The educational value of the information on construction failure and limitation in application of the information in construction sector 3) Anticipated effect from application of the failure-based learning 4) Development and application of the failure-based learning conceptual model.
