Sandwich panel made by foamed styrene and ployuretane has been used generally in the construction area because of the high thermal conductivity and light weight but they occur harmful gases to both bodies and environments in the high temperature over $50^{\circ}C$. So, the purpose of this study is to investigate the physical properties of light-weight panel using the non-structural lightweight aggregate as a part of the substitution of foamed styrene and ployuretane. This paper dealt with the effect of the addition of polymer dispersion such as SBR, St/BA-1 and St/BA-2 having polymer-cement ratio as 5, 10, 15% and the filling ratio of continuous void as 50, 60% on the strength of polymer-modified sandwich panel core. From the results, we could know that the compressive and flexural strength of the sandwich panel core using non-structural lightweight aggregate and polymer dispersion such as SBR, St/BA-1 and St/BA-2 tended to be increased with an increase in the polymer-cement ratio and the filling ratio of continuous void.

The purpose of this study is to manufacture sintered lightweight aggregate for non-structural concrete using sewage sludge, organic waste matter is produced to a sewage treatment plant. It is tested for basic property and strength of artificial aggregate according to addition ratio of sewage sludge, and the results are compared with imported aggregate from Spain. As the results of experiment, the manufactured lightweight aggregate could be used for non-structural concrete. Also, it was favorably comparable to those of the imported aggregate. When it is manufactured with aggregate, it is safe environmentally because of protecting elution of harmful heavy metals.

In this paper, the refined plastic-hinge analysis accounting for the effect of strain reversal caused by non-proportional loading is developed. This analysis accounts for material and geometric nonlinearities of the structural system and its component members. Moreover, the problem, conventional refined plastic-hinge analyses have underestimated the strength of structures subjected to non-proportional loading, is overcome. The modified stiffness degradation model approximating the effect of strain reversal is discussed in detail. The proposed analysis is verified by the comparison of the finite element analysis. A case study shows that the effect of strain reversal is a very crucial element to be considered in second-order plastic-hinge analysis. The proposed analysis is shown to be an efficient, reliable tool ready to be implemented into design practice.

General1y, H-section is used for columns and beams in the middle and low steel building, But it has a strong and weak axis. Thus if H-section is used for columns, the structure needs reinforcement on the weak axis. Therefore recently, square holler section(S.H.S) is used for columns because it is able to coiler the vulnerability of H-section. Structural analysis is usually executed under the assumption that connections are either ideally pinned joint or fully rigid joint. Actually all connections are semi-rigid which possess a rotational stiffness. Therefore it can be designed economically as using the property of connections which has a rotational stiffness. This paper presents a prediction model curve which is fitted Kishi-Chen power Model about the behavior of connection between H-beam and S.H.S column. Non-linear analysis program was considered the non-linearity of semi-rigid connection and the geometrical non-linearity under the effect of axial force. It was programed by FORTRAN90 and Visual Basic.

Generally, H-section is used for columns and beams in the middle and low building steel structure, But it has a axis and a weak axis. Thus if H-section is used for columns, the structure needs reinforcement on the weak axis. Therefore recently, square hollow section(S.H.S) is used for columns because it is able to cover the vulnerability of H-section. Structural analysis is usually executed under the assumption that connections are either ideally pinned joint or fully joint. Actually all connections are semi-rigid which possess a rotational stiffness. Therefore it can be designed economically as using the property of connections which has a rotational stiffness. This paper presents a prediction model curve which is fitted with Kishi-Chen Power Model about the behavior of connection between H-beam and S.H.S column in the previous experimental paper. It also suggests the new analysis algorithm considering the non-linear of semi-rigid connection and the geometrical non-linear under the effect of axial force.
Recently, International Association Classification Societies (IACS) has adopted the Common Structural Rules (CSR) for Bulk Carriers and Tankers, which specifies the requirement associated with the ultimate strength of hull girder structure. The theoretical background and the results of verification study are neither well summarized nor released. Furthermore, the requirement is not a form of deterministic formula but a form of program in which source code is not disclosed. The reliability of the non-linear structural analysis program is verified through the comparison with the results of the analysis and the model test. Then, the reliability of the ultimate strength requirement in CSR is checked by comparing with the results of rigorous non-linear analysis.

Frequency response functions are of great use in dynamic analysis of structural systems. The present paper proposes an efficient method for computation of the frequency rewponse functions of linear structural dynamic models with a sparse, non-proportional damping matrix. An exact condensation procedure is proposed which enables the present method to condense the matrices without resulting in any errors. Also, an iterative scheme is proposed to be able to avoid matrix inversion in computing frequency response matrix. The proposed method is illustrated through a numerical example.

Non-structural elements, such as equipment, are typically affixed to a building's floor or ceiling and move in tandem with the structure during an earthquake. Seismic forces acting upon non-structural elements traverse the ground and the building's structure. Considering this seismic load transmission mechanism, it becomes imperative to account for the interactions between soil, structure, and equipment, establishing seismic design procedures accordingly. In this study, a Soil-Structure-Equipment Interaction (SSEI) model is developed. Through seismic response analysis using this model, how the presence or absence of SSEI impacts equipment behavior is examined. Neglecting the SSEI aspect when assessing equipment responses results in an overly conservative evaluation of its seismic response. This emphasizes the necessity of proposing an analytical model and design methodology that adequately incorporate the interaction effect. Doing so enables the calculation of rational seismic forces and facilitates the seismic design of non-structural elements.

In this paper, a novel laser-based non-contact and non-destructive stress measurement technique is newly proposed for measuring stress in steel structural members. As the demand of stress monitoring in structural members is increased, various non-destructive techniques are being applied to the field of structural health monitoring. Spectroscopic techniques are non-contact technique and widely used for chemical identification of target materials. Especially, piezospectroscopic technique is a residual stress measurement technique in thermal barrier coatings. Although the piezospectroscopic technique has high possibility of measuring structural stress in steel members, the technique has been rarely applied to this field. In this paper, piezospectroscopy-based stress measurement technique is, therefore, proposed for measuring stress in steel structural member. To do that, alumina particles have been coated onto a specimen of a structural steel rod using a thermal spray coating technique. And then, an uniaxial compression test has been conducted to the specimen to collect each fluorescence spectrum under different loading conditions. Finally, the linear relation of spectral shift and applied compressive stress of the specimen has been experimentally established.
Objective: The objective of this study was to determine internal structure spectral profile of by-products from coffee processing that were affected by added-microorganism fermentation duration in relation to truly absorbed feed nutrient supply in ruminant system. Methods: The by-products from coffee processing were fermented using commercial fermentation product, consisting of various microorganisms: for 0 (control), 7, 14, 21, and 28 days. In this study, carbohydrate-related spectral profiles of coffee by-products were correlated with their chemical and nutritional properties (chemical composition, total digestible nutrient, bioenergy values, carbohydrate sub-fractions and predicted degradation and digestion parameters as well as milk value of feed). The vibrational spectra of coffee by-products samples after fermentation for 0 (control), 7, 14, 21, and 28 days were determined using a JASCO FT/IR-4200 spectroscopy coupled with accessory of attenuated total reflectance (ATR). The molecular spectral analyses with univariate approach were conducted with the OMNIC 7.3 software. Results: Molecular spectral analysis parameters in fermented and non-fermented by-products from coffee processing included structural carbohydrate, cellulosic compounds, non-structural carbohydrates, lignin compound, CH-bending, structural carbohydrate peak1, structural carbohydrate peak2, structural carbohydrate peak3, hemicellulosic compound, non-structural carbohydrate peak1, non-structural carbohydrate peak2, non-structural carbohydrate peak3. The study results show that added-microorganism fermentation induced chemical and nutritional changes of coffee by-products including carbohydrate chemical composition profiles, bioenergy value, feed milk value, carbohydrate subfractions, estimated degradable and undegradable fractions in the rumen, and intestinal digested nutrient supply in ruminant system. Conclusion: In conclusion, carbohydrate nutrition value changes by added-microorganism fermentation duration were in an agreement with the change of their spectral profile in the coffee by-products. The studies show that the vibrational ATR-FT/IR spectroscopic technique could be applied as a rapid analytical tool to evaluate fermented by-products and connect with truly digestible carbohydrate supply in ruminant system.
