  • Tracking and exploiting instantaneous spectrum opportunities are fundamental challenges in opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) in presence of the bursty traffic of primary users and the limited spectrum sensing capability of secondary users. In order to take advantage of the history of spectrum sensing and access decisions, a sequential decision framework is widely used to design optimal policies. However, many existing schemes, based on a partially observed Markov decision process (POMDP) framework, reveal that optimal policies are non-stationary in nature which renders them difficult to calculate and implement. Therefore, this work pursues stationary OSA policies, which are thereby efficient yet low-complexity, while still incorporating many practical factors, such as spectrum sensing errors and a priori unknown statistical spectrum knowledge. First, with an approximation on channel evolution, OSA is formulated in a multi-armed bandit (MAB) framework. As a result, the optimal policy is specified by the wellknown Gittins index rule, where the channel with the largest Gittins index is always selected. Then, closed-form formulas are derived for the Gittins indices with tunable approximation, and the design of a reinforcement learning algorithm is presented for calculating the Gittins indices, depending on whether the Markovian channel parameters are available a priori or not. Finally, the superiority of the scheme is presented via extensive experiments compared to other existing schemes in terms of the quality of policies and optimality.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm that can efficiently detect and monitor multiple ships in real-time. The proposed algorithm uses morphological operations and edge information for detecting and tracking ships. We used smoothing filter with a $3{\times}3$ Gaussian window and luminance component instead of RGB components in the captured image. Additionally, we applied Sobel operator for edge detection and a threshold for binary images. Finally, object labeling with connectivity and morphological operation with open and erosion were used for ship detection. Compared with conventional methods, the proposed method is meant to be used mainly in coastal surveillance systems and monitoring systems of harbors. A system based on this method was tested for both stationary and non-stationary backgrounds, and the results of the detection and tracking rates were more than 97% on average. Thousands of image frames and 20 different video sequences in both online and offline modes were tested, and an overall detection rate of 97.6% was achieved.

  • In the case of Impingement of plane moving shock wave over concave or convex double wedges (pseudo-stationary flow) and cylindrical walls (truly non-stationary flow), it Is expected that there are transitions from regular reflection to Mach reflection or vice versa In shock wave reflections. In these connections, it is necessary to verify the various of reflection process and transition angle for the reflection problems In double wedges, and to verify the transition angle, effects of curvature radius and initial wall angle on it for the reflection problems In cylindrical walls. Especially, we focused our attention to confirm the existence of hysteresis phenomenon induced by the different transition processes, and Neumann paradox, which is a small discrepancy between theoretical and experimental transition angles. Experiments were carried out by using the shock tube of $6{\times}6cm^2$, and high speed photographic technique consisted of delay unit, triggering system, light source of Xe lamp and so on was used for flow visualization.

  • Strain SA72 was isolated from Jeot-gal and identified as producer of a bacteriocin, which showed some bactericidal activity against Lactobacillus delbrueckii ATCC 4797. Strain SA72 was tentatively identified as Lactococcus lactis according to the AOI test. Lactococcus lactis SA72 showed a broad spectrum of microorganisms, tested by the modified deferred method. The activity of lacticion SA72, named tentatively as a bacteriocin produced by Lactococcus lactis SA72, was detected during the mid-lon growth phase, reached a maximum during the early stationary phase, and then declined after the late stationary phase. Lacticin SA72 also showed a relatively broad spectrum of activity against non-pathogenic and pathogenic microorganisms when assessed by the spot-on-lawn method. Its anitimicrobial activity on sensitive indicator cells disappeared completely by protease XIV treatment. The inhibitory activity of lacticin SA72 remained after treatment for 15 min at $121^{\circ}C$, 문 was stable in a pH range of 2.0 to 9.0 and all organic solvents examined. It demonstrated a typical bactericidal mode of inhibition against Lactobacillus delbrueckii ATCC 4797. The apparent molecular mass of lacticin SA72 was in the region of 3-3.5 kDa, determined by SDS-PAGE.

  • In this study, the new particulate matter emissions considering condensable PM (CPM) of stationary pollutant sources were calculated to modify the CAPSS emissions based on only filterable PMs in Seoul and Incheon. When the new calculated emissions were compared to the existing filterable PM based emissions of local governments, different contribution patterns of emission sources were found. For example, the proportion of mobile sources was high when the filterable PM was considered; however, the contribution of non-industrial sources was dominant in Seoul when the emissions of CPM were considered. Also, the proportion of energy industrial combustion and manufacturing combustion sources was significant in Incheon when CPM emissions considered. Therefore, it seems to be much desirable to consider CPM emissions for determining adequate locations of collective energy facilities and manufacturing combustion facilities in the future. In addition, CPM should be considered to solve the dust problem nationwide. The emission analysis, diagnosis, prediction and countermeasures using CPM emissions should be appropriately performed.

  • With the trend of factory automation, nowadays, much industrial machinery tends to be put into 24-hours operation a day. However, these trends in industrial equipments also increase the possibility of various mechanical problems and bring about innumerable maintenance cost. There is a strong need of the condition monitoring and diagnosis for industrial equipment, especially rotating machinery, since they are connected not only to the reduction in the maintenance costs but also connected to the enhancement of production efficiency. Generally, to evaluate the operating conditions in the machinery in the industrial field, various physical properties are monitored. Among them, vibration and Noise signals are the mist important indicator and it is effectively used in many diagnosis systems for machinery. Much previous research is based in the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) method. The spectral analysis is assumed that the signal is stationary. However, almost random signals are non-stationary. The wavelet transform has been recognized an efficient Method. Most interesting sounds have time-varying features. Signal processing techniques for the analysis of transient sound have been not clearly given yet.

  • In most industrial applications, the geometrical complexity is combined with the moving boundaries. These problems considerably increase the computational difficulties since they require, respectively, regeneration and deformation of the grid. As a result, engineering flow simulation is restricted. In order to solve this kind of problems the immersed boundary method was developed. In this study, the immersed boundary method is applied to the numerical simulation of stationary, rotating and oscillating cylinders in the 2-dimensional square cavity. No-slip velocity boundary conditions are given by imposing feedback forcing term to the momentum equation. Besides, this technique is used with a second-order accurate interpolation scheme in order to improve the accuracy of flow near the immersed boundaries. The governing equations for the mass and momentum using the immersed boundary method are discretized on the non-staggered grid by using the finite volume method(FVM). This study presents the possibility of the immersed boundary method to apply to the complex flow experienced in the industrial applications.

  • This paper represents an identification procedure for leading mechanism of a car A/V system which is composed of a DC motor and a set of plastic gears. In addition, we studied dominant noise source of rattle noise generated by external forced vibration as a car drives. we made a dynamometer to produce stationary operation on loading mechanism of A/V system because noise generated by actual loading mechanism is non-stationary signal. operating the dynamometer setup at various motor speeds, sound pressure spectra are measured and the results are analyzed. its dominant noise source is also identified by using a sound Intensity technique. we made use of multi-dimensional spectral analysis to rind a dominant rattle noise. this method is so useful to eliminate coherence between vibration sources and helps us obtain coherent output spectrum of individual vibration source which make a rattle noise.

  • This paper deals with a one-searcher multi-target search problem where targets with different detection priorities move in Markov processes in each discrete time over a given space search area, and the total number of search time intervals is fixed. A limited search resource is available in each search time interval and an exponential detection function is assumed. The searcher can obtain a target detection award, if detected, which represents the detection priority of target and is non-increasing with time. The objective is to establish the optimal search plan which allocates the search resource effort over the search areas in each time interval in order to maximize the total detection award. In the analysis, the given problem is decomposed into intervalwise individual search problems each being treated as a single stationary target problem for each time interval. An associated iterative procedure is derived to solve a sequence of stationary target problems. The computational results show that the proposed algorithm guarantees optimality.
