The introduction of natural dyes into modern dye houses is very promising green chemistry concept that should be popularized more to reduce the dependency of leather dyeing on some toxic and non-biodegradable synthetic dyes. In this study, the properties of dyeing of cochineal on cow leather were evaluated. The proper dyeing conditions were identified with dye uptake (K/S values) depending on the colorant concentration, dyeing duration, dyeing temperature, and dye bath pH. For the proper mordanting conditions, color changes for different mordants were observed as $La^{*}b^{*}$ and H V/C values. Color fastness (light, rubbing, and dry cleaning) was also examined. Additionally, antibacterial properties and UV protection were examined. The results were as follows: The optimized dyeing conditions were 300% o.w.f., $40^{\circ}C$, 40 min., and pH 5. The cow leather color was red in the absence of mordanting, while it was red purple after being mordanted with Al and Cu, and purple mordanted with Fe. The K/S value of cow leathers increased in the order of the dyeing using $AlK(SO_4)_2$ > $CuSO_4$ > $FeSO_4$. The colorfastness to light and rubbing were reduced compared to original (untreated) cow leather. However dry cleaning fastness was very satisfactory, with a 4~5 rating. The dyed and pre-mordanting dyed cow leather showed excellent antibacterial properties.

This paper presents a dual exposure fusion method for image enhancement. Images taken with a short exposure time usually contain a sharp structure, but they are dark and are prone to be contaminated by noise. In contrast, long-exposure images are bright and noise-free, but usually suffer from blurring artifacts. Thus, we fuse the dual exposures to generate an enhanced image that is well-exposed, noise-free, and blur-free. To this end, we present a new scale-space patch-match method to find correspondences between the short and long exposures so that proper color components can be combined within a proposed dual non-local (DNL) means framework. We also present a residual filtering method that eliminates the structure component in the estimated noise image in order to obtain a sharper and further enhanced image. To this end, the entropy is utilized to determine the proper size of the filtering window. Experimental results show that our method generates ghost-free, noise-free, and blur-free enhanced images from the short and long exposure pairs for various dynamic scenes.
Xerostomia is usually caused by a reduced salivary flow or by changes in the biochemical composition of saliva. Halitosis or oral malodor is an offensive odor usually originating from the oral cavity. Halitosis can lead to anxiety and psychosocial embarrassment. The occurrence of halitosis closely related with intraoral conditions including the presence of xerostomia. Especially, the relationship between xerostomia and halitosis is prominent in elderly patients receiving polypharmacy with at least two systemic diseases. This study is a review of the update literature of xerostomia and halitosis. A large number of papers have been searched and identified using the words , , , , , , and . Papers not relevant to the issue were removed reducing the entries to 79 only. Most of identified papers were systematic reviews, non-systematic reviews, and observational studies. With a proper diagnosis, identification of the etiology and timely referrals certain steps are taken to create a successful individualized therapeutic approach. It is significant to highlight the necessity of an interdisciplinary method for the treatment of xerostomia and halitosis to prevent misdiagnosis or unnecessary treatment. This article concisely focuses on the development of a systemic flow of events to come to the proper treatment of the xerostomia and halitosis.
Since guided weapon is high-cost and one-shot device which is non-reusable, it requires a lot of resources to prove required accuracy as a part of reliability demonstration. Once a test for proving accuracy rate of guided missile fails, it causes an additional cost and delay of schedule. This study introduces an equation for proper sample size and plan for guided-missile accuracy rate test in order to minimize the risk of test failure. Proper sample size for the test is derived by considering the reliability growth. Furthermore, each task for accuracy rate test is defined according to the development step. Therefore, this study can contribute to reduce sample size for accuracy rate test in order to meet the reliability requirement and assure transparency in the test process.
These days, one of the issues well discussed is the obstruction or screen of sight to mountain-skyline by buildings. So question is to which heights buildings should be constructed over mountain-skyline and then harmony can be realized between mountain-skyline and building-outline. Based on the mentioned above, this study intends to find out the proper projection- level of buildings over background mountain-skyline when considering the types of mountain-skyline, building-outline and building-layout. The results of this study are first, the proper projection-ratio of buildings over background mountain-skyline can be 0.1 because assessment values on harmony-level are more than 3.0 in almost cases, second, the building-outline influences on the assessment values of harmony-level when the types of mountain-skyline are formed left-high & right-low and right-high & left-low, third, building-layout doesn't influence on the assessment va lues of harmony-level, finally, statistically difference doesn't exist between expert group and non-expert group in the assessment values of harmony-level.

Steel jacketing technique is a retrofitting method often employed for static and seismic strengthening of existing reinforced concrete columns. When no continuity is given to angle chords as they cross the floor, the jacket is considered "indirectly loaded", which means that the load acting on the column is transferred partially to the external jacket through interface shear stresses. The evaluation of load transfer mechanism between core and jacket is not straightforward to be modeled, due to the absence of knowledge of a proper constitutive law of the concrete-to-steel interface and to the difficulties in taking into account the mechanical nonlinearities of materials. This paper presents an incremental analytical/numerical approach for evaluating the compressive response of RC columns strengthened with indirectly loaded jackets. The approach allows calculating shear stresses at the interface between core and jacket and predicting the axial capacity of retrofitted columns. A proper constitutive law is proposed for modelling the interaction between the steel and the concrete. Based on plasticity rules and the non-linear behaviour of materials, the column is divided into portions. After a detailed parametric analysis, comparisons are finally made by theoretical predictions and experimental results available in the literature, showing a good agreement.
Repairing damaged DNA and removing all physical connections between sister chromosomes is important to ensure proper chromosomal segregation by contributing to chromosomal stability. Here, we show that the depletion of non-SMC condensin I complex subunit H (NCAPH) exacerbates chromosome segregation errors and cytokinesis failure owing to sister-chromatid intertwinement, which is distinct from the ultra-fine DNA bridges induced by DNA inter-strand crosslinks (DNA-ICLs). Importantly, we identified an interaction between NCAPH and GEN1 in the chromatin involving binding at the N-terminus of NCAPH. DNA-ICL activation, using ICL-inducing agents, increased the expression and interaction between NCAPH and GEN1 in the soluble nuclear and chromatin, indicating that the NCAPH-GEN1 interaction participates in repairing DNA damage. Moreover, NCAPH stabilizes GEN1 within chromatin at the G2/M-phase and is associated with DNA-ICL-induced damage repair. Therefore, NCAPH resolves DNA-ICL-induced ultra-fine DNA bridges by stabilizing GEN1 and ensures proper chromosome separation and chromosome structural stability.

With the popularity of online learning, intelligent tutoring systems are starting to become mainstream for assisting online question practice. Surrounded by abundant learning resources, some students struggle to select the proper questions. Personalized question recommendation is crucial for supporting students in choosing the proper questions to improve their learning performance. However, traditional question recommendation methods (i.e., collaborative filtering (CF) and cognitive diagnosis model (CDM)) cannot meet students' needs well. The CDM-based question recommendation ignores students' requirements and similarities, resulting in inaccuracies in the recommendation. Even CF examines student similarities, it disregards their knowledge proficiency and struggles when generating questions of appropriate difficulty. To solve these issues, we first design an enhanced cognitive diagnosis process that integrates students' affection into traditional CDM by employing the non-compensatory bidimensional item response model (NCB-IRM) to enhance the representation of individual personality. Subsequently, we propose an affection-enhanced personalized question recommendation (AE-PQR) method for online learning. It introduces NCB-IRM to CF, considering both individual and common characteristics of students' responses to maintain rationality and accuracy for personalized question recommendation. Experimental results show that our proposed method improves the accuracy of diagnosed student cognition and the appropriateness of recommended questions.
Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the western world and also ranks as the fifth-leading malignancy and death in Thailand. This study aimed to provide a present outlook of colorectal diseases among Thai patients with special emphasis on CRC in Hatyai, Songkhla, southern Thailand. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study covered ten year data of CRC, benign colorectal tumors and non-colorectal tumors from the Department of Pathology in Hatyai Hospital, Songkhla, Thailand, between years 2003-2012. Incidence rates based on age, gender, ten year incidence trends, and distribution of histopathological characteristics of patients were calculated and demonstrated. Results: Out of 730 biopsies, 100 cases were benign colorectal tumors, 336 were CRC and 294 were non-colorectal tumors. Colorectal tumors (both benign and CRC) (60.1%) were more common than non-colorectal tumors (39.9%). CRC (77.1%) were more common than benign colorectal tumors (32.9%). Colorectal tumors were mainly found in patients aged over sixty whereas non-colorectal and benign colorectal tumors were found in those under sixty (P=0.01). sAmong CRC, adenocarcinoma contributed about 97.3% of all cases with well differentiated tumors being the most frequent (56.9%). Both benign colorectal tumors and CRC were more commonly found in males (63%) than females (37%). The incidence trend of CRC demonstrated increase from 2003-2012. Conclusions: The incidence of CRC increased in Hatyai from 2003-2012. CRC tends to be more common in people older than sixty, thus, screening programs, cost-effective analysis of treatment modalities, and treatment protocols for the elderly should be examined. Proper implementation of preventive measures such as changing lifestyle factors might enhance control of colorectal disease.
