Emotion affects many parts of human life such as learning ability, behavior and judgment. It is important to understand human nature. Emotion can only be inferred from facial expressions or gestures, what it actually is. In particular, emotion is difficult to classify not only because individuals feel differently about emotion but also because visually induced emotion does not sustain during whole testing period. To solve the problem, we acquired bio-signals and extracted features from those signals, which offer objective information about emotion stimulus. The emotion pattern classifier was composed of unsupervised learning algorithm with hidden nodes and feature vectors. Restricted Boltzmann machine (RBM) based on probability estimation was used in the unsupervised learning and maps emotion features to transformed dimensions. The emotion was characterized by non-linear classifiers with hidden nodes of a multi layer neural network, named deep belief network (DBN). The accuracy of DBN (about 94 %) was better than that of back-propagation neural network (about 40 %). The DBN showed good performance as the emotion pattern classifier.
This paper presents optimization of a long-span portal steel frame under dynamic wind loads using a surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithm. Long-span portal steel frames are often used in low-rise industrial and commercial buildings. The structure needs be able to resist the wind loads, and at the same time it should be as light as possible in order to be cost-effective. In this work, numerical model of a portal steel frame is constructed using structural analysis program (SAP2000), with the web-heights at five locations of I-sections of the columns and rafters as the decision variables. In order to evaluate the performance of a given design under dynamic wind loading, the equivalent static wind load (ESWL) is obtained from a database of wind pressures measured in wind tunnel tests. A modified formulation of the problem compared to the one available in the literature is also presented, considering additional design constraints for practicality. Evolutionary algorithms (EA) are often used to solve such non-linear, black-box problems, but when each design evaluation is computationally expensive (e.g., in this case a SAP2000 simulation), the time taken for optimization using EAs becomes untenable. To overcome this challenge, we employ a surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithm (SAEA) to expedite the convergence towards the optimum design. The presented SAEA uses multiple spatially distributed surrogate models to approximate the simulations more accurately in lieu of commonly used single global surrogate models. Through rigorous numerical experiments, improvements in results and time savings obtained using SAEA over EA are demonstrated.
This paper present a new technique for doing realistic computer animation. The method is based on forward dynamic simulation and nonlinear problem solving (parameter optimization) technique. Objects are modelled physically and simulated faithfully while satisfying kinematic and geometric constraints. This forward dynamic simulation gives us very realistic motions especially for non-voluntary motions. Then we extend simulation technique to do animation using parameter optimization. The basic idea is to add motion control over the entire animation. The motion control is finding optimal solutions while satisfying user's animation goals. We provide two different animation technique; one is for rigid body without joint actuators and the other is for rigid body with linear joint actuators. To achieve motion control, we convert single simulation to single nonliner function evaluation while either setting initial conditions as variables for the function or allocating control variables in terms of time. This method is presented with two animation examples: dice-magic and human stand-up.
Recently, offshore wind farms are increasingly expected, because there are huge resource and large site in offshore. Jeju island has optimum condition for constructing a wind energy farm. Unlike the mainland, Jeju island has stratified structure distribution between rock layers sediments due to volcanic activation. In these case, it can be occur engineering problems in whole structures as well as the safety of foundation as the thickness and distribution of sediment under top rock layer can not support sufficiently the structure. One of the most obvious applications of the pressuremeter test is the solution of the problem of laterally loaded piles. A hyperbolic non-linear p-y criterion for rock is developed in this study that can be used in LPILE program, to predict the deflection, moment, and shear reponses of a shaft under the applied lateral loads. Finally, a comparison between the predicted and measured response at two different sites is shown to give an idea of the accuracy of the IFP method.

From development of computer science, genetic algorithm has been applied to many fields for search like non-linear problem based on various variables and optimization process. Among others, in the data mining field, there are methods to select the best input variables for model accuracy and various predict models which were merged by using the genetic algorithm. In the meantime, to improve and preserve quality of the Hanwoo (Korean cattle) which is represented the agricultural industry in our country, we need to find out outstanding economical traits of Hanwoo in having specific genotype of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) which is inherited to next generation. According to, This research proposed the selecting method to find genotype of SNPs marker which affects economical traits of the Hanwoo by using the genetic algorithm. And we selected the best genotypes of the principal SNPs marker by applying to real data on Hanwoo genetic.

Recently, information providing service using Big Data is being expanded. Big Data processing technology is actively being academic research to an important issue in the IT industry. In this paper, we analyze a skilled pattern of welder through Big Data analysis or extraction of welding based on R programming. We are going to reduce cost on welding work including weld quality, weld operation time by providing analyzed results non-skilled welder. Welding has a problem that should be invested long time to be a skilled welder. For solving these issues, we apply connection rules algorithms and regression method to much pattern variable for welding pattern analysis of skilled welder. We analyze a pattern of skilled welder according to variable of analyzed rules by analyzing top N rules. In this paper, we confirmed the pattern structure of power consumption rate and wire consumption length through experimental results of analyzed welding pattern analysis.

The static aeroelastic analysis and optimization of flexible wings are conducted for steady state conditions while both aerodynamic and structural parameters can be used as optimization variables. The system of multidisciplinary design optimization as a robust methodology to couple commercial codes for a static aeroelastic optimization purpose to yield a convenient adaptation to engineering applications is developed. Aspect ratio, taper ratio, sweepback angle are chosen as optimization variables and the skin thickness of the wing. The real-coded adaptive range multi-objective genetic algorithm code, which represents the global multi-objective optimization algorithm, was used to control the optimization process. The support vector regression(SVR) is applied for optimization, in order to reduce the time of computation. For this multi-objective design optimization problem, numerical results show that several useful Pareto optimal designs exist for the flexible wing.

The double-peak normal distribution function (DPDF) suggested by Cho et al.(2004) has the problems that the extremely high and low tidal elevations are frequently generated in the Monte-Carlo simulation processes because the upper and lower limits of the DPDF are unbounded in spite of the excellent goodness-offit results. In this study, the modified DPDF is suggested by introducing the upper and lower value parameters and re-scale parameters in order to remove these problems. These new parameters of the DPDF are optimally estimated by the non-linear optimization problem solver using the Levenberg-Marquardt scheme. This modified DPDF can remove completely the unrealistically generated tidal levations and give a slightly better fit than the existing DRDF. Based on the DPDF's characteristic power, the over- and under estimation problems of the design factors are also automatically intercepted, too.
The paper is concerned with the elasto-plastic and geometrically nonlinear analysis of shell structures using an improved degenerated shell element. In the formulation of the element stiffness, the combined use of three different techniques was made. They are; 1) an enhanced interpolation of transverse shear strains in the natural coordinate system to overcome the shear locking problem ; 2) the reduced integration technique in in-plane strains to avoid the membrane locking behavior ; and 3) selective addition of the nonconforming displacement modes to improve the element performances. This element is free of serious shear/membrane locking problems and undesirable compatible/commutable spurious kinematic deformation modes. In the formulation for plastic deformation, the concept of a layered element model is used and the material is assumed von Mises yield criterion. An incremental total Lagrangian formulation is presented which allows the calculation of arbitrarily large displacements and rotations. The resulting non-linear equilibrium equations are solved by the Netwon-Raphson method combined with load or displacement increment. The versatility and accuracy of this improved degenerated shell element are demonstrated by solving several numerical examples.

This paper presents a method to analyze the unbalance response of a high speed polygon mirror scanner motor supported by sintered bearing and flexible supporting structures by using the finite element method and the mode superposition method. The appropriate finite element equations for polygon mirror are described by rotating annular sector element using Kirchhoff plate theory and von Karman non-linear strain, and its rigid body motion is also considered. The rotating components except for the polygon mirror are modeled by Timoshenko beam element including the gyroscopic effect. The flexible supporting structures are modeled by using a 4-node tetrahedron element and 4-node shell element with rotational degrees of freedom. Finite element equations of each component of the polygon mirror scanner motor and the flexible supporting structures are consistently derived by satisfying the geometric compatibility in the internal boundary between each component. The rigid link constraints are also imposed at the interface area between sleeve and sintered bearing to describe the physical motion at this interface. A global matrix equation obtained by assembling the finite element equations of each substructure is transformed to a state-space matrix-vector equation, and both damped natural frequencies and modal damping ratios are calculated by solving the associated eigenvalue problem by using the restarted Arnoldi iteration method. Unbalance responses in time and frequency domain are performed by superposing the eigenvalues and eigenvectors from the free vibration analysis. The validity of the proposed method is verified by comparing the simulated unbalance response with the experimental results. This research also shows that the flexibility of supporting structures plays an important role in determining the unbalance response of the polygon mirror scanner motor.
