  • The standard theory of production treats human and non-human inputs in the same way. Inert Areas Theory drops this assumption. One distinction is obvious. Human capital, the source of human inputs, can not be purchased outright by firms. Usually what is purchased are units of labor time. What is critical is directed effort, at or beyond some level of skill. Direct effort, however, involves choice and motivation, and these are the critical variables left out of the standard theory. Leibenstein introduces the concept of "inert areas" by which he means "a set of effort positions whose associated levels of utility are not equal but in which the action required to go from a lower to a higher utility level involves a utility cost that is not compensated for by the gain in utility." This idea is used when discussing the behavior of firm's management.f firm's management.

  • If an appliance perceives the location or health condition of a resident in the smart home, it can provide more intelligent service actively. That is, while the conventional appliance is operated by manual input of a resident, the location-based human adaptive appliance detects the resident's information such as location, activity pattern, or health condition by itself and provides the most suitable living condition for the resident autonomously. This paper presents the real-time location-based metabolic rate estimation method that measures the amount of physical activity (metabolic rate) for location-based human adaptive air-conditioner. And, the feasibility of the algorithm is evaluated experimentally on a test bed using the pyroelectric infrared sensor-based indoor location aware system (PILAS) that is a non-terminal-based location-aware system.

  • This paper presents a non-contact measurement method of vital signal by the use of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) bio-radar system, configured with two antennas that are separated by a certain distance. The direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm for coherent sources was applied to detect vital signals coming from different spatial angles. The proposed MIMO bio-radar system was composed of two identical transceivers sharing single VCO with a PLL. In order to verify the performance of the system, the DOA estimation experiment was completed with respect to the human target at angles varying between $-50^{\circ}$ and $50^{\circ}$ where the bio-radar system was placed at distances (corresponding to 50 cm and 95 cm) in front of a human target. The proposed MIMO bio-radar system can successfully find the direction of a human target.

Measurement on Perceived Human Body Joints Discomfort in the Standing Posture (선 자세에서의 인체 관절의 지각 불편도 측정)

  • In workplace design, an ergonomic solution should ensure low postural stress in the operator during his/her work. Stress caused by awkward working postures of the trunk, shoulders and legs can result in fatigue, discomfort, musculo-skeletal disorders and nerve entrapment syndromes. Since discomfort and musculo-skeletal disorders are both related to exposure to biomechanical load on the musculo-skeletal system, minimization of discomfort will contribute to reduction of the risk for musculo-skeletal disorders as well. Therefore, in this study, perceived discomfort on the human body joints was measured in the standing postures using the magnitude estimation in order to have a standardized numerical scale for joint discomfort. Nine healthy graduate students participated voluntarily in the laboratory study. The results revealed that perceived discomfort of all the joints increased as the joints deviated from neutral position. Especially, it showed drastic increment on perceived discomfort when deviation from neutral position in each human body joint increased from 75% to 100%. in terms of relative range of motion(R0M). On the basis of these experimental results, a preliminary ranking for assessment of stressfulness of non-neutral postures around the human body joints was suggested.

Local Irritation of DA-3285, Recombinant Human Erythropoietin (유전자재조합법으로 생산한 human erythropoietin(DA-3285)의 국소자극성에 관한 연구)

  • The local irritation studies of DA-3285, recombinant human erytropoietin(rHu-EPO), were carried out in rabbits after the following treatment; single application into the conjunctival sac of the eye, single subcutaneous injection, 7-day repeated subcutaneous injection and 8-day repeated infusion into the ear vein. Also, the local irritancy of DA-3285 leaked around vein was studied in mice by single perivascular injection. The results obtained were as follows. In the result of ocular irritation test, DA-3285 could be considered as a non-irritating material. In single and 7-day repeated subcutaneous irritation test, the irritancy of DA-3285 was not so much different from that of saline. The vascular irritancy of DA3285 by 8-day repeated infusion was negligible and similar to that of saline. And the irritancy of DA3285 by perivascular injection was comparable to that of saline. These results indicate that DA-3285 has no irritating activity when injected through subcutaneous or intravenous route for clinical practice as 3.5% solution.

Design of Compliant Hinge Joints inspired by Ligamentous Structure (인대 구조에 기인한 유연 경첩 관절의 설계)

  • This paper suggests novel types of joint mechanisms composed of elastic strings and rigid bodies. All of the human hinge joints have the articular capsule and a pair of collateral ligaments. These fibrous tissues make the joint compliant and stable. The proposed mechanism closely imitates the human hinge joint structure by using the concept of tensegrity. The resultant mechanism has several characteristics shown commonly from both the tensegrity structure and the human joint such as compliance, stability, lightweight, and non-contact between rigid bodies. In addition, the role and feature of the human hinge joints vary according to the origins of a pair of collateral ligaments. Likewise, the locations of two strings corresponding to a pair of collateral ligaments produce different function and motion of the proposed mechanism. It would be one of the advantages obtained from the proposed mechanism. How to make a joint mechanism with different features is also suggested in this paper.

  • This study describes the important information for establishing Human Computer Interface System for solving the large scale Traveling Saleman Problem in Printed Circuit Board production. Appropriate types and sizes of partitioning of large scale problems are discussed. Optimal tours for the special patterns appeared in PCB's are given. The comparision of optimal solutions of non-Euclidean problems and Euclidean problems shows the possibilities of using human interface in solving the Chebyshev TSP. Algorithm for the large scale problem using described information and coputational result of the practical problem are given.

  • 한 문장의 주어가 우리말에서처럼 수의적으로 나타날 수 있는가 혹은 영어에서처럼 반드시 표면에 나타나야 하는가에 따라 공주어언어 (null-subject language)와 비공주어언어(non-null-subject language)로 분류된다. 이러한 주어 탈락 현상에 대하여 이론적으로 다양한 가설이 제기되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 한국어의 언어 습득 자료에 나타나는 주어 탈락의 양상을 살피고, 이를 비공주어언어인 영어자료와 공주어언어인 이탈리아어, 포르투갈어, 중국어자료와 비교함으로써 궁극적으로 이론적 가설을 비교 평가하는 데 이바지하고자 한다.

  • 문서를 대상으로 한 다양한 감정 분류 연구가 진행되어 왔으며, 최근에는 트윗 감정 분류에 그대로 적용되고 있다. 그러나 트윗은 일반 문서와 다르게 몇 가지의 독특한 특징을 갖고 있어 좋은 성능을 보이지 못하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기계학습을 기반으로 트윗의 특징과 트윗 사용자 정보 자질을 사용한 실험으로 트윗 감정 분류 성능의 영향을 확인하였다. 실험 결과 트윗에 포함된 이모티콘 감정 극성과, 사용자 성향 극성 자질은 트윗 감정 분류 모델의 성능 향상에 기여를 하는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • Forty-six Streptococci were isolated from human dental plaque. Each isolated from a different person, and their morphological and physiological characteristics investigated. It was found that the isolated micro-organisms 1. Most found that the isolated micro-organisms 2. Acid produced from maltose, inulin, manitol, sorbitol, lactose, mannose, 3. In the sucrose broth, most of them formed gelatinous clusters adhearing to the wall of the tube.
