The nomenclature of the sea nettle jellyfish from Korea was initially described as Dactylometra quinquecirrha Agassiz, 1862. However its identity has been questioned on the basis of its local distribution and molecular data. Here, we examined morphology and DNA sequences of nuclear rDNA using specimens collected from southern Korean waters in August 2014. Based on morphological characteristics (bell size, umbrella pattern, number of tentacles and lappets) and distribution locality, we reassign the Korean D. quinquecirrha to Chrysaora pacifica (Goette, 1886), and provide a re-description accordingly. The molecular identity of C. pacifica was further confirmed by comparison of nuclear ribosomal DNA sequences.

Cam/tappet wear is one of the critical concerns in valve train deign. Maximum contact stress and minimum oil film thickness between the cam and tappet are usually checked for the estimation of wear characteristics. If the two extreme cases arise simultaneously, there is a strong possibility of cam/tappet wear. In this paper, effects of valve train layout on the wear characteristics were studied. Especially for swinging arm type valve trains, initial geometric layout must be very carefully defined to avoid wear problems. The study was performed fur an end pivot type OHC valve train, which had severe wear problems. Analysis results show that some geometric parameter affect very sensitively on the wear characteristics. Experiments were also performed for the original and modified valve trains, which strongly support the analysis results.

최근 방대해진 의료 정보 관리와 통합을 위해 다양한 전자기록 시스템이 개발되어왔다. 이 중에 EMR(Electronic Medical Record)은 병원 내의 의료 정보를 전산으로 처리하는 것이다. 이때 많은 의학 용어가 사용되는데 이것을 체계적으로 지원하기 위해 SNOMED(Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine)와 같은 용어 체계가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 용어 체계를 위해 의학 용어를 자동으로 구축하는 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 제안한 시스템은 웹 마이닝을 통해 자동으로 웹에서 데이터를 수집하고 분류해서 의학 용어 데이터를 구축하게 된다.

A type specimen is the specimen originally used to name a new species; thus, it is one of the most significant materials for taxonomic study. In our study on the inventory and management of endemic species in Korea, we checked the type materials for Pseudolysimachion pusanensis (Y. Lee) Y. Lee, combination name Veronica pusanensis Y. Lee, recorded as deposited at the herbaria of the Ewha Womans University and the National Institute of Biological Resources, and failed to find any specimens. Thus, we concluded that all type specimens of V. pusanensis have since been misplaced. According to articles 9.11 and 9.13 of the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants, it is necessary to select a neotype if the holotype is missing and no other original material exists. Therefore, we designate the neotype maintained in the herbarium of the National Institute of Biological Resources of the Republic of Korea.

Acifluorfen tolerance charateristics determined the involvement of absorption, translocation, and metabolism in acifluorfen tolerance. Less than 6% of the applied $^{14}C-acifluorfen$ was absorbed. There were no differences in acifluorfen absorption between susceptible and tolerant somaclones. More $^{14}C-acifluorfen$ was translocated in the susceptible than the tolerant somaclones. The susceptible somaclone did not metabolize acifluorfen while some somaclones (i.e.,EBN-3A) metabolized $^{14}C-acifluorfen$. We scrutinized the Korean taxonomic literature, with special focus on some nomenclatural points and four different cases were listed categorically. Several naked names (nomen nudum), invalidly published names, typographical and orthographical errors, incorrect use of hybrid names and authorship, and errors in the citation of the bibliographic references have appeared in newly published literature in Korea, due to misapplications of ICBN (International Code of Botanical Nomenclature). Although literature review and synonyms are imperative and essential elements of taxonomic study, many author citations tend to be copied from one publication to another without any confirmation of the original source. It is strongly recommended that scientists who have previously published careless work should be more careful, and they should be instructed to read original descriptions and to learn current practices in the code.

Anatomical terms is very important for the whole medical area. In the past, medical student have confused with the anatomical terms which were base on Japanish-Chinese. So they have to be made easily for reading and learning. Fortunately the anatomical terms in Korean had completely made through the fourth edition. According to the oriental law and customs human dissection was prohibited, therefore human anatomy naturally undeveloped. In this study, on the view of the Korean terms carried out the comparison between oriental and western anatomical terms in osteology and splanchnology. The oriental anatomical terms expressed with only looking at and touching the part of the human body. The gross structure of the osteology, is similar to oriental and western medicine but there's no detailed nomenclature of the bone. Instead of it, they expressed connection to acupuncture point or disease in the human body. So it's difficult to find out the anatomical terms of the splanchnology like recent ones.

This paper examines the usefulness of a Brake Steer System(BSS), which uses differential brake forces for steering intervention in the context of Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS). In order to help the car to turn, a yaw moment control was achieved by altering the left/right and front/rear brake distribution. This resulting yaw moment on the vehicle affects lateral position thereby providing a limited steering function. The steering function achieved through BSS was used to control lateral position in an unintended road departure system. A 8-DOF nonlinear vehicle model including STI tire model was validated using the equations of motion of the vehicle. Then a controller was developed. This controller, which is a PID controller tuned by Ziegler-Nichols, is designed to explore BSS feasibility by modifying the brake distribution through the control of the yaw rate of the vehicle.

Ceruminous adenoma is a benign neoplasm of the ceruminous gland, and its development in human external auditory canal is very rare. Due to the limited number of cases, controversy still exists about nomenclature, classification, diagnosis and its treatment. Recently we experienced a 55 years old woman who was diagnosed with ceruminous adenoma of the external auditory canal, and who was treated with wide excision. So we report this uncommon case in combination with a review of the literature.
