In this paper, we present the design method of noise reduction circuit in telephonic system. The circuit consists of compressor, expander and a filter. The basic idea of a proposed method compresses the audible signal in order to mask the channel noise during transmission and then expand at the reverse rate the transmitted signal to naturally recover the original signal. Of course, there should be no distortion or other degradation of the audio itself in passing through companding(compress/expand) cycle. In the compressing process, the gain of compressor is automatically controlled by the envelope level of input signal in order to increase the effective dynamic range of input signal and to improve the signal to noise ratio. The compressed rate is the root time of a audible signal. The compressed signal should be expanded at the square time of the signal to recover a original signal. Simulation shows the proposed method improves the performance of the noise reduction of a channel noise as well as stability.

In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to remove acoustic feedback and noise in hearing aids. Instead of using the conventional FIR structure, this algorithm is a deep learning algorithm using neural network adaptive prediction filter to improve the feedback and noise reduction performance. The feedback canceller first removes the feedback signal from the microphone signal and then removes the noise using the Wiener filter technique. Noise elimination is to estimate the speech from the speech signal containing noise using the linear prediction model according to the periodicity of the speech signal. In order to ensure stable convergence of two adaptive systems in a loop, coefficient updates of the feedback canceller and noise canceller are separated and converged using the residual error signal generated after the cancellation. In order to verify the performance of the feedback and noise canceller proposed in this study, a simulation program was written and simulated. Experimental results show that the proposed deep learning algorithm improves the signal to feedback ratio(: SFR) of about 10 dB in the feedback canceller and the signal to noise ratio enhancement(: SNRE) of about 3 dB in the noise canceller than the conventional FIR structure.

In this study we evaluated that flow rate changes affect the (time of flight) TOF image and contrast-enhanced (CE) in a three-dimensional TOF angiography. We used a 3.0T MR System, a nonpulsatile flow rate model. Saline was used as a fluid injected at a flow rate of 11.4 cm/sec by auto injector. The fluid signal strength, phantom body signal strength and background signal strength were measured at 1, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25-th cross-section in the experienced images and then they were used to determine signal-to-noise ratio and contrast-to-noise ratio. The inlet, middle and outlet length were measured using coronal images obtained through the maximum intensity projection method. As a result, the length of inner cavity was 2.66 mm with no difference among the inlet, middle and outlet length. We also could know that the magnification rate is 49-55.6% in inlet part, 49-59% in middle part and 49-59% in outlet part, and so the image is generally larger than in the actual measurement. Signal-to-noise ratio and contrast-to-noise ratio were negatively correlated with the fluid velocity and so we could see that signal-to-noise ratio and contrast-to-noise ratio are reduced by faster fluid velocity. Signal-to-noise ratio was 42.2-52.5 in 5-25th section and contrast-to-noise ratio was from 34.0-46.1 also not different, but there was a difference in the 1st section. The smallest 3D TOF MRA measure was $2.51{\pm}0.12mm$ with a flow velocity of 40 cm/s. Consequently, 3D TOF MRA tests show that the faster fluid velocity decreases the signal-to-noise ratio and contrast-to-noise ratio, and basically it can be determined that 3D TOF MRA and 3D CE MRA are displayed larger than in the actual measurement.
A psychoacoustic model based noise shaping method is proposed. The method shapes the noise in the frequency domain such that its presence with a host signal will not be perceptually noticeable. The derivation of imperceptible noise levels from the masking thresholds of the signal involves deconvolution associated with the spreading function in the psychoacoustic model. It has been known as an ill-conditioned Problem. In this paper, a constrained optimization is applied such that the noise excitation level conforms to the masking thresholds of the signal. Thus, the noises embedded in the signal will not be perceived by human ear, and its performance is demonstrated experimentally.

A new speech enhancement algorithm for speech corrupted by slowly varying additive colored noise is suggested based on a state-space signal model. Due to the FIR structure and the unimportance of long-term past information, the receding horizon (RH) FIR filter known to be a best linear unbiased estimation (BLUE) filter is utilized in order to obtain noise-suppressed speech signal. As a special case of the colored noise problem, the suggested approach is generalized to perform the single blind signal separation of two speech signals. It is shown that the exact speech signal is obtained when an incoming speech signal is noise-free.
Conventional cepstrum has been widely used to detect echo and fault signals embedded in noise. One of the problems of finding impulse signals using the conventional cepstrum in that it is normally very sensitive to signal to noise ratio (SNR). This paper proposes a signal processing method to detect impulse signal in noisy environment. Because the proposed method minimizes the variance of signal power at a cepstrum domain, it is suggested to be called as minimum variance cepstrum (MV cepstrum). Computer simulations have been performed to understand the characteristics of the MV cepstrum. Both mathematical approach and computer simulations confirmed that the MV cepstrum is a useful technique to detect impulse in noisy environment.
Signal frequency lines generated from the acoustic targets are of particular importance for target detection and classification in passive sonar systems. The underwater noise consists of a mixture of ambient noise and radiated noise of targets. Detction of exact signal frequency lines depends on signal detection threshold and variation of ambient noise. In this paper, a detection method of signal frequency lines for acoustic targets using autoassociative memory (ASM) neural network, which is not sensitive to variation of signal detection threshold and ambient noise, is proposed. It is confirmed by simulation and application of real acoustic targets that the proposed method shows good performance for detection of signal frequency lines.
With the urbanization in recent years, the power line interference noise in electromagnetic signal is increasing day by day, and has gradually become an unavoidable component of noises in magnetotelluric signal detection. Therefore, a kind of power line interference noise elimination method based on independent component analysis in wavelet domain for magnetotelluric signal is put forward in this paper. The method first uses wavelet decomposition to change single-channel signal into multi-channel signal, and then takes advantage of blind source separation principle of independent component analysis to eliminate power line interference noise. There is no need to choose the layer number of wavelet decomposition and the wavelet base of wavelet decomposition according to the observed signal. On the treatment effect, it is better than the previous power line interference removal method based on independent component analysis. Through the de-noising processing to actual magnetotelluric measuring data, it is shown that this method makes both the apparent resistivity curve near 50 Hz and the phase curve near 50 Hz become smoother and steadier than before processing, i.e., it effectively eliminates the power line interference noise.

This paper proposes a new adaptive algorithm to cancel the acoustic feedback and noise signals in the binaural hearing aids. The convergence performances of the proposed algorithm are improved by updating coefficients of the feedback canceller after the speech signal is cancelled from the residual signal with dual microphones. The feedback canceller firstly cancels the feedback signal from the microphone signal, and then the noise canceller reduces the noise by the beamforming method. To assure that binaural hearing aids converge stably, the left-sided hearing aid only is converged firstly, next the right-sided hearing aid only is converged. To verify performances of the proposed algorithm, simulations were carried out for a speech. As the results of simulations, it was proved that we can advance 14.43dB SFR(Signal to Feedback Ratio) on the average for the feedback canceller, 10.19dB SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) improvement on the average for the noise canceller, in case that this algorithm is used.

Community noise has been great concerned in public. A traffic noise from a road or a railway has affected too mush damage on quiet living environment. In this paper, a measured noise signal on a street has been applied to extract a noise source and a path by using a complex cepstrum. An example shows that the waveform of the source and the path could be separated if a temporal windowing is properly applied.
