  • Network virtualization provides a promising tool to allow multiple heterogeneous virtual networks to run on a shared substrate network simultaneously. A long-standing challenge in network virtualization is the Virtual Network Embedding (VNE) problem: how to embed virtual networks onto specific physical nodes and links in the substrate network effectively. Recent research presents several heuristic algorithms that only consider single topological attribute of networks, which may lead to decreased utilization of resources. In this paper, we introduce six complementary characteristics that reflect different topological attributes, and propose three topology-aware VNE algorithms by leveraging the respective advantages of different characteristics. In addition, a new KS-core decomposition algorithm based on two characteristics is devised to better disentangle the hierarchical topological structure of virtual networks. Due to the overall consideration of topological attributes of substrate and virtual networks by using multiple characteristics, our study better coordinates node and link embedding. Extensive simulations demonstrate that our proposed algorithms improve the long-term average revenue, acceptance ratio, and revenue/cost ratio compared to previous algorithms.

  • The most salient and discussed features of speech production in agrammatic aphasia are the omission and substitution of grammatical morphemes. Cross-linguistic studies have shown that the pattern of omission/substitution is not random but occurs in a systematic and highly constrained way. Although these descriptions are important, they do not explain why all grammatical morphemes are not equally impaired. Friedmann and Grodzinsky (1997) proposed the Tree-Pruning Hypothesis (TPH) to account for these patterns of sparing and loss. The TPH claims that in an agrammatic representation, an impaired functional node is underspecified, thus allowing inappropriate affixation to occur. Additionally, whenever a node is impaired, all nodes above it will also be impaired. Using four types of narratives collected from two Korean agrammatic patients, We test the claim that the impairment in agrammatism is based on such hierarchical representation. It was found that these patients consistently produced appropriate grammatical morphemes that are higher in a syntactic tree than the impaired morphemes. The finding that an intact node exists higher than an impaired node refutes the TPH.

  • This paper introduces an active sensing node using radio-frequency (RF) telemetry. This device has brought the traditional impedance-based structural health monitoring (SHM) technique to a new paradigm. The RF active sensing node consists of a miniaturized impedance measuring device (AD5933), a microcontroller (ATmega128L), and a radio frequency (RF) transmitter (XBee). A macro-fiber composite (MFC) patch interrogates a host structure by using a self-sensing technique of the miniaturized impedance measuring device. All the process including structural interrogation, data acquisition, signal processing, and damage diagnostic is being performed at the sensor location by the microcontroller. The RF transmitter is used to communicate the current status of the host structure. The feasibility of the proposed SHM strategy is verified through an experimental study inspecting loose bolts in a bolt-jointed aluminum structure.

  • Correlation Propagation Neural Networks is proposed for On-line interpolation. The proposed neural network technique is the real time computation method through the inter-node diffusion. In the network, a node corresponds to a state in the quantized input space. Each node is composed of a processing unit and fixed weights from its neighbor nodes as well as its input terminal. Information propagates among neighbor nodes laterally and inter-node interpolation is achieved. Through several simulation experiments, real time reconstruction of the nonlinear image information is processed. 1-D CPNN hardware has been implemented with general purpose analog ICs to test the interpolation capability of the proposed neural networks. Experiments with static and dynamic signals have been done upon the CPNN hardware.

  • The proposed scheme minimizes the Idle time under the residual energy of the sensor node to adjust the Sleep-Wakeup period and minimize unnecessary energy consumption. It is The proposed scheme minimizes the Idle time under the residual energy of the sensor node to adjust the Sleep-Wakeup period and minimize unnecessary energy consumption. It is an important process to control the Application Packet Framework including the PHY and the MAC layer at each node's Idle time with the Idle time mechanism state before the proposed function is executed. The Current Control Level of the Report Attribute is fixed at one sending / receiving node where power consumption can occur, by changing Sleep-Wakeup time, the low power consumption efficiency was improved while satisfying the transmission requirement of the given delay time constraint.

The proposed neural network technique is the real time computation method through the inter-node diffusion, In the network, a node corresponds to a state in the quantized input space. Each node is composed of a processing unit and fixed weights from its neighbor nodes as well as its input terminal. The most reliable algorithm derived for real time recognition of map, is a dynamic programming based algorithm based on sequence matching techniques that would process the data as it arrives and could therefore provide continuously updated neighbor information estimates. Through several simulation experiments, real time reconstruction of the nonlinear map information is processed,

  • The state-of-the-art techniques of storing XML data, modeled as an XML tree, are node-based in the sense that they are centered around XML node labeling and the storage unit is an XML node. In this paper, we propose a generalization of such techniques so that the storage unit is an XML subtree that consists of one or more nodes. Despite several advantages with such generalization, a major problem would be inefficiency in XPath processing where the stored subtrees are to be parsed on the fly in order for the nodes inside them to be accessed. We solve this problem, proposing a technique whereby no parsing of the subtrees involved in XPath processing is needed at all unless they contain the nodes of the final query result. We prove that the correctness of XPath processing is guaranteed with our technique. Through implementation and experiments, we also show that the overhead of our technique is acceptable.
