A Study on Property Change with Mixing Ratio in NBR/PVC Composites

  • 10, 20, 30, and 40% of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) were added to nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) to modify the latter. The NBR/PVC composites containing pure NBR were synthesized to investigate properties, such as crosslinking density, hardness, tensile strength, abrasion resistance, heat resistance, solvent resistance, and filler dispersion. The experimental result revealed a decrease in crosslinking density and heat resistance with increase in the PVC content. In contrast, addition of PVC to NBR resulted in enhancement of hardness, tensile strength, solvent resistance, and filler dispersion.

  • A new method for synthesizing the tetrazole derivatives from secondary amines through cyanation/tetrazolation has been developed. Trichloroacetonitrile is used as the cyano source to synthesize N-nitrile instead of highly toxic and expensive cyanogen bromide. In this protocol, the reaction of secondary amines with various substituents proceed smoothly, and the desired tetrazole derivatives are obtained directly in fair to high yields without isolation of intermediate cyanamides.

  • In this experiment butadiene rubber(BR)/acrylonitrile butadiene rubber(NBR) blends was prepared and then the applicability of BR/NBR blends as printing rubber roller was examined. With the aid of open 2-roll mill, BR, NBR and another chemical additives were compounded. Then rubber vulcanizates were manufactured by hot press and maximum torque, Mooney viscosity, mechanical properties and oil resistance of the test specimens were measured. With prolonged oil aged treating time, BR/NBR blends became soft and so the hardness of blends decreased. It could be explained by the swelling of rubber matrix with oil penetration in to rubber molecules. The undesirable low value of oil resistance of BR was significantly improved by blending BR with NBR.

  • Amorphous carbon nitride thin films were prepared on pretreated silicon(100) substrate in sputtering graphite target by activated gas phase using RF reactively sputtering. We measured the FT-IR spectrum to identify C=N(nitrile)stretching mode(2200cm$\^$-1/), C-H stretching mode(2800cm$\^$-1/), C-H bending mode, C=C stretching mode C=N(imino) mode(1680cm$\^$-1/ ), and the XPS to investigate chemical structure of surface. By the results of FT-H and XPS spectrum, We confirmed that amorphous carbon nitride films with typel (C(1s): 285.9[eV], N(1s): 398.5[ev]) and type 2(C1s): 287.5[eV, N(1s): 400.2[eV]) successfully were synthesized by RF reactively sputtering

Reactivity of Superoxide Ion with Halogenonitriles and Dihalocarbons in Aprotic Media

  • The reactivity of superoxide ion (O2-.) with halogenated substrates is investigated by cyclic voltammetry and rotated ring-disk electrode method in aprotic solvents. The more positive the reduction potential of the substituted nitrile, the more facile is nucleophilic displacement by O2-.. The reaction rates of halogenonitriles with O2-. vary according to the leaving-group propensity of halide (Br > Cl > F). The relative reaction rates of other substituted nitriles are in the order of electron-withdrawing propensity of the substituent group (CN > C(O)NH2 > Ph ≒ CH2CN). The reaction of O2-. with dihalocarbons indicates that five-membered rings can be rapidly formed by the cyclization of substrate and O2-., and the relative rates of cyclization depend on the number of methylenic carbons {Br(CH2)nBr, [n=1 < 2 < 3 > 4 > 5]}. Mechanisms are proposed for the reaction of O2-. with halogenated substrates.

  • It has been found that $\alpha, \beta$-unsaturated nitrile derivatives 1-3 reached with S- methylisothiourea to give the prpone derivatives 4-6 respectively. Cyclisation of 4-6 using ethanolic hydrochloric acid afforded the pyridine derivatives 7-9 in good yields. On the other hand, the reactions of hydrazine hydrate and of phenylhydrazine with each of 7-9 gave the corresponding pyrazolopyridine derivatives 10-15. The structures of the newly synthesised derivatives were assigned on the basis of elemental analyses, IR and $^1H$-NMR spectral data studies.

상업용 정밀여과/한외여과막의 특성 분석 및 해수 여과 성능 평가 (Characterization and Seawater Filtration Performance of Commerical Microfiltration and Ultrafiltration Membranes)

  • 본 연구는 국내에서 상용화된 3 종류의 친수성 정밀여과막/한외여과막을 대상으로 막의 특성분석 및 해수 여과 성능 평가를 수행하였다. 접촉각 측정 결과에서는 PAN 재질인 Mem-3가 가장 친수성도가 높은 것으로 나타나 장기간 운전 시 유기성 오염 물질에 가장 내오염성이 높을 것으로 예상된다. FESEM 측정결과에서는 PE 재질인 Mem-1과 PVDF 재질인 Mem-2는 sponge 형태의 단면을 보였으며, PAN 재질인 Mem-3는 finger 형태의 단면을 나타냈다. EDS에 의한 막의 원소분석 결과에서 Mem-2는 Fluoride가 대부분이었고 Mem-3는 PAN이 Nitrile기로 인해 N이 32.47%의 높은 구성 비율을 보였다. D.I. water를 이용한 투과수량 분석은 압력 증가 시 Mem-3의 투과수량이 다른 막에 비해 큰 폭으로 증가되는 경향을 보였다. 탁도 및 부유물질 제거 실험은 모든 막에서 유출수의 탁도는 0.191-0.406 NTU, TSS는 2.2-3.0 mg/L 사이의 투과수질을 보여 단기간 실험으로부터 해수담수화 전처리용으로 사용하기에는 부적합하다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

고온 엔진오일용 내열성 발포부표 제조 기술 (Preparation Technique of Thermostable Foam-Floater for High Temperature Engine Oil)

  • 일반 휘발유 및 LPG용 자동차와 각종 유량계기 등에 사용되는 국산 부표는 $150^{\circ}C$ 이상의 엔진오일에 장시간 띄워 놓으면 연료의 침투로 인하여 중량과 부피의 변화로 외관이 팽창하거나 조직이 이완된다. 본 연구에서는 고온에서도 중량 및 부피의 변화(3% 이내)가 적으며 내유성 및 내열성을 갖는 고온 엔진 오일용 발포부표 제조에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 부표의 기본 재료인 NBR을 HNBR로 대체하여 제조한 TROF II-3은 고온($150^{\circ}C$)의 오일에 100 h 동안 띄워 놓은 경우에 2.90%의 중량 변화율과 2.56%의 부피 변화율을 나타내었다. 또한, 무게와 부피 변화는 NBR을 사용한 경우(TROF I-3)보다 $150^{\circ}C$에서 각각 10.81%, 3.08%로 더 작은 변화율을 나타내었다. TROF II-3은 고온의 오일에서 중량과 부피에 대한 변화가 작고 제품의 외관과 비중도 일정하게 유지되므로 고온의 엔진오일용 부표로서 적합한 것으로 판단된다.

A Comparison Study on Reinforcement Behaviors of Functional Fillers in Nitrile Rubber Composites

  • To investigate the reinforcing effects of functional fillers in nitrile rubber (NBR) materials, high-structure carbon black (HS45), coated calcium carbonate (C-CaCO3), silica (200MP), and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were used as functional filler, and carbon black (SRF) as a common filler were used for oil-resistant rubber. The curing and mechanical properties of HS45-, 200MP-, and MWCNT-filled NBR compounds were improved compared to those of the SRF-filled NBR compound. The reinforcing effect also increased with a decrease in the particle size of the fillers. The C-CaCO3-filled NBR compound exhibited no reinforcing effect with increasing filler concentration because of their large primary particle size (2 ㎛). The reinforcing behavior based on 100% modulus of the functional filler based NBR compounds was compared by using several predictive equation models. The reinforcing behavior of the C-CaCO3-filled NBR compound was in accordance with the Smallwood-Einstein equation whereas the 200MP- and MWCNT-filled NBR compounds fitted well with the modified Guth-Gold (m-Guth-Gold) equation. The SRF- and HS45-filled NBR compounds exhibited reinforcing behavior in accordance with the Guth-Gold and m-Guth-Gold equations, respectively, at a low filler content. However, the values of reinforcement parameter (100Mf/100Mu) of the SRF- and HS45-filled NBR compounds were higher than those determined by the predictive equation model at a high filler content. Because the chains of SRF composed of spherical filler particles are similarly changed to rod-like filler particles embedded in a rubber matrix and the reinforcement parameter rapidly increased with a high content of HS45, the higher-structured filler. The reinforcing effectiveness of the functional fillers was numerically evaluated on the basis of the effectiveness index (��SRF/��f) determined by the ratio of the volume fraction of the functional filler (��f) to that of the SRF filler (��SRF) at three unit of reinforcing parameter (100Mf/100Mu). On the basis of their effectiveness index, MWCNT-, 200MP-, and HS45-filled compounds showed higher reinforcing effectiveness of 420%, 70%, and 20% than that of SRF-filled compound, respectively whereas C-CaCO3-filled compound exhibited lower reinforcing effectiveness of -50% than that of SRF-filled compound.
