Machine Learning is a process of using computer algorithms to extract information from raw data to solve complex problems in a data-rich environment. It has been used in the construction industry by both academics and practitioners for multiple applications to improve the construction process. The Construction Industry Institute, a leading construction research organization has twenty-five years of experience in benchmarking capital projects in the industry. The organization is at an advantage to develop useful machine learning applications because it possesses enormous real construction data. Its benchmarking programs have been actively used by owner and contractor companies today to assess their capital projects' performance. A credible benchmarking program requires statistically valid data without subjective interference in the program administration. In developing the next-generation benchmarking program, the Data Warehouse, the organization aims to use machine learning algorithms to minimize human effort and to enable rapid data ingestion from diverse sources with data validity and reliability. This research effort uses a focus group comprised of practitioners from the construction industry and data scientists from a variety of disciplines. The group collaborated to identify the machine learning requirements and potential applications in the program. Technical and domain experts worked to select appropriate algorithms to support the business objectives. This paper presents initial steps in a chain of what is expected to be numerous learning algorithms to support high-performance computing, a fully automated performance benchmarking system.
To measure the wear amount of the TBM disk cutter in real time, it is important not only to automate the measurement using sensors, but also to stably transmit the measured data to the information processing system. In this study, we investigated the viability of utilizing Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to wirelessly transmit sensor data from the TBM cutter head to a receiver located at the chamber's rear. Through laboratory experiments, we analyzed the Received Signal Strength Index (RSSI) of the receiver considering various signal strength of the transmitter, separation distances between the transmitter and receiver and chamber fill materials. Our results demonstrate that wireless data transmission is feasible across all tested conditions when the transmitter signal strength is 0 dBm or higher.

The goal of next generation digital broadcasting is offering the interaction among consumers and providers as well as variety services. One of the important factors for this new broadcasting environment keeps the interoperability among providers and consumers since the environment is distributed. Therefore a standard metadata for digital broadcasting is required and TV-Anytime metadata is one of the metadata standards for digital broadcasting. The terminal nodes of TV-Anytime metadata are defined by using MPEG-7 metadata. MPEG-7 metadata is standard metadata for describing multimedia content. Therefore, if we use the MPEG-7 metadata for describing broadcasting content can offer multimedia search services like content-based search by the extension of metadata. The efficient management system for these metadata is important for offering the services with high Duality on real broadcasting environment TV-Anytime metadata and MPEG-7 metadata are technically defined using a single XML schema, so its instances are XML data. Currently, a lot of systemsfor managing XML data are proposed in many researchers and we can expect to adapt these systems for managing broadcasting metadata. But the methods used in these systems are not specific methods for managing broadcasting metadata because of methods for general-purpose. In this paper, we find the properties of broadcasting metadata and develop an efficient metadata management system that is based on the found properties. Since our systemis implemented on real broadcasting environment, we expect that the system is most efficient and suitable. Also our system is interoperable since we use XQuery as query language for querying broadcasting metadata.

The expansion of the physical road in response to changes in social conditions and policy of the country has reached the limit. In order to alleviate congestion on the existing road to reconsider the effectiveness of this method should be asking. Currently, how to collect traffic information for management of the intersection is limited to point detection systems. Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) was the traffic information collection system of point detection method such as through video and loop detector in the past. However, intelligent transportation systems of the next generation(C-ITS) has evolved rapidly in real time interval detection system of collecting various systems between the pedestrian, road, and car. Therefore, this study is designed to evaluate the development of an algorithm for queue length based real-time traffic signal control methodology. Four coordinates estimate on time-space diagram using the travel time each individual vehicle collected via the interval detector. Using the coordinate value estimated during the cycle for estimating the velocity of the shock wave the queue is created. Using the queue length is estimated, and determine the signal timing the total queue length is minimized at intersection. Therefore, in this study, it was confirmed that the calculation of the signal timing of the intersection queue is minimized.
The explosive growth of next-generation sequencing data has resulted in ultra-large-scale datasets and ensuing computational problems. In Korea, the amount of genomic data has been increasing rapidly in the recent years. Leveraging these big data requires researchers to use large-scale computational resources and analysis pipelines. A promising solution for addressing this computational challenge is cloud computing, where CPUs, memory, storage, and programs are accessible in the form of virtual machines. Here, we present a cloud computing-based system, Bio-Express, that provides user-friendly, cost-effective analysis of massive genomic datasets. Bio-Express is loaded with predefined multi-omics data analysis pipelines, which are divided into genome, transcriptome, epigenome, and metagenome pipelines. Users can employ predefined pipelines or create a new pipeline for analyzing their own omics data. We also developed several web-based services for facilitating downstream analysis of genome data. There are many difficulties to develop a mobile contents due to many constraints on mobile environments. It is difficult to make a good mobile contents with only visual reduction of existing contents on wire Internet. Therefore, it is essential to devise the data representation and to develop the authoring tool to meet the needs of the mobile contents market. We suggest the compact mobile contents to learn Chinese characters and developed its authoring tool. The animation which our system produces is realistic as if someone writes letters with pen or brush. Moreover, our authoring tool makes a user generate a Chinese character animation easily and rapidly although she or he has not many knowledge in computer graphics, mobile programming or Chinese characters. The method to generate the stroke animation is following: We take basic character shape information represented with several contours from TTF(TrueType Font) and get the information for the stroke segmentation and stroke ordering from simple user input. And then, we decompose whole character shape into some strokes by using polygonal approximation technique. Next, the stroke animation for each stroke is automatically generated by the scan line algorithm ordered by the stroke direction. Finally, the ordered scan lines are compressed into some integers by reducing coordinate redundancy As a result, the stroke animation of our system is even smaller than GIF animation. Our method can be extended to rendering and animation of Hangul or general 2D shape based on vector graphics. We have the plan to find the method to automate the stroke segmentation and ordering without user input.
Republic of Korea has established 'Transmission and Reception for Terrestrial UHDTV Broadcasting Service' standard based on ATSC 3.0, the next-generation broadcasting standard in North America and is now providing commercial services. Republic of Korea has been studying terrestrial UHDTV based disaster broadcasting service using the ATSC 3.0 AEA system's technology since 2018. ATSC 3.0 has established a standard for expanding disaster broadcasting services, which were used to be simple push-type text message broadcasting, by introducing bidirectional and rich-media transporting mechanisms. However, the disaster information is still focused on the general public, and disaster broadcasting service including detailed information for the vulnerable are still insufficient. In this paper, we proposed the optimized disaster broadcasting service for vulnerable populations based on ATSC 3.0 after defined the disaster vulnerable populations as the target of the service. And we defined the extension element of disaster broadcasting message for service provision. The proposed service can be an effective means to increase the possibility of disaster information reception and evacuation to vulnerable populations. In addition, it is expected to be used as a basic research for development of diverse and effective advanced services for vulnerable populations through linkage with existing disaster alerting and countermeasures studies.
The advent of 5G mobile communications, which is expected in 2020, will provide many services such as Internet of Things (IoT) and vehicle-to-infra/vehicle/nomadic (V2X) communication. There are many requirements to realizing these services: reduced latency, high data rate and reliability, and real-time service. In particular, a high level of reliability and delay sensitivity with an increased data rate are very important for M2M, IoT, and Factory 4.0. Around the world, 5G standardization organizations have considered these services and grouped them to finally derive the technical requirements and service scenarios. The first scenario is broadcast services that use a high data rate for multiple cases of sporting events or emergencies. The second scenario is as support for e-Health, car reliability, etc.; the third scenario is related to VR games with delay sensitivity and real-time techniques. Recently, these groups have been forming agreements on the requirements for such scenarios and the target level. Various techniques are being studied to satisfy such requirements and are being discussed in the context of software-defined networking (SDN) as the next-generation network architecture. SDN is being used to standardize ONF and basically refers to a structure that separates signals for the control plane from the packets for the data plane. One of the best examples for low latency and high reliability is an intelligent traffic system (ITS) using V2X. Because a car passes a small cell of the 5G network very rapidly, the messages to be delivered in the event of an emergency have to be transported in a very short time. This is a typical example requiring high delay sensitivity. 5G has to support a high reliability and delay sensitivity requirements for V2X in the field of traffic control. For these reasons, V2X is a major application of critical delay. V2X (vehicle-to-infra/vehicle/nomadic) represents all types of communication methods applicable to road and vehicles. It refers to a connected or networked vehicle. V2X can be divided into three kinds of communications. First is the communication between a vehicle and infrastructure (vehicle-to-infrastructure; V2I). Second is the communication between a vehicle and another vehicle (vehicle-to-vehicle; V2V). Third is the communication between a vehicle and mobile equipment (vehicle-to-nomadic devices; V2N). This will be added in the future in various fields. Because the SDN structure is under consideration as the next-generation network architecture, the SDN architecture is significant. However, the centralized architecture of SDN can be considered as an unfavorable structure for delay-sensitive services because a centralized architecture is needed to communicate with many nodes and provide processing power. Therefore, in the case of emergency V2X communications, delay-related control functions require a tree supporting structure. For such a scenario, the architecture of the network processing the vehicle information is a major variable affecting delay. Because it is difficult to meet the desired level of delay sensitivity with a typical fully centralized SDN structure, research on the optimal size of an SDN for processing information is needed. This study examined the SDN architecture considering the V2X emergency delay requirements of a 5G network in the worst-case scenario and performed a system-level simulation on the speed of the car, radius, and cell tier to derive a range of cells for information transfer in SDN network. In the simulation, because 5G provides a sufficiently high data rate, the information for neighboring vehicle support to the car was assumed to be without errors. Furthermore, the 5G small cell was assumed to have a cell radius of 50-100 m, and the maximum speed of the vehicle was considered to be 30-200 km/h in order to examine the network architecture to minimize the delay.
Biometric authentication is rising technology for the security market of the next generation. But most of biometric systems are developed using only one of various biological features. Recently, there is a vigorous research for the standardization of various biometric systems. In this paper, we propose a web-based authentication system using three other verifiers based on functional, parametric, and structural approaches for one biometrics of handwritten signature, which is conformable to a specification of BioAPI introduced by BioAPI Consortium for a standardization of biometric technology. This system is developed with a client-server structure, and clients and servers consist of three layers according to the BioAPI structure. The proposed neb-based multiple authentication system of one biometrics can be used to highly increase confidence degree of authentication without additional several biological measurements, although rejection rate is a little increased. That is, the false accept rate(FAR) decreases on the scale of about 1:40,000, although false reject rate(FRR) increases about 2.7 times in the case of combining above three signature verifiers. So the proposed approach can be used as an effective identification method on the internet of an open network. Also, it can be easily extended to a security system using multimodal biometrics.

This paper aims to evaluate the freeway traffic management Strategy based on exTMS according to traffic situation of freeway. As freeway user's demands increase, we thus need future-oriented and optimized traffic management. So, through improving the existing system and introducing the advanced system, these systems evaluate for not only preparing the application in real world but also preliminary feasibility. To evaluate effects of the traffic management based on exTMS, in this study, shoulder LCS, advanced VMS(assumption in it is improving next-generation system which it can be offering diverse dynamic traffic information), Ramp-metering system are applicated in simulation. In addition, this study evaluates the effect when all proposed systems are applicated, and compare the individual effect of when independent system is applicated, through considering about traffic condition of V/C=0.5, V/C=0.8, V/C=1.2. The study results show that all assumed cases, the travel speed were improved according to the increasing V/C. Furthermore, the results of evaluated the individual system show that the shoulder LCS was found to be the largest effect, and the effect of VMS(detour rate is 11%) is larger than the other cases.
