  • Holographic Data Storage System (HDSS), one of the next generation data storage devices, is a 2-dimensional page oriented memory system using volume hologram. HDSS has many noise sources such as crosstalk, scattering and inter pixel interference, etc. The noise source is changing intensity of the light used for carrying the data signal in HDSS. The inter pixel interference results in decrease of Signal to Noise Ratio and increase of Bit Error Rate. In order to improve these problems, this paper proposes to compensate the inter pixel interference with simple interference mask.

  • The paper describes a design process of the connection control function that performs overall procedures of optical network control system in the Next Generation - Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (NG-SDH) based transport system. Here, the NG-SDH means a new SDH technology that could perform automatic connection control with a granularity of VC-3 (about 50M) or VC-4 (about 150M) according to the increase and decrease of traffic, which is different from the existing technology that could perform connection control only with a granularity of a physical SDH link (STM-l, STM-4, STM-16, STM-64, STM-256 etc). The NG-SDH based connection control allows an ingress NG-SDH node to control the appropriate connection establishment process according to connection types such as Permanent Connection (PC), Soft Permanent Connection (SPC), Switched Connection (SC) over various SDH and Ethernet line cards.

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) technology allows devices connected to the Internet to exchange information without human intervention, and to provide useful services to people. Currently, garbage trucks are regularly dispatched to collect garbage. In such a case, garbage may be less than half of the garbage collection capacity in some area, and garbage may be exceeded in another area so that garbage trucks can not collect all at once. In this paper, we have studied the method of estimating the amount of garbage to be collected and describe the development contents of the product and management system. The prediction of garbage volume was made possible by using IoT technology to measure the volume of garbage in real time. In addition, the measurement values are visibly displayed through the dashboard, so that the amount of garbage generated can be predicted and managed. This will allow IoT technology to help keep street hygiene.

  • In the near future we can expect a change in charging the Internet service. The flat charging maybe replaced with a usage-based charging. In line with this movement, we propose a method of charging the assured-quality Internet services for the next generation network by introducing a UBC (usage-based charging) scheme over the conventional flat charging platform. First, we investigate the attribute of elastic traffic generated by assured services in IP network. Next, we propose a new method to relate the bandwidth usage with the pricing for the elastic traffic, which is based partially on the usage rate of the network bandwidth. Next, we propose a charging function for elastic traffic, which is applicable to any type of assured Internet services. Finally, we discuss the implication of the work via simple numerical experiments.

  • Automatic large scale soil model generation is very critical stage for earthquake hazard simulation of urban areas. Manual model development may cause some data losses and may not be effective when there are too many data from different soil observations in a wide area. Geographic information systems (GIS) for storing and analyzing spatial data help scientists to generate better models automatically. Although the original soil observations were limited to soil profile data, the recent developments in mapping technology, interpolation methods, and remote sensing have provided advanced soil model developments. Together with advanced computational technology, it is possible to handle much larger volumes of data. The scientists may solve difficult problems of describing the spatial variation of soil. In this study, an algorithm is proposed for automatic three dimensional soil and velocity model development of southern part of the European side of Istanbul next to Sea of Marmara based on GIS data. In the proposed algorithm, firstly bedrock surface is generated from integration of geological and geophysical measurements. Then, layer surface contacts are integrated with data gathered in vertical borings, and interpolations are interpreted on sections between the borings automatically. Three dimensional underground geology model is prepared using boring data, geologic cross sections and formation base contours drawn in the light of these data. During the preparation of the model, classification studies are made based on formation models. Then, 3D velocity models are developed by using geophysical measurements such as refraction-microtremor, array microtremor and PS logging. The soil and velocity models are integrated and final soil model is obtained. All stages of this algorithm are carried out automatically in the selected urban area. The system directly reads the GIS soil data in the selected part of urban area and 3D soil model is automatically developed for large scale earthquake hazard simulation studies.

A New Camera System Implementation for Realistic Media-based Contents (실감미디어 기반의 콘텐츠를 위한 카메라 시스템의 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose a new system which captures real depth and color information from natural scene and implemented it. Based on it, we produced stereo and multiview images for 3-dimensional stereoscopic contents and introduced the production of a digital hologram which is considered to the next-generation image. The system consists of both a camera system for capturing images which correspond to RGB and depth images and softwares (SWs) for various image processings which consist of pre-processing such as rectification and calibration, 3D warping, and computer generated hologram (CGH). The camera system use a vertical rig with two paris of depth and RGB camera and a specially manufactured cold mirror which has the different transmittance according to wavelength for obtaining images with the same view point. The wavelength of our mirror is about 850nm. Each algorithm was implemented using C and C++ and the implemented system can be operated in real-time.

  • For the foundational study on automatic review of the barrier free Environment certification for the socially disadvantaged using BIM modeling information, we first confirm the need of the automatic review by analyzing the barrier free Environment certification an by investigating the existing studies on barrier free Environment certification. After that, we select a primary approach for our research by investigating the related works such as automatic review of the building code. As a next step, we generate the BIM modeling information, extract the classification system, analyze and extract items in the barrier free Environment certification according the extracted system, compares the items with the BIM generation information, and allocate them. And, we showed the potential usability of automatic review by deriving a process to prepare the ruleset structure for the automatic review and to prepare a criteria for BIM modeling guide.

  • InfiniBand is a switched-fabric architecture for next generation I/O systems and data centers. The InfiniBand Architecture (IBA) promises to replace bus-based architectures, such as PCI, with a switched-based fabric whose benefits include higher performance, higher RAS (reliability, availability, scalability), and the ability to create modular networks of servers and shared I/O devices. The switched-fabric InfiniBand consists of InfiniBand subnets with channel adapters, switches, and routers. In order to fully grasp the operational characteristics of InfiniBand architecture (IBA) and use them in ongoing design specification, simulation of subnet management of IBA is inevitable. In this paper, thus, we implement an IBA simulator and test some practical sample networks using it. The simulator shows the flow of operation by which the correctness and effectiveness of the system can be verified.

  • This paper describes on the analysis of morphemes and it's synthesis being constituted of Korean word phrases. To analyze morphemes, we propose the introduction of "morph" for morpheme features in lexicon and the usage of chart data structures. it controls over the generation of unnecessary morpheme, and extracts every possible morpheme unit in a word phrase which minimized lexicon investigation by using heuristic information. Moreover, to synthesize morphemes, it is composed of every possible analyzed morphemes in word phrases to take advantage of speech and union information which can be obtained for program. Therefore, the systhesis of analyzed morphemes were designed to aid a syntactic analysis next step of natural language processing. This system for analyzing and systhesizing morpheme was to generate a word phrase by unifying syntactic and semantic features of analyzed morphemes in lexicon, and then established by C language of the personal computer.

  • In this paper, Blockchain is mentioned as the next-generation core IT technology. As an immature technology, there are not many practical use cases, but it is expected to be widely applied in various industries such as cryptocurrency, finance, public, etc. to increase efficiency and enable new services that did not exist in the past. Nevertheless, the generalization of blockchain technology is still difficult. In particular, from the viewpoint of personal information protection, GDPR of Europe, etc., is becoming stronger. Considering that the core of the blockchain is the change of information sharing and processing method, it is very important how the blockchain can affect, especially from the viewpoint of privacy, and how the Privacy Act can be applied to the blockchain. However, the discussion on this part also seems to be insufficient. Therefore, in this paper, blockchain By analyzing the implications and implications of technologies and services using them from the perspective of the Privacy Act, we will discuss how the blockchain will be used to prevent leakage of privacy.
