  • Shingled module shows high ratio active area per total area due to more efficient packing without inactive space between cells. The module is fabricated by connecting the pre-cut cells into the string using electrically conductive adhesives (ECA). ECAs are used for electric and structural connections to fabricate the shingled modules. In this work, we investigated a correlation between ECA peel strength and the efficiency of pre-cut 5 cells module which are fabricated according to ECA interconnection conditions. The curing conditions are varied to determine whether ECA interconnection properties can affect module properties. As a result of the peel test, the highest peel strength was 1.27 N/mm in the condition of 170℃, the lowest peel strength was 0.89 N/mm in the condition of 130℃. The efficiency was almost constant regardless of the curing conditions at an average of 20%. However, the standard deviation of the fill factor increased as the adhesive strength decreased.

  • This thesis develops a more realistic and applicable new set covering model that is adjusted and supplied by the existing set covering models, and induces an algorithm for solving the new set covering model, and applies the new model and the algorithm to an actual set covering problems. The new set covering model introduces a probabilistic covering aistance ($0{\eqslantless}p{\eqslantless}1$)or time($0{\eqslantless}p{\eqslantless}1$) instead of a deterministic covering distance(0 or 1) or time (0 or 1) of the existing set covering model. The existing set covering model has not considered the merit of the overcover of customers. But this new set covering model leads a concept of this overcover to a concept of the parallel system reliability. The algorithm has been programmed on the UNIVAC 9030 for solving large-scale covering problems. An application of the new set covering model is presented in order to determine the locations of the air surveillance radars as a set covering problem for a case-study.

  • Importance and usage of the recommender system increases with the increase of information. The accuracy of the system recommendation primarily depends on the data. There is a problem in recommender systems, known as cold start problem. The lack of data about new products and users causes the cold start problem, and the system will not be able to give correct recommendation. This paper deals with cold start problem by comparing product specification and the review of the resembled products. The user, who likes the resembled product of the new one has more probability of taking interest in the new product as well. However, if a user disagreed with resembled product due to some reasons which the user mentioned in the reviews. The new product overcomes that issue, so the user will greatly accept the new product. Therefore, the system needs to recommend new product to those users as well, in this way the cold start problem will get resolved.

  • This paper describes the Blue Ocean Strategy and Business TRIZ (Russian Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) Tactics as one method for knowledge creation and innovation. The opening new market avoiding keen competition is very popular recently and is not just prosper, but survival problem. As one new strategy for finding new market, the Blue Ocean Strategy gives the big blueprint for new market, but has no enough tools to make more concrete ideas. In this paper, we suggest using the Strategy Campus and other tools in the Blue Ocean Strategy at initial stage and then, compensating the TRIZ principles to make more concrete ideas for new market as tactics. We applied it to find the new market for conventional newspaper industry and EBS (Education Broadcast System) management innovation in Korea as case studies and got better results comparing to using only the Blue Ocean Strategy.

  • A new site classification system and site coefficients based on local site conditions in Korea were developed and implemented as a part of minimum design load requirements for general seismic design. The new site classification system adopted bedrock depth and average shear wave velocity of soil above the bedrock as parameters for site classification. These code provisions were passed through a public hearing process before it was enacted. The public hearing process recommended to modify the naming of site classes and adjust the amplification factors so that the level of short-period amplification is suitable for economical seismic design. In this paper, the new code provisions were assessed using dynamic centrifuge tests and by comparing the design response spectra (DRS) with records from 2016 Gyeongju earthquake, the largest earthquake in history of instrumental seismic observation in Korea. The dynamic centrifuge tests were performed to simulate the representative Korean site conditions, such as shallow depth to bedrock and short-period amplification characteristics, and the results corroborated with the new DRS. The Gyeongju earthquake records also showed good agreement with the DRS. In summary, the new code provisions are reliable for representing the site amplification characteristic of shallow bedrock condition in Korea.

  • Candoninae is the most diverse group of freshwater ostracods with over 300 living species described from all around the world. However, only 11 species have been reported from South Korea. Considering abundant freshwater ecosystems here this number is very low. It is no wonder that newly collected samples of freshwater meiofauna often contain Candoninae ostracods which are new records for South Korea, or new taxa. Earicandona mounchyon gen. nov. sp. nov. and Typhlocypris (Pseudocandona) pratensis (Hartwig, 1901) were collected from two open freshwater bodies in Gangwon-do, and Gyeongsangbuk-do in South Korea. The new genus is most closely related to the breuili-group of Fabaeformiscandona Krstic, 1972. The most important apomorphic character of the new genus is a hemipenis with a poorly sclerified lobe "g", and prehensile palps with more rounded dorsal margins. Beside the new species, Earicandona contains only E. okuboi (Smith & Janz, 2008) comb. nov. from Lake Biwa. This species was originally described in Fabaeformiscandona, fabaeformis-group. They differ mostly in the morphology of the shell, but also some details of soft body, including the more pronounced genital process in the Korean species. Typhlocypris pratensis was so far known from Europe and this finding significantly broadens its area of distribution. Both Typhlocypris and Earicandona belong to the tribe Candonini and the key to the genera of this tribe is also presented here.

  • In terms of the vehicle efficiency, a fuel cell hybrid system has advantages compared to a conventional internal combustion engine and a fuel cell alone-powered system. The efficiency of the fuel cell hybrid vehicle mainly depends on the maximum power of the fuel cell and therefore it is important to decide the design value of the fuel cell maximum power. In this paper, to estimate the performance of the fuel cell hybrid mini-bus in the design phase the simulator based on the models for the fuel cell stack, the electric battery, the fuel cell balance of plant, the controller, and the vehicle itself is proposed. Additionally, the hybrid mini-bus efficiencies with several different fuel cell powers are simulated for a city driving schedule and are compared on another. Consequently, the proposed simulation scheme is useful to determine the best design value of the fuel cell hybrid vehicles.
