  • Three marine isopods, Symmius yamaguchiensis Shimomura, 2008, Colanthura pigmentata Kensley, 1980 and Synidotea nipponensis Nunomura, 1985 are reported for the first time in South Korea. The family Chaetiliidae, and genera Symmius and Colanthura are new to South Korea. We provide descriptions of the diagnostic characteristics, illustrations of three species and their partial sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (CO1) for molecular characteristics.

The former is the only member of the genus recorded in Korea. The latter extends its range from Tai Nan, northward to the central East China Sea. Brief comments on to fisheries interests and coloration are given for the two species.

  • Two species, Plectiscus impurator Gravenhorst and Stenomacrus laticollis(Holmgren), of the subfamily Orthocentrinae are newly recognized from South Korea. This subfamily Orthocentrinae was represented in South Korea as 17 species belonging to four genera until now. In this paper, two additional species belonging to two genera are recorded for the first time from South Korea. Diagnoses of genera and two unrecorded species, illustrations of diagnostic characters are provided.

  • Two feather mites, Bychovskiata hypoleuci Mironov and Ddabert, 1997 and Phyllochaeta interifolia (Mégnin and Trouessart, 1884) are reported for the first time in South Korea. Specimens of these two species were collected from the common sandpiper Actitis hypoleucos. The genera Bychovskiata Dubinin, 1951 and Phyllochaeta Dubinin, 1951 are also new reports for South Korea. Here, we provide morphological descriptions and illustrations of these two species. Additionally, we provide partial sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I(COI) as DNA barcodes.

  • Holothuria pericax Selenka, 1867 belonging to the family Holothuriidae in the order Aspirochirotida of the subclass Aspidochirotacea is new to Korean fauna. This species was redescribed with figures based on the specimen collected at 16 m deep in north-west Munseom, Seogwipo. A key to the genus was presented. Fifteen species of holothuroids have so far been reported in Jejudo Island of Korea.

  • The genus Opius Wesmael, 1835 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Opiinae) generally parasitizes larvae of Agromyzidae, Anthomyiidae, Drosophilidae, Tephritidae, Ephydridae and Cecidomyiidae, of which 32 species are recorded in South Korea. In China, seven new species of the genus Opius have been known. Among them, Opius crenuliferus Li & van Achterberg, 2013 is reported for the first time in South Korea. Specimen was collected by sweeping in West Daeshin-dong, Busan, Korea. In this study, description, and diagnostic illustration of O. crenuliferus are provided.

  • Rhododendron keiskei Miq. var. hypoglaucum Suto & Suzuki (Ericaceae) was found in Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, Korea. This species is distinguished from related taxa in Korea by lepidote hairs entire, flower-bud terminal, inflorescences umbel-like racemes, corolla lepidot outside, white tinged with yellow. This taxon was named 'Seom-Jin-Dal-Lae' in Korean based on its habitat. We provide its description, illustrations, photographs and a key of related taxa in Korea.

  • A taxonomic study of the family Electridae Stach, 1937 (Bryozoa: Cheilostomatida) was carried out using materials collected from six localities of Korea from 1984 to 2021. Aspidelectra melolontha (Landsborough, 1852) is newly added to the bryozoan fauna of Korea, and Electra jindoica n. sp. is new to science. European A. melolontha is known to occur in brackish water of low salinity, but the species is found in New Zealand and Argentina seawater. This species is also reported as a fouling bryozoan from China and New Zealand. Electra jindoica n. sp. is distinguished by smaller zooid, larger kenozooid, and developed cryptocyst from E. asiatica Grischenko, Dick and Mawatari, 2007. With the addition of two species reported herein, six species and four genera of Electridae from Korea have been recorded: Aspidelectra melolontha, Arbopercula tenella, Conopeum hexagonum, C. reticulum, C. seurati, and Electra jindoica n. sp. Furthermore, the genera Aspidelectra and Electra are new to the Korean bryozoan fauna based on this study.
