  • In the Republic of Korea, mathematics has always been a major blame for huge private expenditures on so-called "private education," which consists of private tutoring and lessons at "private academies of extra curricula." The private spending on out-of-school education often exceeded public expenditures on schools. In 1997, South Korean Ministry of Education reformed curriculum of mathematics along with other subjects to ease the burden of private education. The aim of this curriculum change was to put a boost on individual students' interests, affections and other attributes toward school mathematics. The essential distinctiveness of the new curriculum of mathematics compared with the previous one is as follows: 1. The implementation of so-called "differentiated curriculum" for grades 1-10. 2. 30% reduction of contents in mathematics and the reconciliation of contents. 3. Elective subjects for mathematics for grades 11 and 12. 4. More uses of technology in mathematics teaching. Firstly, we examine the background of the curriculum reform and analyze the new curriculum according to awareness of educational administrators, teaching environments of schools and readiness of mathematics teachers. Then we find out what kinds of problems it has and look for some suggestions for remedies.

  • No organization can survive in today's modern society of information and high technology without internet and/or intranet. International convention industry is one of many high-technology dependent fields today which have started gathering new attention since the new millennium had begun. According to our survey, no professional convention organizer has used so far any type of integrated information system which is the vital source of support of the convention industry. Only the general purpose office softwares have been in use. The main purpose of this study is to design a model for ICIMS(International Convention Information Management System) to manage all the related information of international convention in a systematic and integrated way and to implement its prototype. International convention system in general had been analyzed to enhance the level of accuracy of the model for ICIMS. A simulation of an international conference was conducted to test the core module of the ICIMS model.

  • From the beginning of a new millennium, the digital broadcasting services had been adopted to cable, satellite and radio broadcasting services as well as the terrestrial TV broadcasting services. The government established the installation standard of digital receiving equipment in 2007, which is needed for taking the new digital broadcasting services without additional facilities in an apartment house. In this paper, I will show the installation standard of digital receiving equipment in an apartment house and give a detailed explanation for the main criteria of it.

  • Managing quality is nothing new, but it increasingly become more challenging. Demands form customers, flatter organizations, measuring and assessing outcomes, stiffer competition for resources, technology, environmental concerns and others, all have created changes in the workplace for which enhanced leadership is needed. TQM, CQI, TQL, (managing quality), other acronyms can be summarized as a means of moving an organization into the new millennium with a keen focus on people, service, efficiencies, effectiveness and excellence. It is not an accident. It is the result of a clear, well-directed strategically focused thinking. Attention to quality encourages individuals and teams throughout organizations to continually learn, think and contribute ideas on how to explore processes that affect them. The organization must change into a learning organization that seeks to continually improve its processes and services. This learning attitude requires a cultural shift from autocratic to more participatory leadership. This presentation will examine the principles and lessons learned form implementation of quality initiatives from different organizations. Many of the themes shared are independent of the source and, as such, may be helpful in validating what you are doing or give you ideas on leading and implementing change within your organizations.

  • Colorectal peritoneal metastasis has been an incurable disease for centuries. However, since the new millennium, recent advancements in therapies are achieved with modern chemotherapeutic agents, target agents, and immune checkpoint blockade introduction. Modern chemotherapies, from a nearly nonexistent median survival if untreated, have raised the duration to 16 months with target agents. Experts have once again surpassed its limit by introducing intraperitoneal chemotherapy and cytoreductive surgery (CRS). Numerous clinical trials regarding CRS and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy have now opened new doors in peritoneal carcinomatosis treatment, even securing complete remission. In addition, up-to-date modalities, such as pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy and immunotherapies, showed promising results at an early stage.

  • In the modern world, we can share information and new products as quickly as an email can be sent, or a parcel can be loaded onto an aircraft. But the brick-walled urban centres that sprung up in Myanmar around 150 CE suggest that ancient people could be just as excited about new information and products, even though the transmission of data and cultural objects followed a different path. These huge resource-intensive cities, inspired by the walled cities of India, were not built in sequence, as has been generally assumed, but in the same period. Once the Royal City arrived, the chiefly families of early First Millennium Upper Myanmar just had to have one.

  • Epidemiology and preventive medicine are changing together with Population and health and with ever expanding medical and non medical technologies. New technologies make epidemiology methodologically more sophisticated, but such advances risk overshadowing epidemiology's most important role: raising questions, providing answers, and helping the medical decision-making at ail levels of prevention. Epidemiology also plays a major role in the evaluation of new and other technologies whose effectiveness is poorly known. Epidemiological approaches, methods, techniques, and interpretations are widely used in new and rapidly expanding fields of medicine: research evaluation and synthesis (meta-analysis), establishment of guidelines for clinical preventive practices, new medical technology assessment, guidelines for national and international health policies, evidence-based medicine, outcomes research and disease management ('population-based' medicine and quality of care improvement). In the nearest future, infectious and noninfectious diseases may cease to be almost the sole subjects of epidemiology and they may share their place with other mass phenomena of the next millennium, such as medical practices and care, or political, social and economic actions and their consequences. Not only will primary, secondary, and tertiary Prevention will remain in the epidemiological mainstream, but health protection and health promotion will require perhaps a redefinition of epidemiology in these domains. Epidemiology and preventive medicine are both subjects of medical ethics and dilemma for right choices.
