  • Blockchain technology is a new paradigm that will change existing business processes and has a significant impact on all industries, not just on specific industries. The medical industry also expects the impact of blockchain technology to be very significant. I think blockchain technology should be applied in the medical industry because the medical industry has the problem of information asymmetry due to the structural characteristics of a centralized system composed of hospitals. However, no one can be sure that the value of blockchain technology is absolutely right, and absolute trust should be avoided. Blockchain technology provides many limitations to the process in which blockchain technology is applied in the medical industry, as it can be seen as still immature in terms of security and scalability. Therefore, we analyze the application cases of blockchain technology in the medical field, current problems in the medical field, solutions and issues through Blockchain.

  • This paper proposed a new substructural identification method to estimate the bending stiffness of a bridge deck, a fundamental structural health index of a super-structure. The proposed method can estimate the bending stiffness without considering actual supporting conditions by using substructural identification method while most of conventional methods need reasonable assumptions on supporting conditions which are hard to be assessed in a real bridge in operation. The mathematical formulation is derived and the results of laboratory tests are summarized. It was verified that the proposed method gives consistent estimation results regardless of actual supporting conditions.

  • There is the urgent need of new human health care's technology against cancers or tumors based on plasma electronics, medicine and biology. Main target of our study is to enhance efficacy and selectivity of plasma on cancer cells with metabolic modifiers and by inducing immune-modulations. We have evaluated the combination effect of plasma with metabolic modifiers (2-DG) on various solid and liquid cancers. Our findings suggest that 2-DG enhances the efficacy and selectivity of plasma and induces apoptosis in blood cancer cells through glucose deprivation. Finally, we conclude that 2-DG with non-thermal plasma may be used as a combination treatment against cancer cells. Our work also comprises plasma induced activation of immune cells; which find applications for curing various kinds of resistant tumors and other dreadful diseases. Plasma significantly activates immune cells which increases cell death in solid tumors in co-culture conditions.

  • The leading paradigm of dentistry had been focused on the rehabilitation treatment that identifies active caries, manages them surgically, and restores their original functions. However, changes in the external environment including the current disease prevalence require dentistry to have a paradigm shift. The new paradigm suggests the detection of caries in their earlier stages over the visual diagnosis of cavities, and the reversal of the incipient caries by non-surgical approach. For this to be achieved, a high-technology detection device recognizing changes in the earlier stages which can not he visually observed is needed. Development of early caries detection device has recently become a major issue in preventive dentistry on account of this need, and QLF(Quantitified Light induced Fluorescence) conspicuously stands out among the newly released devices. In this study, the fundamental concept of QLF(Quantitified Light induced Fluorescence) and the possible clinical applications of the earlier intraoral camera model as well as the recently designed digital camera model will be discussed.

  • The first cases of neonatal meningitis believed to have been caused by Enterobacter sakazakii were reported in 1961. Prompted by several subsequent outbreaks of E. sakazakii infections in neonates and an increasing number of neonates in intensive care units being fed rehydrated powdered infant formula, considered to be a source of the pathogen, public health authorities and researchers are exploring ways to eliminate the bacterium or control its growth in dry infant formula, processing environments and formula preparation areas in hospitals. Reviewed here are advances in taxonomy and classification of E. sakazakii, methods of detecting, isolating and typing the bacterium, antibiotic resistance, clinical etilogy and pathogenicity. Outbreaks of E. sakazakii infections in neonates and adults are summarized. Reports on the presence of E. sakazakii in clinical settings, the environment and foods and food processing facilities are reviewed.

  • Indonesian Ministry of Environment estimates that each year 170 cities and regencies in Indonesia produce 45,764,354.30 $m^3$ or approximately 11,441,091.08 ton of solid waste. Unfortunately, unsustainable management system has created a severe waste problem, hazardous to health and environment. This paper deals with the problem and offers some solutions. They are 3R (Reduce Reuse and Recycle), waste-to-energy concept and landfill gas (LFG) utilization. While 3R policy has been adopted by the government, the remaining two technologies are still dormant. Thus the paper provides a complete yet compact analysis of technology, economics, and environment aspect of waste-to-energy and LFG. Given the facts of waste production and management in Indonesia, the purpose is to encourage Government of Indonesia and other stake holders (including international community) to explore and exploit this potential. Potential of reducing waste negative externality while receiving extra revenue. Two bird with a stone.
