  • A new genus and two new species of Bathynellacea are described from California in USA. Califobathynella, a new genus, belongs to the subfamily Leptobathynellinae, and is closely related to the genera Parvulobathynella and Leptobathynella but differs from them with respect to labrum, maxillule, maxilla, and male thoracopod VIII. Based on the detailed structure of mouthparts, the phylogenetic relationship of three genera are discussed. The phlogenetic age of the stem species of three genera are estimated at the late Jurassic, based on their phylogenetic relationship and distribution pattern. Two new species, C. noodti and C. teucherti differ from each other in the structure of labrum.

  • Seven new species in two genera, Sarcotragus and Bergquistia (Demospongiae: Dictyoceratida: Irciniidae), are described from Jeju Island, Korea. The separation of the two genera was made on basis of morphological evidence in skeletal structure, especially fasciculation of primary fibres and filament thickness. Two new species in the genus Sarcotragus and five new species in the genus Bergquistia are compared with other reported species.

  • Eleven new species of two genera, Psammocinia and Ircinia (Demospongiae: Dictyoceratida: Irciniidae) are described from Gageo Island, Ulleung Island and Jeju Island, South Korea. The separation of these two genera was made on basis of morphological evidence, especially skeletal structure with foreign debris. Six new species of Psammocinia and five new species of Ircinia were added to known fauna. All skeletal fibres are very irregular.

  • Four new species of the spider genera Trilacuna Tong and Li, 2007, Orchestina Simon, 1882 and Hahnia C. L. Koch, 1841 are described from Korea; Trilacuna hansanensis n. sp., Orchestina infirma n. sp., Hahnia montana n. sp. and Hahnia implexa n. sp. The genera Trilacuna and Orchestina are reported from Korea for the first time.

  • We report three new records Korean marine gastropods. The new record species are Hipponix acuta, Lyncina (Ponda) carneola, and Velutina (Velutella) plicatilis cryptospira. As a result, the family Hipponicidae in Korea turned out to be 5 species of 4 genera, Cypraeidae are 14 species of 8 genera, and Velutinidae are 7 species of 3 genera, respectively.

  • Through the collection of herbarium specimens in Bhutan over the years, new plant species are discovered nearly annually. Thus, this paper reports two new genera and 19 new records of flowering plant species from Bhutan. The new genera include Eurycorymbus of the family Sapindaceae and Homalium of the family Salicaceae. The new records of plant species are Eranthemum erythrochilum (Acanthaceae), Hemidesmus indicus (Apocynaceae), Ilex umbellulata (Aquifoliaceae), Canarium strictum (Burseraceae), Ehretia acuminate (Boraginaceae), Vaccinium sikkimense (Ericaceae), Nothapodytes foetida (Icacinaceae), Machilus edulis (Lauraceae), Grewia asiatica (Malvaceae), Hibiscus fragrans (Malvaceae), Cipadessa baccifera (Meliaceae), Baccaurea javanica (Phyllanthaceae), Canthiumera glabra (Rubiaceae), Homalium napaulense (Salicaceae), Eurycorymbus cavaleriei (Sapindaceae), Acmella radicans (Asteraceae), Silene latifolia (Caryophyllaceae), Cleome rutidosperma (Cleomaceae), and Cuphea carthagenensis (Lythraceae). Morphological determinations of the genera and species were carried out at the National Herbarium (THIM) of the National Biodiversity Centre of Bhutan. Brief descriptions of the species, phenology, and photo plates are provided in this annotated checklist.

  • Two new genera of red algae, Madagascaria erythrocladioides West et Zuccarello and Pseudoerythrocladia kornmannii West et Kikuchi (Erythropeltidales, Compsopogonophyceae, Rhodophyta), were previously described using molecular analysis and confocal microscopy of isolates in laboratory culture. We examined the ultrastructure of both genera to compare with ultrastructure of other members of the class Compsopogonophyceae. Both genera had Golgi bodies not associated with mitochondria and chloroplasts with a peripheral encircling thylakoid similar to all other members of the class studied thus far. Confocal autofluorescence images showed that Madagascaria has a single round central pyrenoid while Pseudoerythrocladia has no pyrenoid. Our electron microscopic work confirms these initial observations. Tables and keys are presented that assist in interpreting cellular details of genera in the class Compsopogonophyceae.

  • Two species, Plectiscus impurator Gravenhorst and Stenomacrus laticollis(Holmgren), of the subfamily Orthocentrinae are newly recognized from South Korea. This subfamily Orthocentrinae was represented in South Korea as 17 species belonging to four genera until now. In this paper, two additional species belonging to two genera are recorded for the first time from South Korea. Diagnoses of genera and two unrecorded species, illustrations of diagnostic characters are provided.

  • Three new genera and species of siphonostomatoid copepods are described as associates of sponges from shallow water of Samar Island in the Philippines: Samarus filipes n. gen., n. sp., Paurocheres dentatus n. gen., n. sp., and Platymyzon umbonatum n. gen., n. sp. A new family Samarusidae is proposed to accommodate Samarus n. gen. which has rudimentary legs 1-5 represented only by filiform setae. Paurocheres n. gen. is characterized by 2-segmented endopod of leg 4 and reduced setation of legs, and Platymyzon n. gen. by missing of mandibular gnathobase.
