Due to the recent increase in greenhouse gases in atmosphere, world climate is rapidly changing and in turn, the earth ecosystem responds upon the climate changes. Comparing the ecosystem in the past, the present shapes of ecosystem is the result of the serious modification. Fishery resources in marine ecosystem, which usually occupy the upper trophic level, are also inevitable from such changes, because they always react to the natural environmental conditions. The northwestern Pacific is the most productive ocean in the world producing about 30% of world catch. From time to time, however, it has been notified that abundance, distribution and species composition of major fish species were altered by climate events. Furthermore, primary productivity of the ocean is not stable under the changing environments, so that carrying capacity of the ocean varies from one climate regime to another. Major climate events such as global warming, atmospheric circulation pattern, climate regime shift in the North Pacific, and El Nino event in the Pacific tropical waters were introduced in relation to fisheries aspects. The current status and future projection of fishery production was investigated, especially in the North Pacific including Korean waters. This new paradigm, ecosystem response to environmental variability, has become the main theme in marine ecology and fishery science, and the GLOBEC-type researches might provide a solution far cause-effect mechanism as well as prediction capability. Ecosystem management principles for multi-species should be adopted for better understanding and management of ecosystem.
Recently, new concept and paradigm of 'Environmentally-Friendless' is taking a growing interest in environmental planning and design. This study is to develop the new approach of sustainable development, and to establish the indicators for environmentally-friendliness of "Tourism Farms" in rural areas. A questionnaire survey was conducted for deputy manager group and expert group. The environmentally-friendliness of tourism farms is composed of three categories, conservation of global environment(Low Impact), friendliness to surrounding nature(High Contact), and environmental health and amenities (Health '||'&'||' Amenity). Four indicators, such as saving of energy and water resource, reduction and reuse of garbage, natural purification of sewage disposal, and utilization of natural energy, were affecting the first category, i.e., conservation of global environment(Low Impact). And, friendliness to surrounding nature (High Contact) is affected by 3 indicators, such as contact to nature and diverse green areas, water intimate '||'&'||' contact areas, and natural ecology observation by biotope. Finally, the dimension of environmental health and amenity is affected by 3 indicators, such as nature affinity by farming experience, environmental-friendliness of soil '||'&'||' crops by organic farming, campaign and education programs of environmentally-friendliness. From the result of Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) for 10 indicators, environmentally-friendliness was recommended as 'Concentrate Here'. And, the content validity of 10 indicators for 3 categories was examined by factor analysis. The result showed as the same as hypothetical model, which proved the validity of hypothetical model.
This paper aims to discuss the concept of resilience in floating housing, to investigate the resilient features of floating houses & to review the possibility of floating housing as a new form of resilient living, and to suggest some reference ideas for the planning and design of floating housing projects. Resilient features of the floating house can be summarized as the buoyant characteristics for natural disasters, the easy employment & potential use of renewable and nearly self-sufficient energy systems in locations subject to limited energy sources, the movability, mobility, long life, water recycle system, prefabrication and modular construction with the potential for reduced environmental impact. Additional benefits include the potential for a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere due to direct connections with nature, good relationship with neighbors, a solid social spirit of unity, and sense of security. Considering the resilient features of floating house at a time of serious climate change requires a new paradigm, and floating/amphibious/floatable housing has great possibility as a new form of resilient living.
This study was carried out to introduce current status and development strategy for an environmental restoration of stream side in Japan, and to consider a methodology which could be effectively applied for the environmental restoration of stream side in Korea. The strategy prospects of environmental restoration in Japan were summarized as follows: 1. We should establish a new paradigm of forest road, forest conservation and erosion control which can emphasize the restoration of the streamside ecosystem and reduce the effects of soil movement change in the areas. And we should maintain the biotic habitats to conserve native biotic community when we practice forest road, forest conservation and erosion control works. 2. In the point of view ecological conservation aspects, we should evaluate the effects of new forest conservation and erosion control methods which is emphasized on the restoration of the streamside ecosystem to apply desirable methodology to the environmental restoration of the streamside area. 3. In the past, the objective of forest conservation and erosion control was to fix a soil by construction of permanent structures. Whereas, the direction of future's forest conservation and erosion control needs to change new forest conservation and erosion control technology to prevent large scale soil movement but allow small scale soil movement to conserve sound ecosystem and biotic habitats. 4. The restoration of the streamside ecosystem should provide continuity of the streamside environment which allows desirable biological habitats, and environmentally sound facilities to harmonize the environment.
The recognition of the environment and its importance have generated various types of parks, such as the ecological put the environmental put and the natural academy. They are considered the connecting media for the creation of space as a new paradigm in design for the 21st century from the late 1990s, environmental designs in space planning have been created from various angles of Perspectives including restoration of the natural ecosystem and introduction of natural circulation systems. Based on the aye facts and through theoretical examination of environmental park models, this research (1) establishes the concept and the significance of environmental parte; and, based on this, classifies the types of industrial sublimity; (2) presents environmental designing principles and standards; and (3) presents the "Chung Ra pro-Environmental Park plan" based on these ideas. The following is the summary of research results: First, while existing city parks are human-oriented, interior-oriented, and shape-centered, an environmental park considers human and nature equally and gives great importance to the relationship between the internal and external of the subject. It is a mark of environmental education that considers the natural ecosystem. Therefore, the environmental park is the 21st Century′s type of an open park for creating new forms of nature, as well as for incorporating culture and values through education. In such an environmental system, nature, culture, and human beings pursue balance, harmony, and security through mutual recognition. Second, in a broad sense, the types of environmental park can be classified into Cultural Restoration, Ecological Conservation, and Environmental Replacement. Third, by selecting Chung na environmental park in Incheon, which is a filtration plant lot, as a research subject, I have presented alternative planning for environmental parte in which culture and nature coexist on the basis of environmental planning principles and standards.
BIM(Building Information Modeling) is considered a new paradigm and a powerful method in building design, construction and maintenance. However, it is still hard to implement environmental performance analysis using BIM in design stages. This study aims to reveal practical problems and evaluate interoperability between building design information and performance analysis with case studies. Three case studies are performed using two environmental analysis programs (IES/VE, EnergyPlus) and BIM-based architectural design programs (Revit, GoogleSketchUp) in this paper.
The purpose of this study was to explore the concepts of health among people with mobility disabilities in order to develop a new holistic model of health and to identify implications for social work practice. A qualitative study based on face-to-face interviews with people with mobility disabilities was conducted. Nine consumers and nine social workers with mobility disabilities participated in the study. Social constructionism, heuristic paradigm, empowerment paradigm, and strength perspectives were used to form conceptual foundations to guide the study. Study participants' holistic descriptions of the concept of health encompassed five domains: biological/physical, mental/emotional, financial, relationships with others, and spiritual. Participants described health as harmony among these five domains. Harmony indicates that all five domains contribute to the concept of health, and that each domain is related to the others. Participants also viewed disability and health as an interconnected whole, not separate concept. The conceptual model developed in this study expands on the existing concepts of health by considering multiple factors at the personal and environmental levels, as well as interactions among the factors and between the levels. The personal level has five domains: biological/physical, mental/emotional, spiritual, financial, and relationships with others. The environmental level has also five domains: relationship with others, financial, social programs, social attitudes toward peoplewith disabilities, and physical environment. All factors under the personal and environmental levels also affect each other. The holistic concept of health for people with disabilities is not solely a part of the person, but rather is a function of the interaction between the person and their environment. The study demonstrated that people with disabilities have strength and resiliency, and health is an attainable goal for them, particularly when environmental and cultural barriers are addressed. The focus of social work practice should be the removal of those barriers encountered by their consumers with disabilities, as well as, the enhancement of internal factors that facilitate well-being.
In this study, the indicator is established by the human activities which cause the load of the environment, the effect of the human activities on the environment, the state of the natural environment in the city, and the effort on improving this state. And this indicator is based on the DPSR(Driving Force, Pressure, State, Response)framework which combines the PSR framework of GECD with the DSR framework of UNCSD. Coexistent indicators between men and nature among the established environmental indicators apply to the case cities such as Suwon, Songnam, Bucheon, Ansan and the results are analyzed in detail. The environmental indicators established in this study will be the concrete and persuasive means which can evaluate the possibility of the sustainability that is the paradigm of the new city development when the environmental quality or state of the existing cities is evaluated.

The article discusses the use of smart technologies in the training of future specialists. Today, learning using smart technologies is becoming a new educational standard, where information is presented in a logical sequence, computer training systems have powerful functions for the educational process. The functions of smart technologies are highlighted. It is noted that smart technologies are successfully used in the field of education and professional training. The concept of "smart education" is characterized. Smart education is an educational paradigm that underlies a new type of education system. The implementation of the smart education paradigm is aimed at the process of obtaining competencies and competencies for flexible and adapted interaction with the social, economic and technological environment. Smart education should ensure that the benefits of the global information society can be used to meet educational needs and interests. A special place is occupied by computer-based educational multimedia systems that allow you to deepen your knowledge, reduce the duration of training, and increase the number of students per teacher. The main principles of smart education are highlighted. Improving the efficiency of training in a modern higher education institution is impossible without the introduction of smart technologies in the organization of the educational process.
Solid freeform fabrication technology, widely known as rapid prototyping an rapid tooling, can create physical part directly from digital model by accumulating layers of a given material. Providing a tremendous flexibility of a part geometry that they can fabricate, these technologies present a opportunity or the creation of new products that can not be made with existing technologies. For this to be possible, however, various design environments including different fabrication processes needs to be considered at the time of design, and finding an appropriate design solution for the new product by combining necessary design communications become increasingly complex as environmental condition become diverse. This paper proposes a geometric modeling paradigm for design and fabrication of a new product, honeycomb structural geometry.
