For analysis, the factors for feelings of emptiness on Facebook use among college students were measured and a questionnaire was developed. After analysis, 3 factors were identified: 'isolation and loneliness', 'self-regulation disorder', and 'unreality'. Then, variables influencing the feelings of emptiness were identified. Among big 5 personalities, neuroticism, agreeableness, and openness to experience were related to the factors for feelings of emptiness. The study also found that motivations such as 'self-disclosure' and 'social pressure from others' tended to enhance the feelings of emptiness. Finally, the study examined the relationship between feelings of emptiness on Facebook use and the addiction to it. Factors of 'isolation and loneliness' and 'unreality' revealed more addiction tendency on Facebook.

The SPQ-C score and SPQ-T were significantly higher for Soyangin, Soeumin and Taeeumin, in that order. 2. In the results of the EPQ, the Soyangin showed a significantly higher score than did the Taeeumin and Soeumin in Extraversion - introversion. Soeumin showed a significantly higher score than did the Soyangin and Taeeumin in Neuroticism. Soyangin also showed a significantly higher score than Taeeumin in Venturesomeness. 3. For the results of the TCI, the Soyangin showed a significantly lower score than did Taeeumin and Soeumin in Harm-Avoidance, but a significantly higher score in Persistence and Self-Directedness. Soyangin and Taeeumin showed a significantly higher score than did Soeumin for the total score of Self-Directedness+Cooperativeness. 4. The results of the Computerized Neuropsychological Tests (A-VLT, CPM, Stroop-CWIT, WCST) showed no significant differences between the Sasang constitution. Conclusions: The EPQ, TCI score showed significant differences between the Sasang constitution. But the Computerized Neuropsychological Tests developed to evaluate cognitive abilities did not show differences between the constitutional individuals and showed limitations as a research tool. Further studies are needed to devise a research method for ascertaining the cognitive behavioral characteristics of the Sasang constitution.

The participants in this study consisted of 221 mothers of toddlers (aged from 18 to 35months) in Seoul. The participants completed questionnaires on toddler's negative emotionality, their personality and parenting behavior. The collected data were mainly analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan test, Pearson's correlation and the multiple regression analysis. The main findings of this study were as follows. First, there was a significant difference in the negative parenting behavior according to the mother's educational level. Second, relations between individual variables and parenting behavior were analyzed. As a result, number of children, mother's age, toddler's negative emotionality, and mother's personality were significantly correlated with parenting behavior. Third, through the analysis of the moderating effect of the mother's personality on the relationship between the toddler's negative emotionality and parenting behavior, it was found that interactions between the mother's neuroticism and the toddlers' negative emotionality affected the mother's warm parenting behavior. And interactions between the mother's extraversion and the toddlers's negative emotionality affected the mother's rejection parenting behavior. The results of this study provide basic data to support mothers' positive parenting behavior.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the patterns of the elementary school students' interests to animals and plants based on affinity toward animals and plants, and curiosity about animals and plants by using a cluster analysis. In addition, the differences of the big five personality traits by the identified clusters was examined. A total number of 411 elementary school students participated in the study. The students were clustered into four distinct interest groups with respect to the level of interests to animals and plants. Cluster 1 'Developed Interest to Organisms group' showed high levels in the interest to both animals and plants. Cluster 2 'Developed Interest to Animals group' showed high interest to animals and relatively low interest to plants whereas cluster 3 'Developed Interest to Plants group' showed high interest to plants and relatively low interest to animals. Lastly, cluster 4 were identified as 'Lack of Interest to Organisms group' by showing low levels of interest to both animals and plants. The four identified groups also showed different distributions of students according to gender and school year. These results support gender difference in the interest to animals and plants and suggest the decreased and specialized interest with school year. The Big Five personality traits excluding neuroticism were positively related with the interest to organisms and the identified groups showed significant differences in the traits. These findings indicate that agreeableness, conscientiousness, extraversion, and openness can be significant predictors of the interests to animals and plants.

  • If the game characters in the cyber world speak the same dialogues as in the real world, it will give game players more fun and realism. And game players are more and more immersed into the cyber space. However, we observed that only simple and primitive dialogues are used at the market places in most MMORPGS. We introduce personality psychology theory for generating the personality of NPC in MMORPG. And we suggest how to make a conversation between PC (Playable Character) and NPC (Non - Playable Character) according to 'Extroversion - Introversion dimension' and 'Neuroticism dimension'. And we implement the personality dialogue generation program, which is composed of two parts. One is for generating personality, and the other for making dialogue. Personality generator can set a NPC's personality automatically, and Dialogue Maker can control the dialogue styles, quantities, and characteristics of NPC. Thus, the program implemented in this paper can help game designer and scenario writer to make game characters easily. The approach in this paper can be applied to generate various game characters and used to represent agents and avatars of real-time animation.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the psychological factors of Sasang constitutions which are classified by QSCC II(Questionnaire for Sasang Constitution Classification II) using major personality tests which are based on western psychological theory. Methods: 151 college students completed the MMPI-2, MBTI, NEO-PI-R, TCI-RS, and QSCC II. The data were analyzed by ANOVA and post hoc testing to find which personality scale significantly differentiated each Sasang constitution style. Results: MMPI-2, scale 2(D), 5(Mf), 7(Pt), 0(Si) and introversion scale(INTR) showed significant differences between Soeumin and Soyangin. Also, on the dimension of introversion-extraversion in MBTI, and neuroticism(N) and extraversion(E) in NEO-PI-R, there were differences between Soeumin and the other two constitutions(Soyangin and Taeeumin). Finally, in TCI-RS, there were differences between Soeumin and Soyangin on the scale of novelty seeking(NS) and reward dependence(RD), and with regards to the harm avoidance scale(HA), Soeumin received a higher score than any other constitutions. Conclusions: The analysis demonstrates that the classification of QSCC II is most consistent between Soeumin and Soyangin across 4 major personality tests.
