This paper describes the initial hull form design process which generate a hull form using a neurofuzzy modeling. Neurofuzzy system is to combine the merits of fuzzy inference system and neural networks. Therefore it has structured knowledge representations as well as adaptive capacities. Initial hull form design stage is the process which generate an adoptable hull form from the limited design information and multi-decidions condidering correlations with design factors. It can be assidted efficiently by neurofuzzy system. This paper suggests two methods of an initial hull form generation using the neurofuzzy modeling and B-spline theory. and examines the usefulness of suggested method through its application examples.
In this paper, we design neurofuzzy networks architecture by means of linear fuzzy inference. The proposed neurofuzzy networks are equivalent to linear fuzzy rules, and the structure of these networks is composed of two main substructures, namely premise part and consequence part. The premise part of neurofuzzy networks use fuzzy space partitioning in terms of all variables for considering correlation between input variables. The consequence part is networks constituted as first-order linear form. The consequence part of neurofuzzy networks in general structure(for instance ANFIS networks) consists of nodes with a function that is a linear combination of input variables. But that of the proposed neurofuzzy networks consists of not nodes but networks that are constructed by connection weight and itself correspond to a linear combination of input variables functionally. The connection weights in consequence part are learned by back-propagation algorithm. For the evaluation of proposed neurofuzzy networks. The experimental results include a well-known NASA dataset concerning software cost estimation.
In this study, we introduce a neurofuzzy approach to the design of fuzzy controllers. The development process exploits key technologies of Computational Intelligence (CI), namely, genetic algorithms (GA) and neurofuzzy networks. The crux of the design methodology deals with the selection and determination of optimal values of the scaling factors of fuzzy controllers, which are essential to the entire optimization process. First, the tuning of the scaling factors of the fuzzy controller is carried out. Next, we form a nonlinear mapping for the scaling factors, which are realized by GA-based neurofuzzy networks by using a fuzzy set or fuzzy relation. The proposed approach is applied to control nonlinear systems like the inverted pendulum. Results of comprehensive numerical studies are presented through a detailed comparative analysis.

In this paper, new architectures and comprehensive design methodologies of Genetic Algorithms(GAs) based Genetically optimized Neurofuzzy Networks(GoNFN) are introduced, and a series of numeric experiments are carried out. The proposed GoNFN is based on the rule-based Neurofuzzy Networks(NFN) with the extended structure of the premise and the consequence parts of fuzzy rules being formed within the networks. The premise part of the fuzzy rules are designed by using space partitioning in terms of fuzzy sets defined in individual variables. In the consequence part of the fuzzy rules, three different forms of the regression polynomials such as constant, linear and quadratic are taken into consideration. The structure and parameters of the proposed GoNFN are optimized by GAs. GAs being a global optimization technique determines optimal parameters in a vast search space. But it cannot effectively avoid a large amount of time-consuming iteration because GAs finds optimal parameters by using a given space. To alleviate the problems, the dynamic search-based GAs is introduced to lead to rapidly optimal convergence over a limited region or a boundary condition. In a nutshell, the objective of this study is to develop a general design methodology o GAs-based GoNFN modeling, come up a logic-based structure of such model and propose a comprehensive evolutionary development environment in which the optimization of the model can be efficiently carried out both at the structural as well as parametric level for overall optimization by utilizing the separate or consecutive tuning technology. To evaluate the performance of the proposed GoNFN, the models are experimented with the use of several representative numerical examples.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a neurofuzzy modeling & inference system which can determine principle dimensions and hull factors in an initial ship design. Neurofuzzy modeling & inference for a hull form design (NeFHull) applies the given input-output data to the fuzzy theory. NeFHull also deals the fuzzificated values with neural networks. NeFHull redefines normalized input-output data as membership functions and executes the fuzzficated information with backporpagation-neural -networks. A hybrid learning algorithms utilized in the training of neural networks and examining the usefulness of suggested method through mathematical and mechanical examples.

In this study, we introduce a concept of neurofuzzy polynomial networks (NFPN), a hybrid modeling architecture combining neurofuzzy networks (NFN) and polynomial neural networks(PNN). NFN contributes to the formation of the premise part of the rule-based structure of the NFPN. The consequence part of the NFPN is designed using PNN. The parameters of the membership functions, learning rates and momentum coefficients are adjusted with the use of genetic optimization. We introduce two kinds of NFPN architectures, namely the basic and the modified one. Owing to the specific features of two combined architectures, it is possible to consider the nonlinear characteristics of process system and to obtain the better output performance with superb predictive ability.

The power system stabilizer(PSS) is important for the suppression of low-frequency oscillation and the improvement of system stability. In this paper, An Adaptive Neurofuzzy-based Power System Stabilizer(ANF PSS) is proposed as the new PSS type. The proposed PSS employs a multi-layer adaptive network. The network is trained directly from the input and the output of the generating unit. The algorithm combines the advantages of the Artificial Neural Network(ANN) and Fuzzy Logic Control(FLC) schemes. Studies show that the proposed ANF PSS can provide good damping of the power system over the wide range of operating conditions and improve the dynamic performance of the system.

A novel intelligent anti-collision decision-making supporting system is addressed in this paper. To obtain precise anti-collision information capability, an innovative neurofuzzy network is proposed and applied. A fuzzy set interpretation is incorporated into the network design to handle imprecise information. A neural network architecture is used to train the parameters of the Fuzzy Inference System (FIS). The learning process is based on a hybrid learning algorithm and off-line training data. The training data are obtained by trial manoeuvre. This neurofuzzy network can be considered to be a self-learning system with the ability to learn new information adaptively without forgetting old knowledge. This supporting system can decrease ship operators' burden to deal with bridge data and help them to make a precise anti-collision decision.

In this study, we introduce a concept of advanced neurofuzzy polynomial networks(ANFPN), a hybrid modeling architecture combining neurofuzzy networks(NFN) and polynomial neural networks(PNN). These networks are highly nonlinear rule-based models. The development of the ANFPN dwells on the technologies of Computational Intelligence(Cl), namely fuzzy sets, neural networks and genetic algorithms. NFN contributes to the formation of the premise part of the rule-based structure of the ANFPN. The consequence part of the ANFPN is designed using PNN. At the premise part of the ANFPN, NFN uses both the simplified fuzzy inference and error back-propagation learning rule. The parameters of the membership functions, learning rates and momentum coefficients are adjusted with the use of genetic optimization. As the consequence structure of ANFPN, PNN is a flexible network architecture whose structure(topology) is developed through learning. In particular, the number of layers and nodes of the PNN are not fixed in advance but is generated in a dynamic way. In this study, we introduce two kinds of ANFPN architectures, namely the basic and the modified one. Here the basic and the modified architecture depend on the number of input variables and the order of polynomial in each layer of PNN structure. Owing to the specific features of two combined architectures, it is possible to consider the nonlinear characteristics of process system and to obtain the better output performance with superb predictive ability. The availability and feasibility of the ANFPN are discussed and illustrated with the aid of two representative numerical examples. The results show that the proposed ANFPN can produce the model with higher accuracy and predictive ability than any other method presented previously.
In this paper, we propose Self-organizing neurofuzzy networks(SONFN) and discuss their comprehensive design methodology. The proposed SONFN is generated from the mutually combined structure of both neurofuzzy networks (NFN) and polynomial neural networks(PNN) for model identification of complex and nonlinear systems. NFN contributes to the formation of the premise part of the SONFN. The consequence part of the SONFN is designed using PNN. The parameters of the membership functions, learning rates and momentum coefficients are adjusted with the use of genetic optimization. We discuss two kinds of SONFN architectures and propose a comprehensive learning algorithm. It is shown that this network...
