  • A novel neural network model, termed the standard neural network model (SNNM), similar to the nominal model in linear robust control theory, is suggested to facilitate the synthesis of controllers for delayed (or non-delayed) nonlinear systems composed of neural networks. The model is composed of a linear dynamic system and a bounded static delayed (or non-delayed) nonlinear operator. Based on the global asymptotic stability analysis of SNNMs, Static state-feedback controller and dynamic output feedback controller are designed for the SNNMs to stabilize the closed-loop systems, respectively. The control design equations are shown to be a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) which can be easily solved by various convex optimization algorithms to determine the control signals. Most neural-network-based nonlinear systems with time delays or without time delays can be transformed into the SNNMs for controller synthesis in a unified way. Two application examples are given where the SNNMs are employed to synthesize the feedback stabilizing controllers for an SISO nonlinear system modeled by the neural network, and for a chaotic neural network, respectively. Through these examples, it is demonstrated that the SNNM not only makes controller synthesis of neural-network-based systems much easier, but also provides a new approach to the synthesis of the controllers for the other type of nonlinear systems.

  • The objective of the study is to construct a sensor fusion system for tool-condition monitoring (TCM) that will lead to a more efficient and economical drill usage. Drill-wear monitoring has an important attribute in the automatic machining processes as it can help preventing the damage of tools and workpieces, and optimizing the drill usage. In this study, we present the architectures of a multi-layer feed-forward neural network with Levenberg-Marquardt training algorithm based on sensor fusion for the monitoring of drill-wear condition. The input features to the neural networks were extracted from AE, vibration and current signals using the wavelet packet transform (WPT) analysis. Training and testing were performed at a moderate range of cutting conditions in the dry drilling of steel plates. The results show good performance in drill- wear monitoring by the proposed method of sensor fusion and neural network analysis.

  • Extrapolating the correction information of ionosphere is essential for expanding wide area differential GPS (WADGPS) service area beyond the reference station network. In this paper, design and analysis of the artificial neural network for expanding the ionospheric correction region will be proposed. First, analysis about influence of each input of neural network were performed. The inputs are the day/year periodic function, sunspot number, and geomagnetic index (Ap). Second, performance analysis with respect to the number of hidden layers and neurons in the neural network is shown. As a result, estimation of total electron contents (TEC) on the high/low latitude regions in solar max(2014) are displayed.

  • A novel motion analysis system is presented in this paper. The proposed system is inspired by processing functions observed in the fly visual system, which detects changes in input light intensities, determines motion on both the local and the wide-field levels. The system has several differences from conventional motion analysis system. First, conventional systems usually focused on matching similar feature or optical flow, but neural network is applied in this system. Back propagation is used by learning method, and Tine Delay Neural Network (TDNN) is also used as analysis method. Second, while conventional systems usually limited on only two frames of sequence, the proposed system accept multiple frames of sequence. The experimental results showed a 94.7% correct rate with a speed of 71.47 milli seconds for real and synthetic images.

  • Artificial Neural Networks that enabled Artificial Intelligence are being used in many fields. However, the application to mechanical structures has several problems and research is incomplete. One of the problems is that it is difficult to secure a large amount of data necessary for learning Artificial Neural Networks. In particular, it is important to detect and recognize external forces and forces for safety working and accident prevention of mechanical structures. This study examined the possibility by applying the Current Neural Network of Artificial Neural Networks to detect and recognize the load on the machine. Tens of thousands of data are required for general learning of Recurrent Neural Networks, and to secure large amounts of data, this paper derives load data from ANSYS structural analysis results and applies a stacked auto-encoder technique to secure the amount of data that can be learned. The usefulness of Stacked Auto-Encoder data was examined by comparing Stacked Auto-Encoder data and ANSYS data. In addition, in order to improve the accuracy of detection and recognition of load data with a Recurrent Neural Network, the optimal conditions are proposed by investigating the effects of related functions.

  • This paper is proposed adaptive fuzzy-neural network(FNN) controller for high performance of induction motor drive. The design of this algorithm based on FNN controller that is implemented using fuzzy control and neural network. This controller uses fuzzy rule as training patterns of a neural network. Also, this controller uses the back-propagation method to adjust the weights between the neurons of neural network in order to minimize the error between the command output and actual output. A model reference adaptive scheme is proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed by fuzzy logic based on the error and change of error measured between the motor speed and output of a reference model. The control Performance of the adaptive FNN controller is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. The results of analysis prove that the proposed control system has strong high performance and robustness to parameter variation. and steady- state accuracy and transient response.

  • In this paper, we propose multiple component neural network(MCNN) which learn partitioned patterns in each multiple component neural networks by reducing dimensions of input pattern vector using PCA (principal component analysis). Procesed neural network use Oja's rule that has a role of PCA, output patterns are used a slearning patterns on small component neural networks and we call it CBP. For simply not solved patterns in a network, we solves it by regenerating new CBP neural networks and by performing dynamic partitioned pattern learning. Simulation results shows that proposed MCNN neural networks are very small size networks and have very fast learning speed compared with multilayer neural network EBP.

  • This study provides fragility-based assessment of seismic performance of reinforced concrete bridges. Seismic fragility curves were created using nonlinear analysis (NA) and artificial neural networks (ANNs). Nonlinear response history analyses were performed, in order to calculate the seismic performances of the bridges. To this end, 306 bridge-earthquake cases were considered. A multi-layered perceptron (MLP) neural network was implemented to predict the seismic performances of the selected bridges. The MLP neural networks considered herein consist of an input layer with four input vectors; two hidden layers and an output vector. In order to train ANNs, 70% of the numerical results were selected, and the remained 30% were employed for testing the reliability and validation of ANNs. Several structures of MLP neural networks were examined in order to obtain suitable neural networks. After achieving the most proper structure of neural network, it was used for generating new data. A total number of 600 new bridge-earthquake cases were generated based on neural simulation. Finally, probabilistic seismic safety analyses were conducted. Herein, fragility curves were developed using numerical results, neural predictions and the combination of numerical and neural data. Results of this study revealed that ANNs are suitable tools for predicting seismic performances of RC bridges. It was also shown that yield stresses of the reinforcements is one of the important sources of uncertainty in fragility analysis of RC bridges.

  • Recently, in order to analyze the time series problems that occur in the nature word, and analyzing method using a neural electric network is being studied more than a typical statistical analysis method. A neural electric network has a generalization performance that is possible to estimate and analyze about non-learning data through the learning of a population. In this paper, after collecting weather datum that was collected from 1987 to 1996 and learning a population established, it suggests the weather forecasting system for an estimation and analysis the future weather. The suggested weather forecasting system uses 28*30*1 neural network structure, raises the total learning numbers and accuracy letting the selecting concentration learning about the pattern, that is not collected, using the descending epsilon learning method. Also, the weather forecasting system, that is suggested through a comparative experiment of the typical time series analysis method shows more superior than the existing statistical analysis method in the part of future estimation capacity.
