  • The reliable authentication of a communicating party and a network component is an essential factor to achieve the security in a computer network. The Kerberos Authentication Services has been the most successful solution which is widely used today but its requirement for synchronized clocks has been a serious limitation to use it. In this paper we presented an extended Kerberos method which avoids the synchronization requirement for a single-time ticket user. We modified the Kerberos protocol minimally by replacing the synchronization requirement with the challenge-response method.

  • Femtocells are viewed as a promising option for mobile operators to improve coverage and provide high-data-rate services in a cost-effective manner Femtocells can be used to serve indoor users, resulting in a powerful solution for ubiquitous indoor and outdoor coverage. TThe frequency accuracy and phase alignment is necessary for ensuring the quality of service (QoS) forapplications such as voice, real-time video, wireless hand-off, and data over a converged access medium at the femtocell. But, the GPS has some problem to be used at the femtocell, because it is difficult to set-up, depends on the satellite condition, and very expensive. The IEEE 1588 specification provides a low-cost means for clock synchronisation over a broadband Internet connection. The Time of Packet (ToP) specified in IEEE 1588 is able to synchronize distributed clocks with an accuracy of less than one microsecond in packet networks. However, the timing synchronization over packet switched networks is a difficult task because packet networks introduce large and highly variable packet delays. This paper proposes an enhanced filter algorithm to reduce ths packet delay variation effects and maintain ToP slave clock synchronization performance. The results are presented to demonstrate in the intra-networks and show the improved performance case when the efficient ToP filter algorithm is applied.

Above all, network techniques that apply Ethernet, are in the limelight because of advantages of Ethernet. A standardization of network technique for isochronous traffic over Ethernet is in progress in IEEE 802.1 AVB TG. This paper proposed network technique for isochronous traffic over Ethernet model, that is, synchronous Ethernet model with synchronization method between devices. And this paper proposed bandwidth reservation method for transmission of isochronous traffic in synchronized devices. In this paper, synchronous Ethernet model is implemented through OPNET, efficiency of proposed methods is analyzed.

  • In this paper we propose a new conceptual system for a network clock in which all node clocks are simultaneously synchronized to the national standard by intermediation parameter of satellite time. Experiments have shown the possibility of its adoption by real networks. The new proposed method has various structural benefits, in particular all node clocks can be kept at the same hierarchical quality in contrast to the existing method. The measurement results show that the accuracy of the experimental slave clock system can be kept within a few parts In 1012 and the MTIE (Maximum Time Interval Error) sufficiently meets ITU-T G.811 for the primary reference clock. A prototype system with fully automatic operational functions has been realized at present and is expected to be directly used for communication network synchronization in the near future.

  • This article presents a circuit and a system for IEEE 1588 based clock synchronization to generate a very accurate frequency signal required in femtocell devices. A prototype board and the experimental environment to verify the functions and to evaluate the performance are explained to verify the feasibility of the proposed synchronization system. To make low-cost femtocells without constraints on the place of installation, it is very important to study on the practical implementation of synchronization system based on IEEE 1588. The experimental result shows that the synchronization errors between -16 ns and 9 ns are guaranteed over the network of femtocell devices with the proposed synchronization circuits, thus the synchronization criteria of the 3GPP HNB are met.

  • In wireless sensor networks Time synchronization used to be performed after routing tree is constructed. It results in increasing the number of packets and energy consumption. In this paper, we propose a time synchronization algorithm combined with flooding routing tree construction algorithm, which applies LTS (Lightweight Time Synchronization) information packed into the forwarding and backward routing packets. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm compensates the time error due to clock drift using the round time with fixed period. We prove that the proposed algorithm could synchronize the time of among sensor nodes more accurately compared to TSRA (Time Synchronization Routing Algorithm) using NS2 simulation tool.

  • Time synchronization is a prerequisite in wireless sensor network applications such as object tracking, consistent state update, duplication detection, and temporal order delivery. This paper analyze time synchronization accuracy of pair-wise time synchronization algorithm which is a typical time synchronization model of time synchronization method in wireless sensor networks. In addition, the analyzed results are verified by simulations. These results can be utilized for performance improvement or development of time synchronization in wireless sensor networks.

  • This paper deals with distributed time and frequency synchronization algorithms using the flocking technique for OFDMA-based wireless mesh networks. We propose a time and frequency synchronization model taking into account channel propagation delays existing in wireless mesh networks, and analyze the convergence condition of the proposed synchronization algorithm. Convergence performance of the proposed synchronization algorithm is analyzed via computer simulation in terms of synchronization parameters in the time and frequency synchronization model.

  • The frequency accuracy and phase alignment is necessary for ensuring the quality of service (QoS) for applications such as voice, real-time video, wireless hand-off, and data over a converged access medium at the telecom network. As telecom networks evolve from circuit to packet switching, proper synchronization algorithm should be meditated for IP networks to achieve performance quality comparable to that of legacy circuit-switched networks. The Time of Packet (ToP) specified in IEEE 1588 is able to synchronize distributed clocks with an accuracy of less than one microsecond in packet networks. But, The ToP can be affected by impairments of a network such as packet delay variation. This paper proposes the efficient method to minimize the expectable delay variation when ToP synchronizes the distributed clocks. The simulation results are presented to demonstrate the improved performance case when the efficient ToP transmit algorithm is applied.

  • Current video games and game room games are played as a single player mode on the basis of various emulators. With the evolution of data communications and game technology, a new trend in the game industry has made the primary interests of game developers and companies in the game industry be moved toward a multiplayer mode from the traditional single player mode. In this paper, we represent how to implement a network game platform by allowing network modules to be run in conjunction with the current video emulator games. It also suggests a synchronization scheme for real-time game playout and practical mechanism that can support network games to be played with the Peer-to-Peer process using a lobby system.
