This technical report is to introduce the research on SRM (Synthetic Rock Mass) which was presented in 2007 ISRM Congress at Lisbon by Prof, Fairhurst who speak with emphasis on its importance and potential in rock engineering. The Synthetic Rock Mass approach to jointed rock mass characterization (Pierce et al. 2007) is reviewed relative to existing empirical approaches and current understanding of jointed rock mass behaviour. The review illustrates how the key factors affecting the mechanical behaviour of jointed rock masses may be considered and demonstrates that the SRM approach constitutes a significant step forward in this field. This technique, based on two well-established methods, Bonded Particle Modelling in PFC-3D (Potyondy and Cundall, 2004) and Discrete Fracture Network simulation, employs a new sliding joint model that allows for large rock volumes containing thousands of pre-existing joints to be subjected to any non-trivial stress path. Output from SRM testing includes rock mass brittleness and strength, evolution of the full compliance matrix and primary fragmentation.
Porous ${\beta}-tricalcium$ phosphate $({\beta}-TCP)$ bioceramic was fabricated by pressureless sintering using commercial HAp and different volume percentages of PMMA powders (30-60 vol.%). The range of spherical pore size was about $200-250\;{\mu}m$ in diameter. By increasing the PMMA content, the number of pores and their morphology were dramatically changed as well as decreased the material properties. In case of using 60 vol.% PMMA content, network-type pores were found, due to the necking of the PMMA powders. The values of relative density, elastic modulus, bending strength and hardness of the 60 vol.% PMMA content sample, sintered at $1500^{\circ}C$, were about 46%, 22.2 GPa, 5MPa and 182 Hv respectively. Human osteoblast-like MG-63 cells and osteoclast-like Raw 264.7 cells were well grown and fully covered all of the porous ${\beta}-TCP$ bodies sintered at $1500^{\circ}C$.

In this study, we investigated the usability of new powdered additives in the paperboard industry. We manufactured the powdered additives from peanut husks and garlic stems by grinding. The chemical composition, particle size, particle size distribution, and particle shape were investigated to identify the basic properties of the powdered raw materials. To determine the effect of the powdered additives on paper properties, handsheets were prepared by adding the powdered additives to the pulp slurry. The chemical composition, such as the contents of holocellulose, lignin, and ash, showed similar values to those of other biomass materials. The particles of peanut husk powder were irregularly shaped, smaller, and had a broader particle size distribution than those of the garlic stem powder, which had the fibril form. The particles of the two powdered raw materials showed a positioning of expansion in the fiber network, resulting in increased bulk and a loss of strength. Handsheets containing garlic stem particles were stronger than handsheets containing peanut husk particles. Finally, the new powdered additives are beneficial to the bulk of paperboard.
Peer-to-peer(P2P) has potential strength and possible factors which enable it to develop toward a new business by supplementing the limitation of the existing central server-type network. In various business sectors, various attempts have already been made to apply P2P. The computing power which was possible to be formed through peer-to-peer networking will become a powerful tools for expanding toward new business area depending the utilization methods by sector. Although the technology-centric P2P concept is a major interest now, its development direction will head toward service-centric P2P concept for satisfying desires of end-users(individual peers) for reliable contents and improving their purchasing convenience. But the solution requisites should be solved for the efficient application of P2P to business such as the establishment of and supplement for the industrial standard and legal system for P2P, the enhancement of peers recognition of P2P. Presently e-commerce using P2P is being implemented by a few enterprises locally by means of B2C. But if many enterprises enter this type of e-commerce, and the standardization of peer programmes, goods and documents is made, it will be able to be extended to B2B. Also it seems that it can be utilized in international transactions as well as in domestic transactions. So there is much room for the application of P2P to be extended further. Also there has been presented the necessity for related industries to support their work with theories and for academic studies to be made actively to set the direction of its development. It is hoped that multi-angled and in-depth studies on the utilization of P2P and various attempts to application of it to business be made on the basis of this study. For the development of P2P, continuous study and attempts are needed. The field of P2Ps application is very large and it will become a powerful tool, depending upon its application methods.

This paper presents the improvement of the field uniformity in a reverberation chamber which can be substitute an anechoic chamber for the electromagnetic interference (EMI) and immunity test. Nowadays, there are many EMI issues due to the increasing use of wireless local area network (LAN), digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB), and mobile internet. With this reason, this paper studied the field characteristics in a reverberation chamber for 2.3 GHz band. In this paper, the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method is used to analyze the field characteristics in a reverberation chamber. To improve the field uniformity in the reverberation chamber, this paper adopted a 2D cubical residue diffuser (CRD) with varying the disposition and number of CRD. For each case, the tolerance and standard deviation of the electric field strength are evaluated. In comparison with the reverberation chamber without any CRD, the reverberation chamber with two CRDs showed improved results; 1.98 dB improvement in standard deviation and 3.6 dB improvement in tolerance.
This article focuses on synthetic hormone consumption that illegal act of heterogeneous forms of pharmaceuticalization. Athletes are not unfamiliar with the use of synthetic hormones that contain anabolic steroids. Synthetic hormones are used to increase muscle mass and strength. This drug use practice cannot simply be viewed as illegal. Athletes accumulate knowledge on these hormones that conflicts with the knowledge proffered by physicians and they consume drugs responsibly. Physicians' knowledge of these hormones is limited to their use in the treatment of abnormalities. Athletes, however, are expanding the role of these hormones to include their potential for enhancement. Thereby, a new value is assigned to synthetic hormones, and an informal market is formed. Previous studies in the fields of biopolitics and biomedicalization have mainly focused on the formal connection between biomedical science and the institutional network. This article, therefore, analyzes the informal and the various aspects of biomedicalization.

This paper proposes a fast authentication scheme based on hierarchical key structure (HiFA) for roaming mobile nodes in both intra-domain and inter-domain. The full authentication procedure standardized in IEEE 802.11 and 802.16 is difficult to be applied to a handover since it needs a heavy operation and long delay time during a handover. Though a number of schemes were proposed to solve the problem, the existing schemes might degrade the security of authentication or impose heavy administrative burden on the Pome authentication server. The main contribution of this paper is to reduce the communication and computation overhead of the home authentication sewer without degrading the security strength of the fast roaming authentication using hierarchical authentication key structure. The proposed scheme iii this paper decentralizes the administrative burden of the home authentication server to other network entities such as a local authentication server or access point and supports the security separation of the authentication key among local authentication servers using hash key chain.

A number of routing algorithms have been studied for wireless mobile ad-hoc network. Among them, the AODV routing algorithm with on-demand method periodically transmits hello message and monitors link state during data transmission in order to maintain routing paths. When a path is disconnected, a node that senses it transmits a RERR packet to the transmitting node or transmits a RREQ locally so that the path could be repaired. With that, the control packet such as a RREQ is broadcast, which causes the consumption of bandwidth and incurs data latency. This paper proposes a LRRLBP algorithm that locally repairs a path by predicting link state before disconnecting the path based on the AODV routing protocol for solving such problems. Intensive simulations with the results using NS-2 simulator are shown for verifying the proposed protocol.
In the w/o concentrated emulsion, the volume fraction of the dispersed is greater than 0.74 and the hydrophilic liquid is dispersed in the hydrophobic liquid of the continuous phase. The emulsion has the same appearance and behaviour as a gel. The polarity of the hydrophilic liquids and hydrophobic liquids, the pH and the ionic strength of the hydrophilic liquid are found to be important factors in the stability at the polymerization temperature such as $50^{\circ}C$. The lower the polarity of the hydrophobic liquid and the higher the polarity of the hydrophilic liquid, the more stable the emulsion. Electron microscopy studies of the hydrophilic-hydrophobic polymer composites show that the particles of polyacrylamide, the dispersed phase, are separated by he network of the thin film of polystyrene, the continuous phase. This hydrophilic-hydrophobic polymer composites show higher permselectivity to water in the mixture of water-ethanol. The pervaporation experiment shows that the selectivity of the membrane ranges between 4-40 and increases with increasing enthanol concentration in the feed. The rate of permeation decreases with increasing ethanol concentration in the feed.
Although the evaluation of the mechanical properties and behavior of discontinuous rock masses is very important for the design of underground openings, it has always been considered the most difficult problem. One of the difficulties in describing the rock mass behavior is assigning the appropriate constitutive model. This limitation may be overcome with the progress in discrete element software such as PFC, which does not need the user to prescribe a constitutive model for rock mass. Instead, the micro-scale properties of the intact rock and joints are defined and the macro-scale response results from those properties and the geometry of the problem. In this paper, a $30m{\times}30m{\times}30m$ jointed rock mass of road tunnel site was analyzed. A discrete fracture network was developed from the joint geometry obtained from core logging and surface survey. Using the discontinuities geometry from the DFN model, PFC simulations were carried out, starting with the intact rock and systematically adding the joints and the stress-strain response was recorded for each case. With the stress-strain response curves, the mechanical properties of discontinuous rock masses were determined and compared to the results of empirical methods such as RMR, Q and GSI. The values of Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio and peak strength are almost similar from PFC model and Empirical methods. As expected, the presence of joints had a pronounced effect on mechanical properties of the rock mass. More importantly, the mechanical response of the PFC model was not determined by a user specified constitutive model.
